Thanks Portman I've heard things are that bad over there that they may fold:eek:. Also LaTrobe and Old parade could be merging to become La Parade. You heard it here first! and probably last

Morning one and all! I'm back to work from holidays so need you guys to start posting so i have something to read;)

Whats happening with recruits at your clubs any big ins or outs? SMS lost a couple and picked up a couple as well but need to pick up more in my humble opinion. The new coach seems good and will be an asset for sure but isnt going to kick 70 odd goals. And when does everyone start running off the christmas pudding?

Have heard there has been some big departures out Eltham way, the turtles may have been flipped on there back:eek: I await to hear from the '"little fat kid" if this is true!

Guru Out!

I hear the very opposite.

Can anyone shed some truth on the rumour that Latorbe uni has appointed a new senior coach ?

I am not too sure as i heard it second hand as i was talking to a some one connected with a local club who knows one of the players there

Skye Football Ckub. Div 2 SFL. Looking for a practice match on 31st March as our other one has been cancelled. We have a ground available. PM if you are or no of any clubs that are looking for one.

All clubs should be back into it by now i'd assume! What sort of numbers are people getting on the track. SMS have been getting around 25 on the track, will be a fairly young side by the looks with a couple of the older lads moving on. Any news of recruits, departures or numbers on the track or ANYTHING, give me something people. LIFT!

Guru Out!

Have heard that SMD have had between 20-30 both Monday and Wednesday nights, and that they also have 25 blokes going on a preseason training camp this weekend. They look quite keen to have a good 100th year....

checking the VAFA site St Marys have been very active with just over 20 players coming to the club with most of them coming from the junior
competitions also Eltham have scored seven from the Northen footy leauge But its early days yet we should see a lot more activity over the next few weeks

I wouldnt read too much into the number of clearances for SMS. They had similar numbers last year and look how that turned out! They will definately be a very young side andId imagine the youngest gettting around in D2

Is there anyone else out there?

For what it's worth my ladder prediction is:

Prahran Assumption
Old Paradians
Therry Penola
Eltham OC
La Trobe Uni
Emmaus St Leo's
Bulleen Templestowe
South Melbourne Districts
St Marys Salesian
Monash Gryphons

GG, you might actually spark some debate if you give us your reasoning behind your predictions. I'm interested as to why you think BT will finish out of the 4?

The only reason I put them outside the 4 is that I was told they are going to be pretty young having lost basically all the experienced heads after last year.
I was told this by some bloke at The Argo that was connected to Prahran Assumption. He was also the one that said Prahran were flying so take it or leave it I suppose?

Do you know different? Where do you think they will finish?

For the record, I couldn't care where they finish really. I live near Therry's ground so just take an interest in Div 2 cause I watch a few of their games.

I reckon that ladder will be pretty close. I'll have eltham higher though (bit of biase there though). Think it will be a cracking year! Who is everyone playing in praccy matches? Eltham have -
Sth morang (div 2 northern fl)
Panton hill (div 3 northern fl)
St johns (d1)

I'll weigh in to this. Here are my predictions for the ladder:

Prahran Assumption - Have a very strong team. Will lose some games but will just pip TP for top spot.
Therry Penola - Will be wanting to take the next step and have a big chance to do it this year. The lure of finals will draw players.
Eltham OC - Same as TP.
Old Paradians - Going down a grade could lose some blokes. I also don't think the difference between D1 and D2 is too significant and whilst they will win more than 50% wont be enough to get them higher.
La Trobe Uni - Home ground advantage will keep them there abouts. Could knock OP out of the finals.
Bulleen Templestowe - Same as OP but not as good.
Emmaus St Leo's - I think might even be a spot higher but have left them here. A solid team but just have some better teams above them.
Monash Gryphons - Can play good footy when they want to as shown making the GF from 4th spot in D3. Jump in grade will make things difficult and will need to recruit. Will surprise in a few games then probably drop some easier ones.
South Melbourne Districts - Dark horse who could go either way and I'm not really sure. Have taken a punt that they'll face the drop rather than MG.
St Marys Salesian - In a slow decline and will drop before improving like we see so many teams do.

Prahan Assumption : Team to beat , plenty on the track , a couple of new recruits, loss of premiership coach might impact.
Theery Penola: Will be keen to take next step, plenty of youth, have had 2 under age sides , might start to reap benifits , have lost a couple of experienced players, should make it to D1
Eltham OC. Hard to know , few new players all ready, home ground advantage, snuck into 4 in 2011, might be able to hold position.
Old Paradians: Mid table, always competitive, need an injection of tallent, the drop might slow them for 2012.
Latrobe Uni. Momentum got them early wins last year, home ground advantage but only against older sides, mid table.
Bulleen Temp. Plenty of youngsters, new coach, might be in danger of double drop.
Emmaus St Leo's. Rely on to few, coaching swap in pre season, bottom 4
Monash Gryphons. Two grades in 2 years great effort, will
need big influx of good players, Loss of premiership coach , bottom 2
South Melb Districts. Rookie coach, only just in 2011, celebration yr could end in drop.
St.Mary's Salesian. Huge number of registrations, word is they will be very young, dual B grade premiership coach, might surprise, mid table.

Arthur,

What's the story over at Eltham, I heard you guys have picked up 7 or 8 good players from Lower Plenty?

Any truth in this rumour? They would be pretty handy in Div 2?

Picked up 4 new and 1 returning who went there for a year. One is our new fitness coach. Good to have them on board, two of them will be very handy, that's all I'll say for now. You'll just have to wait and see ;)

Turtles picked up a bloke who kicked 120+ goals last season (in the NFL I think) and add to that their CHF already they will kick 200+ between them easily. Pretty much makes you not want to play in D2 this season.

Bit of rubbish on here!!! Ben Gill has come across kicked about 70 goals in Div 2 NFL, would be hoping to get around the same again! No CHF has been picked up?? Crooks is back and 3 more have come across 2 have serious commitments outside of footy (work etc) and will play limited games..

I'd be happy but surprised if we got as much as 100 out of our 2 best forwards! 200 is taking the piss really!!

We're getting about 30 (ave) players on the track, always hoping to sign more players and build a strong list!

Hope that clears it all up!

Clear as - Oh and I meant your 2011 CHF not one that you may or may not have picked up.

So why will Prahran be so good? It is a fair jump up from Div 3 surely?

Have they recruited more talent since last year?

Prahran were so much better than all the other teams in d3 that they will slice through d2 like a hot knife through butter.
The jump from d3 to d2 is not that big if you are a good team look at St Johns d3 grand finalist in 2010 and d2 premiers 2011. latorbe uni d3 grand final winner 2010 and just missed the 4 in 2011.
The only minor hick up for Prahan is they have a new coach this year, but with the strong Assumption connection i would expect this club to have a rapid climb up through D grades then it might slow a little when the hit c grade but they should be looking a getting into A grade with in a 5 year period .
As i doubt with Assumptions sporting history they would or except langwishing in the lower grades.
