What's the go with st johns? Are they just a social club?

An exciting game at Mt Eliza yesterday after an excellent President's Luncheon with both sides having their chances to win and Old Geelong recording a well-deserved victory. A couple of key exclusions to the Pirates through some weird injuries last week certainly didn't help them and unsettled their structure.

Agreed, very exciting game yesterday. Former VFL player Michael Rockefeller is going to be very handy for the OGS if he stays fit.

My Tips for this week are the away teams!

Mentone v Peninsula by 4
Ormond v NOBS by 32
Melb v Geelong by 41
Glen Eira v Friars by 101
St John v Willy by 52

Geez the 32 points is looking good in this weather Peter Bedford although the Monders ground is reasonable. I reckon the Monders could upset them..

Round 9 Tips:

Peninsula to rebound and defeat Old Mentonians by 12 pts
Although NOBs will not be used to the EE Gunn postage stamp, they should defeat Ormond by >21 points
Old Geelong will comfortably account for MHSOB by >36 points
Whitefriars will defeat Glen Eira by >48 points
And I'm tipping St Johns to knock off Willy at home by a couple of goals

Tomorrow's forecast is windy with frequent showers and the chance of hail....

Match of the round is Old Geelong vs NOBs. Old Geelong lose and they are 12 points shy of the top.
The game at Como Park is going to be slog with cross winds. After seeing the Oggers against the Pirates,
they are a big unit that I think will tire in the conditions. NOBs by 2 goals.
Old Mentonians should dispense with Willy at home by 4+ goals.
Ormond should account for Glen Eira at Packer Reserve.
The Pirates will have a big win over St Johns - 60+ points
Whitefriars has to beat MHSOB to get a break but they're not playing their home ground well so it should be close.
The Friars by 2 goals.

yep, well done to Glen Eira but my point was the central umpire overuling a goal umpire from 70 meters away, when everyone behind the goals said it was a goal and that was Ormond and Glen Eira people

There are many decisions umpires make during games that we can't always be happy with. If this happened in the first five minutes you probably wouldn't be complaining.

I assume that it wasn't an Association Goal ump? What about the other field ump? Time to bring in goal line technology.

The other umpire was within 20 m and said he didn't know. It was a club umpire from Ormond who was fair all day, even with a couple Ormond thought might have been goals and the GE goalie was very fair as well. There is no doubt the ball moved in flight , but well after the goal line and he could tell where the goal line was from the middle of the ground.

Same venue, same day, earlier game, two club field umpires who did a very good job. Nice change to see that there was not favourtism shown, just 2 guys volunteering for their clubs and not trying to get their own club over the line, as so often seems to be the case.
