That's terrible...just seems out of character for both clubs.
Surely goal umpire would have seen something !.

He did but didn’t get his number so no black card issued. Apparently video footage of it so hopefully he gets his right whack

Of course the field umpire was there but managed to miss it...

So the goal umpire and the field umpire saw it?

And a card wasnt given?

Must of being a violent act of the highest order...

It’s called coward punching and Whitefriars had a young player king hit knocked unconscious off the ball in the goal square and the rest speaks for itself!! Anyway courtesy of video footage the VAFA and police will determine where it goes from here!!

Good to see you're still covering the story in mayonnaise mate, no punches thrown at all, so not really a coward punch at all. I'd be more concerned about the flat out abuse dished out by friars supporters to umpires, supporters, and even to players, with one reptile coming up to the bench to lean over the fence and spray them.

So the truth is somewhere in the middle ?.
This is the sort of stuff you read on the SFL and WRFL sites...not a great look fellas

So a bloke got king hit knocked unconscious in the goal square im assuming within 10m of goal umpire but the umpire didn’t get the players number and or be able to identify them?

Something doesn’t add up.

Goal umpire was busy doing his job of waving the flags! It’s very easy to lose sight of a player in the ensuing melee!

I’d question what the field umpire was doing as anyone who has ever been involved in footy would have known it was going to get nasty. No one would expect a punch to the back of a guys head but he should have been watching

We will see what happens after VAFA reviews video footage

Not for the first time this year things got a bit heated between ourselves and Whitefriars. We have some blokes who don't mind a sledge, and a bit of niggle, but that's no different to most teams. The are some on the Friars side that overstep that mark though, and that was evident again today. Luckily Craigieburn doesn't have a picket fence, or it might have copped some treatment like ours did when we hosted earlier in the year. Some of the verbal was pretty ordinary.

Enough on that though, because it turned out to be a reasonable game of footy. The win was set up in the first quarter and a half really. Even though we did surrender the lead at 3/4, if we hadn't have got that far ahead early, we'd be talking about a different result. Friars were always going to come, and when they got their tails up, they certainly did. The second half of the last quarter when we iced the game was fun to watch.

We may not be as skilful across the board as UHS, and they will rightly start favourite, but our ability to find something when required on numerous times this season means we cannot be discounted. We've been ruled out on this forum a number of times in the last month. We got pretty close to UHS last week, and had a great fighting win today. Should a be a great contest next week !!

Not really. Umpires are human(ish) too.

I was umpiring a practice game some years ago (at Whitefriars of all places - massive coincidence, nothing more) when there was a bit of a tussle in the goal square and a WF bloke landed on his back with his opponent on his haunches next to him. I saw the bloke look up at the fieldie who had his back turned, and he leaned over and kneed the WF player in the throat. Bang! It was all on. I was 4m away and ran onto the field to get the offender's number but got pushed out by the incoming horde. It settled down but by that time everyone had scattered and I had no clue as to which of five or six similar-looking players had done it. Neither did the WF player who was coughing and spluttering. Shame.

As I said lets leave it to the independent authorities and see how it plays out unless you would like his fathers number to discuss the incident with! Maybe keep the mayo for your own purposes primate!

Bit of difference between a fence and a young bloke! Enjoy your win but this wont be the last you hear of today's rubbish from your club!

Does anyone on here have an objective view to what happened at yesterday's game?

Agree....15 per person and 5 for cars is ridiculous.
Good time for the VAFA to build the bank balance for their overseas junkets ?.
Where does this money go by the way ?.
Well the yearly Irish holiday... I mean tour needs to be funded.

Thanks for an update on the actual game of footy GT, I will admit I was one of those who thought your mob were done and you have proven the doubters wrong. UHS and OP been the best sides for the longest parts of the season and deservedly gain promotion. I'll stick with UHS as my tip for the wknd as they were still they best side I saw, but won't be surprised if you can get up, both would be deserving premiers.

Hey Garvy

Rumour has it that even though there was the entire seconds team behind the goals that no one saw the helmeted skipper number 7 run through number 34 from WF and knock him out of the game. Apparently O Parade can't name him because they are unsure of which of their players did it? Does the club culture value owning their own behavior. Classic case of trying to take a fine rather than lose a "quality person and player!" Do the crime own up to it and take the time!

Why the hell would parade name him? lol

I thought there was video... was the game even filmed by the league?

Parade do every game - missed the second quarter apparently
So what? you expect Parade to hand over footage to incriminate one of their players?

Spare me..

Most leagues now film every game to avoid this situations but i mean these things dont happen in the VAFA so no need.

I thought he king hit him?

Now he ran through him?

By the end of the week he will have said boo

Does it matter what happened? All that counts was the kid wasn't looking and ended up unconscious and unable to take any part further in the game due to an act of a coward who took the opportunity to run 15mtrs and lay him out!! Regarding the end of the week well that will be determined by the authorities but from what I've seen Kandilakis will be on the sidelines for the end of the week and quite a few thereafter!
The most damning part of it all was that it happened within 3mtr of the boundary umpire 10mtr goal umpire and 10mtr field umpire yet none of them could identify the Parade player, give me a spell???

Yes it does matter. Getting bumped because you just copped a goal happens in every game in the country week in week out . It also wasnt a bump to the head.
Also, had enough of people saying "young bloke". It's senior footy. There is no special consideration on the ground because it's a "young Bloke"

How about the friars fans who came onto the ground after the game wanting to fight the parade players... Should they get life bans?

The kid was wearing a helmet as well which indicates a previous issue possible injury so why would you do it especially when he wasn't looking. Interesting when Heighty went after him he looked ordinary.

Hahaha gee whiz, an on field after game brawl between Whitefriars and Old Parade - would’ve been one for the ages.

Sounds like where there’s smoke there is fire and even if it was after a goal and what not you can’t go dropping blokes behind play, especially if they end up hurt. Doesn’t matter if he ‘ran through’ him or ‘king hit’ him that stuff isn’t on in 2018. If the opposition supporters reacted so hostile after the game that they were willing to blue the players then something has obviously gone down.
