Sarcasm 2nd and 3rd line? lol

Bulleen to beat Emmaus by 4 goals (wouldn't read anything into a victory over MHSOB from Leos, Bulleen bit stronger around the contest for mine)
OP to beat YV by 2 goals (OP looking to flex a bit as part of the top 2 heading into finals, YV to get close however!)
UHS to account for Eltham by 12+ (sorry year for Eltham, look to rebuild in 2019 in D3)
House to survive in D2 against MHSOB 5 goals (Unicorns have no ticker and look tired, House tough little club punching in D2 not too badly after all!)
Whitefriars to do it comfortably over JOCs by 10 goals (JOC's to play off for relegation against Emmaus next week for some final day heartbreak!)

With the top 4 spots and double chances cemented we turn our sites to the bottom sides and the relegation battle - 4 teams battling it out, all separated by 4 pts, one slip up could cost your team a spot in D2 next year;

Powerhouse - 20pts, 70.05%. Last two games MHSOB & UHS
BT - 18pts, 92.38%. Last two games ESL & Friars
JOCs - 18 pts, 71.79%. Last two games Friars & ESL
ESL - 16pts, 64.69%. Last two games BT & JOCs

- Powerhouse is sitting in the box seat to stay up, although could be nervous times if they lose this weekend with UHS the following week although would need some unlikely results for them to go down regardless if they lose the last 2.
- BTs % could help them against the JOCs if they finish on the same points - a loss this weekend, they would be relying on results to go their way in the last round.
- JOCs will be in a do or die against ESL next week as I cannot see them winning this weekend.
- ESL play the two teams just above them and if they stay up they will have earned their spot.

With the Friars playing both JOCs and BT in their last 2 rounds it will be interesting to see what team they put out on the park given that both JOCs and BT will be going as hard as possible with their survival in D2 on the line. Friars probably won't want to risk injury and will limp their way over the line to be prepared for their knock out final with YV.

Tip: JOCs to go down

Well summed up. If PH can get the job done against MHSOB (tipping PH based on form) then that's job done for them.
Given the gap between ESL and JOCS is only 2 points, the last game looks to be the decider, even if ESL can get up against BT.
For mine; if Leos can win 1 of their remaining two, they should stay up. (tipping friars to win both encounters in following weeks)
so, whoever can beat ESL out of BT or JOCS, will stay, and whoever cannot, will go down. JOCS to go down for mine following a final round loss to ESL.

I agree, PH almost certain to stay up. JOCS are least likely to stay up, but given each of these sides have only won 4 games this season anything could happen. Very tense 2 rounds ahead!

I thought so as well, interesting that PH and BT have found themselves in this position both should have been capable of a few more wins
I agree, especially BT. Tell me the last time you have seen a team with 4 wins and 11 losses with a % of nearly 100. BT definitely competitive in D2 and would be a shame if they were to relegate to D3.

Glen Eira were relegated last year with 7 wins... and a % of 90. PH seem to have been able to improve as the years gone, whereas the others have dropped away.

7 wins and 11 losses (GE) as opposed to 4 wins and 11 losses (BT) - % doesn't lie. BT have 20% more than any out of the 4 battling relegation.

Apart from the top 4 sides (which are close) its been a disappointing year for depth in the league. Ive never seen such a big gap. There haven't been any upsets at all.

Any further news about selection for the OP Yarra clash after last night? RE: Harbeck, Moore, Boundy?

Pretty much a dead rubber tomorrow with both teams gearing up for the first week of finals. Will be one of the more boring games of the round.

Don’t think Boundy will play and Warren Jeffry a late out!!! not sure about the Yarra boys, think Both sides would want to win and we all know what happens if you go half hearted, that’s when you do get injuries!!

Unfortunately it is looking a little that way given the standings. But confidence is always good coming into finals. 3 losses on the trot is never a great sign. Both teams will be looking for the win surely.

Looks like harbeck and young from there best and maybe nick Chambelin
Seem to have no trouble scoring without Harbeck, albeit on their smaller ground. WF vs Yarra in the elimination final will be HUGE.
Anyone go? was it as straightforward as the scores suggest?

As hot as things are in the valley right now. No team playing in a 1st semi will ever be favourites for a flag.
Finals is a whole new ball game.
Winning 3 in a row is tough.
UHS still in the box seat. Great win by Yarra no doubt, but it was only 3 weeks ago UHS beat them on their own deck.

Full credit to Yarra today. They look pretty potent up forward. When you put 22 out on the park you expect to be more competitive than we were today. Hate to use injuries as an excuse however we currently have seven walk-up-starts missing, including our Captain, Vice Captain, two 200 game premiership players, our full forward (top 5 in the goal kicking) and our starting ruckman. It’s looking positive to get them back at least by the first final so we can give a more accurate account of ourselves.

What was good to see was despite losing many players to the Senior team, and injuries themselves, our Reserves managed to nut out a victory today to lock up a spot in the finals, and our Under 19s went out to Williamstown and saw off the home team to book a spot in the finals (for the first time in the better part of a decade) if we can beat last-placed Therry next week.

Trying to look at things glass-half-full after a difficult few weeks
