Quasi, my spies tell me that Wells is only 50/50 to play. Didnt train last night.
I wonder what the best preparation is for a GF. 3 hard games in a row going in. Or 1 serious hit out in a month. Prahran would be cherry ripe from an injury perspective but match conditioning may have dropped off.
Anyway, here is hoping for a Gryphons 2 pt victory!

Congratulations to the Gryphs on making it to the big dance. A fantastic effort.

They have based their game on a good forward press, hard tackling, good work at stoppages and a willingness to switch and run from defence.

Prahran on the other hand have been about playing one on one football and backing their blokes to be better than the opposition. Long wide kicks from defence and long balls to Sleight and to a lesser extent Cristoforo have held them in good stead all year.

I see no reason for this to change tomorrow.

They are the best side, fit and rested and three hard games in a row in the style the Gryphs play will take its toll.

Prahran to take the flag by 13 goals.

Congratulations to Prahran on having both teams in the grand final and to Monash and UHS on also having a team in the big dance. Think that the three tough games ina row may count agaist Monash with the Two Blues being premiers and champions.

Progressive 78 from 112.

Yarra Valley vs Monash Gryphons - 18 points.

Progressive 78 from 113

Superb effort from the Gryphons last week. How they have been able to turn a last round defeat to Albert Park to being a dominant force in finals is beyond me. I've gone through the lists and all they appear to have added is some borderline players. But as the old adage states you are only as good as your bottom 6 players. And it is these players that have shown some great attack on the footy in the past few weeks. Good luck to both teams, I am hoping for a great display of D3 footy this Sunday.

Prahran Assumption vs Monash Gryphons - 34 points.
Do you go with your head or your heart? As much as I would like to see Monash topple the Four Blues juggernaut I just cannot see it happening.

For the year the Gryphons have averaged less than 6 goals a game than Prahran. They have also let through 4 more goals per game. That is a 10 goal difference per game Prahran have bettered Monash by. When you keep looking at the stats it gets worse for the Gryphons. The top 6 goal kickers from Prahran have kicked more goals than the entire Gryphons team for the year. Throw in that the Gryphons have played 2 more games which they kicked decent scores, it was probably only 5 players from Prahran.

Prahran are scarily that good but don't take anything away from Monash. There is one strong similarity with these teams and that is they aren't overly tall and don't have those 3-4 big blokes the rest of the teams have. I really think this favours Monash and it was proven earlier in the year when the Gryphons took it right up to Prahran. Considering they are playing better footy now that has to be of major concern for the Four Blues. The Blues in and under to get the footy is great but the spread they use after this is even better.

I'm looking forward to some great match ups. The Gryphons have to do some containing of Sleight, Christofo, Musster and Chapman(who are forwards and onballers). Gryphons main men are (backmen and onballers) Wells, Baxter, Fletcher and Mackie. So we will see the best players from each team lining up on each other. Who ever can get out on top of these battles will win this game.

Hope to see a great game of footy and good luck to all on Sunday. I'll see you in the bar.

Statistically this game is a complete mis-match but counts for nothing as it all comes down to what happens on the day. I agree with Wamba & Terrys' analysis of the game but think Wamba is being a little generous with his margin. As seen in D1 & D2 last week defeat often, and does occur to the overwhelming favourites. It seems a little absurd that a team which has lost 8 games during the season can find itself in a GF but Monash have found the grit, form and momentum to gain a ticket to the big dance - a fantastic effort from all at the Gryphs with the double promotion also the reward. Obviously well coached but I doubt if they have all the personnel still required to stop the Blues.
Lets' hope the weather holds for Sunday and we get to see a high standard game - and good luck to your club - Blues my tip by 21 points.

I agree with the above from Wamba.

The hard run and attack on the pill of the Gryphs has been fantastic this finals series and I doubt it will cease Sunday. But, that takes alot out of you when your opponent has had two of the previous three weeks to rest.

PA's have been outstanding and have the run and fast ball movement to break the game open and not turn it into a scrap ( weather permitting).

Congratulations to all sides playing tomorrow - best of luck to you and your clubs and enjoy the day.

I might wander down for a look - just around the corner from my place, so no excuse really.

Meet me at the bar before the game Krusty. I'll be the one waving the pineapples.

I think there is some good value there.

As seenSorry Toorak, I was a little generous with my margin; I predicted 13 goals and it was only 73 points.

I saw Giansiracusa played in the losing reserves GF side - bit stiff after playing 18 senior games throughout the year!

How good is Ash Parsons! Way too good for D3, and I suspect he will carve it in D2 next year as well. Class player.

No need to gloat Wamba ....show a little humility!! :D

Congrats to PA's - great win and clearly the best team all year - D2 will be another good year for them if they can hold onto that team....and get a few more as predicted.

Sammy Sheehan BOG for the Gryphs ..... Bonus? Kidding people. Great effort from the Gryphs to make it. The day would have been disappointing, but they at least made it whilst the rest of us watched on. Good luck next year in D2.

Well Prahran just too good. Really a D1 capable side playing in D3.
Shut down Sleight and Cristoforo but unfortunately the run of their midfielders told the story in the second half.
Parsons is the best player to play D3 I've ever seen. Couldnt make the Scribe's team of the year though!
Congratulations to Prahran well deserved and they will be climbing the grades quickly one would think.
As for the Gryphons, we need to recruit heavily if they are going to challenge in D2 next year.
Well this is Johnnyonthespot signing off from D3 this year.
See you all in D2 in 2012

Not so sure about that. they have been slipping for years now and haven't been above D1 for about a decade. Carried by the aging Sleight and still have plenty of old blokes runing around in the twos.

I wouldn't have thought they were neccessarly on the "way up" but rather have halted the slide down. It was, with all due respect, effectively F Grade

I stand corrected Wamba - not sure how you arrived at that margin but kudos to you. The scoreboard was not indicative of the effort put in by the Gryhs but blew out as they ran out of legs and options. Sleight into the ruck for the 2nd half after O'Hare was concussed was a telling move IMO and he got the PA runners & onballers into the game. Parsons & Chapman started to dominate and then it was put down your glasses although the Gryphs continued to provide spirited opposition. High standard physical game and both teams should be competitive in D2 next year. Enjoyed reading everyones' contributions this year and good luck to you all in 2012.
