Victoria Police are on the lookout for 22 players in Old Paradians jumpers after getting out of jail today 😀
Really hard fought game, and well done to both teams on the contest. It was fantastic that we didn’t chuck it in at any stage, and managed to find a way, with four goals in the last 10 minutes to come away with what at times might have seemed like an unlikely victory.
Hats off to #11 and #4 for BT who kept them in it all day.

Was at this game and thought Bulleen were a bit unlucky,a dubious free kick and 50 metre penalty with 5 minutes to go was very costly for the Bullants.
On a side note, the abuse of the Bulleen Temp boundary umpire from the Parade coaches bench was disgraceful. The bloke had played a full game in the reserves and was good enough to put his hand up and help his club out and the vitriol he received from the fool from Parade was very disappointing and the poor bloke was clearly distressed by it.
The back bone of local football clubs are their volunteers and if this is representative of Parades attitude they need to have a good long hard look at themselves

BT had all the momentum, and had the game on their terms. That one free kick in isolation didn’t make or break the result. Three of BT’s first 4 goals came as a result of free kicks, including a dubious 50m itself, so swings and roundabouts.

Time to act on coaches benches. Why do we need 10 humans plus inside the fence? It’s over the top in park footy. Should be restricted to the coach and 1 guy with the board and a runner. The rest can stay on the other side of the fence. Sorry but being the 3rd defensive line coach or whatever doesn’t get you inside the fence until the siren blows.

Nearly spot on , but there are medical staff etc that need to be there .

I think the other thing Les .... and I am not saying it did happen as I was not at the game mentioned .... but ANY club that has people associated with their club abusing umpires and volunteers needs to act. We just have to be better. It's not the 80's and idiots acting in a way that is inappropriate needs to be addressed by the actual clubs themselves.

We have had a few this year that I can GTD have been internally addressed....club suspensions and meetings with those that transgressed. If those people want to be part of OUR club in the year 2022, then there is an expectation of how we behave.
Gracious in defeat.
Humble in victory.
Respectful of umpires and volunteers.
If you can't do that - find another club.

Chump (getting of his soap box now).

Couldn’t agree more Chump
I have no affinity to either club and I was surprised that this sort of thing still goes on

Had a chuckle at the article on the VAFA website ....... not sure you can lock us (Ivanhoe) in for top 2 at the round 8 mark?

Still a very even comp across the top 4 and the next two are not out of it - IMO.

Will be a BIG game against the Ants this week - always is.

Usually Old Parade are a good host and fair team. Every club has a few clowns so it looks like you found the top banana. Umpire abuse never warranted.

Would say it is Ivanhoe's to lose at this stage. With 7-foot Ash close, 2 VFL listed players (ridiculous at this level), 2 guns coming across from Northcote park div1, last years league bnf, plus SELWOOD! Who can catch them.

No problem at all then ..... if all the other teams could just give it to us as a 'gimmie' (think golf) I'll be on my way.

It's only round 8 people ..... plenty can win it from here :)

it's going to be an interesting run for the remaining games and the biggest issue for clubs, players staying fit and healthy!

I know you’re trying keep a lid on it Chump, but when you read it in black and white (pun intended) like that, you have to concede it definitely makes you one of the favourites.

Not at all Mappa - at 7-1 after 8 rounds, having only lost that one game by 11 points and played some good footy so far this year, I agree we are in the mix - absolutely. Our BEST side is a good side on paper and I feel we can compete with the best.

That said, talk of flags is VERY premature at round 8 and with so much to happen this year. I think the current top four could ALL win on their day and this years comp is VERY even - with you guys and Aquinas still well in the hunt....and we get our first look at The Ants this week.

If you believe that Brunswick, MHSOB and West all think they can't win it after playing us ..... you are mistaken. They ALL think they can (and should) after playing each other once.

For now we will get ready for the Ants this week in what is always a good game.

A lot to play out yet!

Brunswick is the interesting one for me. MH were very good in 2021, so no shock there. West Brunswick brought across a ton of St Bernards kids, so there's also no shock that they are once again up there (and their Reserves have kicked more total points than any other Reserves side in the whole VAFA), but Brunswick lost every game last year, and only won 1 game in the Reserves and asked to come back so that they would be competitive.

In 2022 they've lost a total of 2 games across both grades. Is Division 1 that much better than Division 2? Did they have a heaps of top quality talent walk through the doors at Gillon? Did they go on a big recruiting drive? Whatever it is, it is quite the turnaround.

Not sure about last year in D1 but Brunswick are as strong as any demoted team we have encountered in some time. So, congratulations to all involved in whatever they have done to strengthen their club.

GE are making a good fist of it in their first year (as did Whitefriars when they first went up) so many be a 'strong' club can have an impact one grade higher? That said things change significantly each year when two up/two down happens and teams get thrown around.

I was chatting with Brunswick player 4-5 weeks ago and he's in the twos, was a regular seniors player 2018/19. Said that massive turnover since end of 2019 and 21, most players in senior team now have come this year from all over and mates of mates etc.

I will be keenly observing West Brunswick against MHSOB, and Brunswick against Aquinas will be interesting with 3 senior Brunswick players suspended from last weeks game.

Hows Ivanhoe looking against B/T C or C?

Not sure Brainy - I'm over in Perth atm and haven't seen the side. Hearing a few out from last week and we're already missing a few ..... but so is everyone. Back tomoz so will have a look Saturday 👍

Hey chump, thankfully it wont be as wet tomorrow as I presumed with terrible weather Tuesday & Thursday.

Had it been extremely wet, wouldve evened up some clashes to close low scoring games and dependant on ground conditions (turf pitch)

My old stomping ground at the Oggery has been resurfaced and looking a treat and no need to evade 2 turf pitches for the season!

My tips this week

Ivanhoers to defeat luckless Bulleen Temp
Brunswick to defeat Aquinas (even with 3 missing)
West Brunswick to roll MHSOB
Parade to def Yarra Valley in closest game of the round
Powerhouse to notch up first win against Cobras
