Might be an option for Ormond but doubt it would happen. They have been around the VAFA so long that they already have many established rivalries. Glen Eira is thriving in the VAFA. 3 x senior teams, 2 x U19s and a women’s team and they have risen multiple grades over the last few years. Not a knock on the SFNL as the general consensus is that it is a much-improved competition but the area is already awash with SFNL clubs, all scrapping over the same pool of players looking to make a buck. Ormond and GE provide at least provide a point of difference.

You forgetting to mention a random school partnership and another name change for the combine?

Parkside are thriving

Parkside have established a strong link between junior and senior clubs, very good u19s, i think they even had a u17 playing in their seniors.
Canterbury and Parkside both returned to VAFA after stints away. Other clubs are rumored to be looking at a move so may not be much to come back to. St Johns would surely be looking at SFNL. District sides such as Beaumaris and Oakleigh would also be welcomed into SFNL with open arms.

Were both of them in a dire situation as BT? I dunno about that. Not sure if their reserves were playing with 13 and losing by 300. If its not working now it won't work in the future if they decide to come back

Jamie Brooker has been announced as a new player for De La Salle in Premier Division. Close to 100 goals across the last 2 seasons according to the announcement, huge loss for SMD I'd imagine.

Those that have watched him closely, how do you think he will go? Stepping up quite a few grades isn't for the fainthearted, but I'm certainly hoping he can add some additional firepower down at Dairy Bell.

He'll be a strong second or third key tall. Can chop out in ruck too

Good player, been at SMD for years, good luck to him, can always return if it doesn't work out, would be welcomed right back if so I would've thought

Sad to see the great man go, he was a key factor in the recent success that SMD has had post 2020. He was probably the most naturally gifted player in the comp and will definitley be missed. I think if he can come out of his shell he is capable of anything. I wish him well at De La and would love to see him succeed at a higher level, but still hope he comes back to SMD one day!

You'll have to be more specific, there are two sets of Cobras in D2

Cobra off!

A mate on either team has told me Canterbury hope to be pretty competitive, Knowing they are not a team like parkside full of young talent looking to fly up the grades, more than a few older heads in that flag team. Wattle park spent most of the year outside relegation until Aquinas rallied in the 2nd half of the year, So it is do-able for canterbury, no excuses this time on going up or not.

Old Yarra's social media tells me they have looked to strengthen the school relationship, gained a few there, plus a old manningham cobra. My intel says they gain a few they lost for the division 1 venture. Look to them to compete for the top four.

Canterbury. Pretty old playing list but potentially going to have 19s which they will need
Gonna be an interesting R1 match up. Looking forward to having a 5 minute trip for once haha

Heard from a mate Canterbury are playing old yarra in a praccy soon. Will be a good hitout to see where the cobras's are both at.

Judging by OY social media they are really prioritizing the school link. Canterbury bit harder to read.

Whitefriars v East Malvern (Div 2 SFNL) this Saturday at Donvale (1's and 2's playing).

Will be a very good hit out for the friars. East Malvern were the Div 2 runners up last season after losing the GF to Murrumbeena. If I was to pick a winner I'd have the boys from the zoo by about 8 goals.
