Are the rumours true regarding Yarra Old Boys? Sounds like they don’t have many players.
They've only got 9 clearances out, and 6 of them are women. Obviously not great for the women's program there, but hardly wholesale changes. They've got 8 blokes coming in.

Have heard some whispers too that Yarra are feeling the pressure. Shame if true as they're always a worthy adversary. Pity they cannot strengthen the relationship with the school.

The disparity is amazing between teams. At the other end of the scale Ivanhoe numbers have been really solid I’m told, and West Brunswick have had more players than they know what to do with.

What’s been happening with practice matches ? OPs had a good, even hit out with Eltham Collegians, with a much sterner test against Watsonia this week.

Saw MHSOB got touched up by euroa and struggled to get over the line of hawthorn
West brunswick are my flags favourite atm, killing every praccy from what I've heard

If Euroa were in the VAFA they would be a either Premier A or Premier B team, so keep that in mind when assessing preseason form. Hawthorn were very bullish about coming up to D2 - they wouldn't have been slouches.
They have picked up two from Premier A and two from Port Melb - all regular senior players - so I wouldn't be too quick to write them off.
They'll be a handful again this year.

Who are the players from Port .

Is this season OPs last roll of the die before a move to Northern Football League? Finding it increasingly difficult to retain the students with so many paying clubs nearby and only token support from the school?

I'm hearing Yarra are really struggling and doubts on their ability to fill a 2s side each week.
They struggled last season and would have forfeited more games if not for the deal done with Uni Blacks. New leadership this season has seen them look at almalgamations with local sides only to be turned away. Bang bang

We are going ok Mappa, but like most clubs I wouldn't mind another dozen players in both our mens and womens programs that's for sure. Again, like most clubs, Covid for the past two years has knocked us around a bit with player interest/commitment and as such we have had to be more flexible in our expectations of player availability. So we will see as the year progresses.

Our mens teams are playing Eltham Turtles tomorrow so should be a very good test for us after a close couple of games against an impressive young Parkside last week.

Cheers, Chump.

Not going to lie. It's difficult to attract players from the College, but not necessarily due to the money. Most of the kids have been playing footy with a local club since they were little tackers (Greensborough, Monty, South Morang, Diamond Creek etc) and it makes sense that they would want to continue with that club. The $$ help of course if they are good enough. Our affiliation with Parade St Damian's is only in its infancy, but they are a fantastic club, with amazing facilities, so we are hoping that when their young players reach to the age to move to a Senior club, it will be us. That's certainly what PStD want, and so do we.

As for the College providing token support, I'm afraid you're on the wrong train there. You only need to see the condition that they present the Garvey each year, and the great social rooms we have, and alternate training facilities such as the Collins Oval. We are very appreciative of their support.

I overheard a person from Parkside talking at the AGM on Monday night, and he was very pumped about the way they are going. Good luck against the Turtles, and make sure you don't get your goals and points mixed up ;):D

They have a great young list and strong 19's coming through, so the future looks bright for them as those players mature -IMO.

Just hopeful of a good blow out tomorrow, several key people missing due to some other commitments so maybe I was just preempting our result tomorrow when I advised your result

Have a good run against Watsy and we will see you in a week under lights!

Can't wait for Round 1 Champ. We are quite undermanned against Watsy today, so not sure how pretty the scoreline will be either
