Things at the Highett v Glen Eira game we’re a bit tense with Highett playing 6 6 6 and GE refusing, both not backing down.

Good on them, why practice something you won't be playing? That doesnt help their structures and thats the whole point of a practice game!

Only the sensible leagues have stayed away from 6-6-6

The only problem with the 6-6-6 is the old timers complaining about it.

Makes for some good free flowing footy. But as usual with any modern change, the oldies complain.

As a Collingwood supporter, I dont see how you could say the game is more free flowing having watched the Pies and Cats game on Friday night

From a local footy perspective, how do you police it with just 2 field umpires and 2 boundary umpires? Does a player in Div 3 or 4 of a local league have the fitness to get back inside the 50 after a goal in the last qtr?

Its a typical reactionary move by the AFL to a problem that would have sorted itself out once a coach came up with a game plan to beat teams who flood. But still teams flood as soon as the ball is bounced and you still have players winning the ball in their back half and looking up to see no one in front of them, so nothings changed!

I disagree

From memory Terry Wallace successfully invoked the "flood" whilst coaching the Bulldogs late in the 2000 year and that game was the Bomber's only loss that season. That was nearly 20 years ago and I'd suggest the flood hasn't been defeated by the collective coaching group in that time.
