Obviously too long a warm up last night ??
Serious question which role takes priority ?

Good assessment of todays game Silver. Both had a few out and I'm a Billy Irving fan so WB will be stronger next time also. Should be a great game in a few weeks time I would suggest.

Lots of questions being asked Cobra. In fact I've heard the President is meeting now with the two main powerbrokers at Ivanhoe to plot a path forward.

Yes Chump, Billy is a ripper. Big Maxy at CHB the other big out for WB. That said, I would suggest Ivanhoe could be anything with a full contingent on a dry track come September. Ivanhoe still favourites from my perspective.

I'm only new to this thread/league as my son is playing for WB. It's good stuff.

With Collingwood VFL playing at the same time as the VAFA, the Hoes were missing several key cogs, including Ash, Selwood, and Blackmore-Moore.
What’s going to happen if the Pies play VFL on the same day as a Ivanhoe final?

Not jumping off the Hoes, but WB look the deal too.

One week at a time Mappa - we will see what happens and who is available when we play. 😉😂

Silver - if your son is playing at WB then he is at a very good club - on and off the field. Congratulations on the win and hope to see you in a few weeks for another kick.

The draw at Gillon yesterday sure does set up an interesting Round 17.
WB on form would get the four points at South Yarra, but MH are a totally different kettle of fish at home and could shock them, especially with their season on the line. They then finish away to Powerhouse, who they should beat.
We host Yarra this week. On paper we should get the four points, but as we know, footy isn’t played on paper. We then finish away to WB.

At the other end, Manningham and Powerhouse look in real danger, especially the Cobras who finish with Ivanhoe and Brunswick. Yarra may need to beat Aquinas at home in Round 18 to secure safety which isn’t out of the question.

Exciting times in D2

Hey OTP, do we get 1 point for a draw? If so Ive got another 5 and running out of time however to catch Chumpy Champ

Yes, the players all chipped in and purchased some data for me. Terrific group of people down there to be honest!

Chump.
So the players (like Doyle) know who you are then?
I will ask him this week to point you out!

on another point, assuming the Hoes finish in grand final, does the VAFA still promote 2 and drop 2 as per previous years?
Suggest they go to Div one next year, how are you going to get to games like Peninsula, PEGS, Prahran and the like? Lots of games in the south, not like div 2 with all but 2 clubs in the North?

Assumes they're still in the VAFA next year.

Firstly Brainy T ..... as I have said many times, this is a very close competition and any thoughts of progressing up into Div 1 are for others to consider. We are not. We were soundly beaten on the weekend by WB and have some work to do.

Secondly, many of our players have played Ammo footy for years and years, so the driving to grounds all over Melb is not new. Now, it's not ideal, but it isn't anything new. Nor is it specific to our competition ......look at NFNL Div 3 ....... Kilmore, Epping, Mernda, Laurimar, (Kinglake next year).... a bit of travel there also.

Also, if we stay in Div 2 we will have 4 new teams anyway and that could mean that same thing. You just never know!

Round 17 .....

Mappas Mob v Yarra - the Raiders will be looking to continue last weeks good form and keep a slim (but mathematical) top 2 finish in play should WB slip up. Yarra on the other hand will be disappointed to not get the win last week on their home deck against the Ants and trying to find another win to put relegation to bed. All that said, the Raiders will be far too strong I would suggest and keep things bubbling along on their way to a serious finals campaign.

Hoers v Cobras - horrible couple of weeks on the injury and unavailability front for the men from the Boulevard and it did not improve last night at selection. It's come at the wrong time of year for the Hoers and they will be hopeful things can change in the coming weeks. The Cobras have not had the year they hoped for and will be looking to finish off the year as best they can and reset for season 2023. The Hoers for me tomorrow as a several players get a chance to put their hand up and potentially grab a finals appearance if required.

House v Brunswick - House and Brunswick will both be unhappy with last week, but for completely different reasons. The House are a proud group and whilst decimated with unavailability last week they will not be happy with that sort of performance v the Raiders. The Wickers will be ruing a missed opportunity to put close the door ion MHSOB's finals push AND stay in the hunt for a top 2 finish should WB slip up. All that said, the Wicks are a very good unit and will be back with a provenance this week I feel.

Bulleen Temp v Aquinas - this will be a ripper IMO. Ants at home are always a handful and buoyed by last weeks win will be looking to make it two in a row. The men from Ringwood will be looking for another victory to continue their push to finish off the year on a positive note. Two teams that play the same tough contested style of footy and if you cant get your own ball on Saturday in this one, you may end up being a spectator. I'm going the Ants in a close one.

MHSOB v WB - as briiiiiaaaan would say 'Wow Wee'. What a cracking game this looks to be. Unicorns were so close last week and looked to have made things very, very interesting only to finish with the draw. The Westy's gave the Hoers and good lesson (again) in muddy conditions on their home patch and the score board was flattering for the Ivanhoe guys in the end. Whilst the Unicorns have everything to play for, I doubt WB will let a double chance slip and consolidate their top 2 finish this week.

Enjoy your footy this week.

Tips for this week
OP - 30pts
Ivanhoe - 24pts (seems to be resting their best with the likes of Close,Selwood and Doyle being "rested")
Brunswick - 10pts (MUST WIN)
Bullen - 15pts
West Brunswick - 8pts - (MHSOB will come out to play though will expect this to be game of the round with a close finish)
