Surrey Park v East Burwood U19's next week. Should be a cracker of a game, both undefeated.
No footy for any of our teams next week. We play Surrey on May 8th. We played our Round 3 game early as part of the night games on April 10th.
As you say though, it will be a cracker.

East Burwood has enjoyed an unbeaten start to its Division 3 campaign – with a second-half burst again proving the difference against the Glen Waverley Hawks on Saturday.
The Rams have also knocked over the Whitehorse Pioneers and Donvale to sit atop the ladder after three rounds, but have had to overcome slow starts in each of their matches.
They’ve trailed at half time in each, 11 points adrift of Whitehorse in Round 1, 12 points to Donvale in Round 2 and five points to an inaccurate Hawks outfit on Saturday – which kicked 2.10 to the main break.
But 6.6 to the Hawks’ 3.4 after half time followed East Burwood’s trend this season, as it went on to win by 15 points.

While senior coach Stuart Wynd conceded the slow starts needed to be addressed, he believes his side’s fitness to have been the key to finishing strongly, with the Rams collectively outscoring their opponents 22.23 (155) to 12.11 (83) in second halves this season.
“That’s been the tale of the first three games really – we’ve started slow but came home pretty strong in all three games,” Wynd said.
“Realistically, we probably should have been four goals down at half-time (last Saturday) if they’d have kicked straight … we were a little bit lucky that way and it was similar the week before with Donvale.
“We certainly need to work on our starts but the point of difference is we’re pretty fit and we’re pretty confident we can run games out, and that’s certainly helped us in the first three games.”
East Burwood’s fast start to 2021 comes after it was promoted at the end of the 2019 season following a grand final appearance in Division 4.

Wynd said his players had relished the opportunity to play up a division this season, with a new-look side taking the park following a host of names moving on or retiring following 2019.
“All the boys are just enjoying playing a more competitive standard of footy really, our list is quite young and they’re all in that good age bracket from 22-25,” he said.
“We’ve only probably got three or four guys that are over 30 whereas last season we had about seven or eight.
“It’s a lot more competitive (than Division 4), there’s no doubt about that, and I think any team on their day can beat any team.”
The Rams have the bye this week before taking on 2019 grand finalist the Waverley Blues the following week, and Wynd says the break is a timely one on the back of three bruising encounters to open the season.
“It’ll be good for our blokes to have a bit of a rest – our style of footy is pretty crash and bash, so they’re certainly looking forward to the week off,” he said.

If you go through some of the results you will find a number of NAB players playing their first games. Check out the Noble and Surrey result.

Rams U19's went down to Surrey Hills. Reserves won and Seniors went down, slow start once again and WB kept them at arm's length all day,.

EFNL 2021: Waverley Blues hand East Burwood first loss of season
The Waverley Blues’ season is back on track after handing the Rams their first loss, led by a bag of goals and a star veteran.

It’s the response Waverley Blues playing-coach Tom Langford was after, and his charges certainly delivered.
The Blues banked their second consecutive victory on Saturday, handing second-placed East Burwood its first loss of the Division 3 season, running out 18.13 (121) to 14.12 (96) winners.
It comes on the back of a Round 4 victory over the Whitehorse Pioneers following a slow start to the campaign, with the Blues righting their season record to 3-2 in the past two matches.

While Langford detailed where the Blues needed to improve a fortnight ago, he lauded his players’ response as they led the Rams at all changes, with a nine-goal-to-two first term setting the tone.
“Credit to the players, we were able to identify what went wrong in the first few rounds and correct it straight away,” Langford said.
“We made a fair few changes to our approach and a really coachable group adopted it straight away and was able to somewhat execute it.
“(It was about) getting back to basics – winning the footy at the contests, and probably the way we defensively adjust our points around stoppages, but the main thing is getting in and winning the footy, and being more physical in the contest.
“We probably neglected the grunt a bit (in the first three rounds).”

Matt Perry led the Blues with seven goals, including four in his side’s first-term blitz, also combining with veteran Paul Savage in the ruck who finished best afield.

The Blues were missing No. 1 ruckman Daniel Playsted through soreness but is expected to return for Round 6.
“He (Perry) has really been able to bring the energy for us and get the guys up and about,” Langford said.
“He’s also been having some spells in the ruck, so seven goals is a massive haul when he’s not spending all his time up forward.
“(Savage) put in a monster performance – he had a heap of the footy, was really clever with his positioning and his body work in a position that’s somewhat foreign to him.
“We thought he (Savage) was the best player on the ground, all things considered.”
The Blues have also welcomed back key names to their midfield brigade in the past fortnight.
“Key personnel is everything at local level … for us, Tom Miles and Luke Gogis (returning) have been massive for us as inside midfielders,” Langford said.
Langford finished among the best with three goals, alongside Lachlan Tanner, Sam Mier and Rory Kinsella with two apiece. Braeden Barlow booted five for East Burwood with Matt Mariani finishing best afield for the visitors.
The Waverley Blues take on the Glen Waverley Hawks at Central Reserve in Round 6.

Interestingly I thought EB was the better side after 1/4 time. But it takes 4 quarters of footy to win.

EB also missing a couple of their better players so will be keen to see the rematch at EB’s home ground later on in the season.

Also a lot closer than the peanut journo who predicted the Blues on the top of the ladder and Rams on the bottom.

The Rams slow starts were eventually going to cost them a game and it did against WB. Be interesting what transpires tomorrow.

So far in 2021 the Rams 3-3 and middle of the road. No one expected them to win a game and they haven't been disgraced in their losses against the top 3 so far. Grand Final Replay at Ram Stadium this week.

And a really big game for the U19's.
Let's hope the seniors get a few back this week.

Bugger, I was looking forward to our Fairpark game.

Thoughts are with EFNL footy sides that are on or near top of the ladder and playing bottom sides with perhaps certain wins and now shared points or in this case EFNL no points.BUT is a issue in cricket as well and for a long time and we have all accepted it.Top v Bottom cricket and shared points for the game.

Struggling to see how it can only be 1 more week without footy with the covid numbers & another week of restrictions.

Will be interesting too see the implications going forward. Relegation with severely compromised draws, etc.

Similar thoughts. Before this latest lockdown does any one know of what the EFNL plans were to reduce Premier Division down to 10 teams. Some say 2 down and the premier D1 up,others say different. If the premier of D1 is not going up and 2 down like 2019 that will mean changes in the other divisions as well.
