What's this about Bunk? Jake Aarts I've heard of because the played at Richmond, never heard of Johnstone and the only Dean Waugh I know of, is the little brother of Steve and Mark.

All three were at Dromana (who are huge spenders) until last year. Aarts went to Beaconsfield, Johnstone to Heidelberg and Waugh up the bush.

Dromana have fallen down the ladder this year and the word was they’ve made massive offers to all three to return before the June 30 deadline.

Would be a big blow for Beacy, though as the article says, it’s just rumour and nothing more.

EJ started in the 2s Played 2 in the 1s got dropped an has now gone bush no doubt for bulk cash
You’d think if he was going back to dromana they would have got him before he went bush.

Arts a beconsfield junior would be a big mid season switch

Picking 3 upsets this week in Div 1
North Ringwood to beat a battered Beaconsfield
Norwood to get their first win against Mooroolbark
Bayswater to put the tough week behind them to beat a very depleted Montrose

South Belgrave to continue winning against Park orchards

Went to the NR v Mont game yesterday and enjoyed a great game of footy. The ground was a picture in the full sun and a good vocal crowd. It was an even first half but in the second half NR had a bit extra in the tank and were able to maintain their lead until the final siren. Great to see both teams flying for their marks in the dry and sunny weather. Geez NR took some great pack / contested marks around the ground. A few attempts at "Mark of the Century" entertained the crowd. I'll upload one of these on this forum by Montrose No 18 in the third quarter.

I took my camcorder with me and recorded the second half. It's now on YouTube - link below.

Another attempted speccy this time by North Ringwood in the 2nd quarter against Montrose. I filmed this with my iPhone and not my camcorder so the vision is not clear. It looks like the player grabbed the ball, it slipped out of his hands but then he caught the ball on the way down before it hit the ground. It looked like he claimed the mark but I think it was then disallowed. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Reserves - North Ringwood V Montrose from Saturday 9th August.
Video if quarters 3 & 4 filmed from behind the goals on top of the steep hill !!

What a club… you love to see it ❤️

A living, breathing example of what can be achieved with nothing more than passion, hard work, and a quarter of a million dollars in illegal under-the-table payments.

Hearing Brett Johnson could be returing to Montrose with Brodie McLaughlin his assistant. They sure love opening the cheque book.

Will be interesting to see when the money runs out and what happens. I can guarantee the so called 'local players' will be gone in a flash. The money allegedly being spent on a range of benefits that is not covered under the salary cap is very high. I also understand the coach is getting paid very handsomely, he loved the money when playing and nothing has changed.

South have history on going on spending sprees (as occurred in the old YVMDFL days) and I don't think the result will be any different if/ when this happens.

I guess the clubs link with Lysterfield juniors is helping but if they were not in Division 1, I don't think players would be going there.

Think we will see them in Premier in 2026. Things would have to go horribly wrong not to win it.

The Lysterfield link is an interesting one and they are the subject of much tugging in all directions. SB are obviously always in there, but Rowville get a huge number of Lysterfield players and they are determined to keep that. At the other end Scoresby are doing their best to get in there too.

Could soon be 2 of those clubs in premier and the other in division 2, I know we have had these discussions before but I think having links to all 3 isn’t as bad as people think it keeps kids of all skill levels and option to choose the more that end up playing seniors the better, I don’t think one club needs to overpower the others to be the “one” affiliated club but I also don’t live in fairy land and expect them not to try haha!

It’ll be interesting to see where the “official” affiliation goes because that’s what everybody wants - it makes the players 1 pointers.

Rowville have asked for it many times but have been told no because they have their own juniors (and heaps of them).

Which is fine… but doesn’t make sense when you consider SB currently has it… and also has their own juniors.

Ironically scoresby has no juniors. And plenty of ex scores players’ kids now playing for the wolves

Witnessed the clash, second too the ball all day, interesting talking too one south supporter, he said he can count only one player, who played juniors at south in the side. He said if the money runs out, they will be in big trouble.

From today’s side Jack Pruden and Sean Bartels are SB juniors.

A couple from Lysterfield. The rest have been bought on ridiculous money.

A bloke on the Silvan committee told me about when their captain (Dalfonso) went there a couple of years ago. After a five minute phone call he was offered $800 / match and Silvan couldn’t / wouldn’t match it. He only lasted one year there, played a bit of reserves then came back.

If they are offering $800 to Div 4 players straight off the bat, you can only imagine what some of their ex AFL, VFL and Premier Div players are on.

The money will run out at some point. It’s not sustainable as it’s simply tipped in by backers, not by some kind of sustainable club-owned business.
