very interesting last 4 rounds, anyone from 6-9 can be relegated & anyone from 2-5 can get top 2. I think mhsob can avoid the drop and ormond will get the double chance. also going to be a great game in the magoos, rovers need to win if the want a double chance.

Nice to read the opinions and as you have all said it is merely opinion based.Jimmyjack I am not an SFL man in fact I may have seen more VAFA games in the past 3 years than SFL games that is what I have based my opinion on..I SFL stalwart only last week said that the standard has improved significantly in the past 5 years as the "rough and tumble" element has reduced significantly and is more attracative to blokes who play the ball like most in the Ammos but I have seen 2 games of VAFA footy this year where blokes have thrown behind the play punches and a fight has developed and spectators at 2 different grounds drinking lots of can of alcohol and urinating next to the pay grounds so in many respects the VAFA and the so called image/perception of the SFL are more alike than you think. I ask the question what is the difference between say people that manage the East Brighton FC in the SFL that have juniors playing in the SMJFL than Ormond another local club that also have juniors in the SMJFL - not a lot really may be the answer.Whilst the SFL openly offer financial inducements I am sure that clubs in the Ammos offer "lifestyle" inducements as well. What would be the difference between say St Johns AFC and Doveton different areas to East B and Orm but same people living in same area running 2 neighbouring footy clubs. The attraction the VAFA used to have is its "squeeky clean" image but community standards have changed the way in which many organisations operate and you will find not a lot of difference between both leagues in terms of compliance with rules and therefore the standard should not be a lot different from district clubs. Fully understand that the likes of Xavs Scotch Collegians etc will be very strong due to school links.Anyway that is my take.

1 final comment, I have also seen and heard of behaviour at both SFL and VAFA clubs at after match, and functions etc and I have been a guest at both SFL and VAFA presentation nights at club level and not a lot of difference at all so the theory of SFL clubs being a boozy haven is not quite true as most players do not hang around at after match anymore anyway. Oh and what VAFA club had there vote count of Best and Fairest as a blokes only stand up drink up with each time a player got a vote they had to scoll a beer??? I wonder how the winner of the Best and fairest felt after he polled so many votes??

No worries Perspective. We all see things differently but gee you sure are unlucky! You have been to just two VAFA games this year and saw people pi55ing, drinking, and brawling. So how did you enjoy your trip to St Bernards? ;)Maybe you were actually at an SFL final as that type of conduct is a condition of entry ! I have been to hundreds and hundred of VAFA games over the year. Have seen a plenty of heated arguments but very few physical altercations. And rampant drinking and urinating? turn it up!

Anyway the conversation was about playing standards. There are clowns in all clubs and competitions. However if you add alcohol the di#@head factor is magnified. Fortunately the idiots in the VAFA do not generally have the opportunity to add the ‘courage’ and color that booze affords. Behavioural issues are a different argument and I don’t think we need to debate that one.

Hugely important game in the Ressies on Saturday. A HR loss is effectively a 2 game buffer to the top 2 teams and will mean HR have to go the long route.
OG sitting on the trapdoor in the 2pm games. Rd.16 fixture will most likely be the decider.

Fair enough Jimmy yes the SFL finals are something else re: crowd behaviour - right you are. True I have seen some pretty unsociable things occur this year within and outside the vafa fence but you are right too much alcohol can turn normal blokes into tools. I must say the most unusual occurance that I saw was a club goal umpire having a beer at 3 quarter time and then during the last quarter whilst the match was on having a slash behind a tree.... harmless though.

Does anyone where the VAFA finals are being held? Most other Leagues have made announcements weeks ago..

Wait just a second!!!!!!!!

Can someone please explain this strippers after a juniors game story?

Important win by the friars over mentone today. Was surprised that the panthers played so defensively???

Ormond V Glen Eira for the McKinnon Hotel Cup. Congratulations to Ormond for a great win. Shame our next door neighbours from Ormond only had a couple of players staying back for a drink plus a few old supporters. Big difference when we went to your ground. Shame

just a stupid comment with no foundation at all. dont even get me started on the martinov suspension.. over 200 games without ever being suspended and he gets three weeks for something they said was unintentional???? AFL MRP are angels in my books

Hey boys, just wondering who would be in the best midfield in the competition if you had all players in the comp to choose from?
Maybe even a bit of team of the year selection?
Thought might mix it up a bit!

hard thing to do team of the year because you only see players twice a season.
but that bloke from whitefriars who looks like chris mayne or priddis with the curly hair is an absolute prick to come up against because he always seems to switch it on!

Interesting discussion here. Spoke to an Ormond person earlier in the week who thought there was enough in the Martinov incident to get weeks.
It's also a fine line we tread with the evidence witnesses give. One of our players tried to look after a Mazenod bloke last year and got 1 week for insufficient evidence. VAFA are tying players' hands on the players code.

An Ormond person you say, one that probably needs to go to OPSM as he's the only one that would think that

It's definitely going to be Rovers v Ormond in the second semi final. It will be interesting to see what the VAFA will do with the scheduling of the first and 2nd semi finals.
