tips this week?Wouldn’t say Friars is a big ground, pretty standard size. From all reports Uni High are a young quick team so you would think a big ground would suit them
Yarra by 8 goals

So maybe it helps explain VAFA throwing the appeal out, if the shot shouldn't have happened at all?If the runner is in the 50 for a set shot it is a free kick against the runner so shot wouldn’t even have been taken.
Thats literally nSo maybe it helps explain VAFA throwing the appeal out, if the shot shouldn't have happened at all?
Anyway, is there any particular reason that some are expecting Eltham to grab a win away from home tomorrow
Thats literally NOT a rule ??? Unless its at a kick in after a behind and even then if the runner is trying to leave it should still be ok.So maybe it helps explain VAFA throwing the appeal out, if the shot shouldn't have happened at all?

If it happens to be true that he was a few steps away from that last contest and it's not considered an infringement then gee I don't know what is. It's protecting space and not allowing players to run at the ball from a certain angle. Would love a look at the vision thoughThats literally n

Why will it be a different story in finals?
There just isn't that many people who want to be umpires. I heard it might be something to do with all the crap they have to put up with?
I don't have any easy answers. Better minds than mine have grappled with the problem for years. $$$ isn't it - I've umpired with people who were quite upfront about having no interest in the game other than as a source of part time income. You don't want them.
You can attract people who want to maintain fitness for summer sports and put them on the boundary without hassle. Goal umpires can get away with lesser fitness although it is still an absolute requirement at the premier level; knowledge of the game, ability to concentrate, maintain composure and decisiveness under pressure are important. VAFA hasn't lowered the bar for entry and I don't think they should. Stacking the numbers with kids and nuffies just to supply umpires to games is not fair on the teams, spectators or the umpires themselves.
So what's your solution, watchdog?
Arthur Mac, finals is totally diff ball game with pressure, and key players returning (of which Parade has coming back) I still think these two teams with play off in GF and will go with Parade. Uni High have had fantastic year and what a great story for them to jump d2 in one year.

Lol champ settle mateThe VAFA has always been up itself about being the most prestigious comp outside AFL & VFL. VAFA only cares about umpires in ABC, and I think you are right in saying that "nuffies"only do it for cash is spot on. Also, the VAFA expect clubs to provide goalies, boundaries etc and some boundaries get paid by the club, so in effect, clubs pay VAFA, then need to pay ressies umps and boundaries (if not supplied by VAFA) These current day umpires dont have a feel for the game, dont understand the basic rules and from when I was playing in C grade, frustrate the players with poor decisions which just confuses players. I have mates that play in Eastern and they have umps supplied by comp for all games including ressies.
And if club wants investigation, they have to pay VAFA to investigate it...please!
Big day of football today.
Seems Melbourne high given up in seniors and are stacking reserves leading into finals.
UHS down parade by big margin but sources say parade still have 8-10 to come back in for finals.
Should be an interesting last couple rounds
YV vs Parade next week is set up to be huge. Should give another great indication of what's ahead. UHS have now convincingly defeated Whitefriars, YV and Parade. They're in the box seat.Looks like UHS and YV are the 2 teams now.
UHS looked great today and have amazing foot skills and YV seem to get the job done with there 3 best forwards out.

Not sure on harbeck, but moore has been used sparingly all year I think?I agree. Clear standout.
Is harbeck and Moore away or injured for yv?
Didn’t play by the looks of it.Bouncy no goals. UHS got a decent fullback? Must have played well

Not sure who it was but think someone above in this thread mentioned he was done for the year? someone might be able to clarify.Didn’t play by the looks of it.
Interesting pickup, both games i've seen of UHS their midfield skills and forward entry have been superb. Forwards receiving it on a platter. Getting on top in the midfield seems to be the key.UHS looked great today and have amazing foot skills
