Agree that clubs providing their own goal umps is a joke, so many opportunities for them to unfairly influence the game. It especially hurts honest clubs such as Whitefriars that produce fair and reasonable umps every week. Good thing the friars will be in c grade next year and have official ones.

I was not commenting on the goal umpires, just the field or central. I think you must have watched a different Whitefriars field ump than the one I watched at Packer Park

I don't know how you could possibly complain about the standard of field umpiring in d1 this year. As far as Whitefriars are concerned they have been absolutely fantastic this year. Perhaps your club should do some work with its players and supporters on umpire appreciation, they have one of the toughest jobs out there, they deserve more respect.

I was talking about the reserves umpire, not the VAFA supplied. I agree they have a tough job, having first hand knowledge, as I umpired both field and central for several years after I finished playing.

Sorry I misunderstood, I thought you were talking about the vafa umpires, didn't realise you were sooking about volunteer umpires in the twos.

enough umpire bashing, lets worry about the pill and not the man in white!

Tips this week!

NOBS v Peninsula
Ormond v Mentone
Willy v Whitefriars
Melb v Glen Eira
St Johns v Geelong

Whinging, sniping & tipping. To be considered a decent bloke, you'll need to add more strings to your bow, bedford.
That didn't take long mate. Is it true you have a new cricket team next year ?
Seriously both clubs are very similiar at the minute, hard to compete when you lose so many players.

Round 11 Tips:-

A fine day with light winds is forecast for the match of the round which will determine the premiership favourite.
NOBs on their home deck take on Peninsula. The winner goes one game clear on top.
I'm tipping the Pirates with more incentive and confidence to overcome NOBs by 18 points.
Old Mentonians need to defeat an erratic Ormond to cement their place in the four. OMs by 12 points.
Whitefriars to defeat Willy by 6 goals.
MHSOB to defeat Glen Eira by 27 points.
And the Oggers to get a percentage booster against St Johns.

James Bond: Do you expect me to talk? Goldfinger: No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!
It would seem this forum has very little active dialogue.
Very little opinion, very little discussion.
Round 11 showed that NOBs are the premiership favourites.
To be honest, an unattractive, Lyon-type game with too much defence and bugger all flair.
Still, the NOBs shut down the Pirates and that's all it took to win.
Ormond continued their up and down season with a wonderful win against Old Mentonians.
It seems that if Ormond bring their A game on any given Saturday, they could beat anyone.
The rest of the games went according to expectations.

Great win by the Monders, which could have come down to another goal umpiring blunder. Ormond kicked 6 goals in the 2nd Q, only for the goalies to take 1 off at half-time. The Field umpires also thought Ormond had kicked 6 and if the game came down to less than a goal there would have been an inquirery. The final score showed a 1pt win, but OM's stat man and timekeeper both confirmed that Ormond had kicked 6, well done for their honesty.

A morgue is noisier than this forum has been in the past week!

Round 12 Tips:
NOBs to defeat Willy comfortably at home.
Old Geelong to defeat Glen Eira at Como Park.
Peninsula to defeat MHSOB at Mount Eliza.
Ormond to defeat St Johns at Doveton.
Whitefriars to defeat Old Mentonians at Donvale.
