So Zeldamate, how much are these two new blokes getting paid?
Michael Barnes was having problems with injurys so left Box Hill to play out the year with his mates, played a half reinjuring himself unlikely to play again this year,Willo did some sessions over preseason, was convinced to come back to Boronia, due to uni was unable to train which caused issues, got sick of it and left, end of story.

Barnsey hasn't played senior or reserves VFL this year due to injury and he played at UFTG in the EFL last year.

Okay, where is everyone ?

UHS-VU vs Ivanhoe - The Hoes disappointed last week big time and have another stiff one here against the Students who apparently just fell in last week. Still think the visitors are the second best team in the division.
Yarra Valley vs Old Westbourne - No more betting on the premiership now - the Wine-Makers are long odds-on and should humble the Old Boys here.
Elsternwick vs Power House - Two losers from last week although the House were right in their game into the final stanza and while they probably should get the nod here the Wicks are very comfortable at home.
Richmond vs Aquinas - The loser effectively drops out of the finals race with a loss here and prepared to give it to the Tiger-Snakes.
Albert Park vs Kew - With plenty to play for the bears should be able to clip the Falcon's wings at the Grand Prix track.
Hawthorn vs St Francis Xavier - Yes, anticipated the improved form of the Hawks last week but the X-Men have way too much to play for and can't afford a slip-up.

And speaking of the Hawks, with the VAFA Exec to rule on their fate this coming week, on their form and potential finishing ladder position, is the recommended drop to the lowest rung potentially a pat on the back rather than a slap on the wrist?
That is, their current player stocks/ability is probably better than teams usually relegated and therefore they start with an advantage in the lower division with a potential reward of a premiership.
Maybe they should be told that they remain in the division but start with some sort of negative points score.

Not much excitement from the games I saw on saturday. Richmond and aquinas played out a slog and the Hoes did it comfortable against Uni high.

Be an interesting race for the lower spots in the five.

Favouring Kew and Aquinas now to get the lower spots now with St Francis their main danger.

Huge upset, Hawks over SFX?

The hawks must have improved out of site in the past few weeks... What's the difference?

Ok... What's up with this forum?

Round 13
Yarra Valley over Hawthorn - the hawks run comes to a grinding halt. The culmination of a tough few weeks at rathmines.

RC over Ivanhoe - RC are due an upset.

Albert Park over Power house - Huge game for Powerhouse who find themselves just two wins out of relegation now.

SFX over Aquinas - Not sure what happened to SFx and hawks last weekend, but I tip a return to form from SFX with finals on the line.

Kew over UHS - No love lost in this match.

Elsternwick over OW.

Round 13

I will jump in Bigwaz .....

Yarra Valley over Hawthorn - Yarra boys enjoy a bit of area to run into as they spread very well and the Hawks do not. Yarra, still the best team in it - 59 points.

Ivanhoe V Richmond Centrals - could be another close game me thinks. But, with the Hoes hopefully welcoming back several players this week, we hope to get the points - 17 points.

Albert Park V Power house - I have always thought that when AP play their best footy they are alot better than ladder position. Think the will win well here - 22 points.

SFX V Aquinas - Flip of the coin here - I have no idea really. Massive game for both considering the race for the top 5 and finals action. Home side anyone? SFX by a point.

Kew V UHS - both may have been a little 'miffed' at their performances last week and had hoped to do better. Kew are a tough team to beat at home and as such will get the 'w'. Kew by 31 points.

OW V Elsternwick - would think the Wicks would be far too strong in this one and the 'big' forwards to create real troubles for an undersized OW. The Wicks by plenty IMO - 65 points.

Good luck to all - no injuries - and a few cold ones after the game.

Chump.

Each to their own Bigwaz but personally I'm not a fan of ball ups!
Yarra Valley vs Hawthorn - The Hawks pair of wins didn't embarrass the league administration into giving them a stay of executition (relegation) and their winning run comes to a sudden end at the hands of the wine-makers.
Ivanhoe vs Richmond - Crucial game for both the Hoes and Tiger-Snakes, probably more so for the latter with effectively seven sides fighting for the last two finals spots. The Hoes also need to keep ahead of the pack and a win here should help significantly.
Power House vs Albert Park - A surprise win by the Falcons last week keeps them mathimatically in the finals race and therefore can't afford to slip up here against the relegation bound House.
St Francis Xavier vs Aquinas - The big under-achievers in the X-Men did their finals chances potentially fatal damage last week while the Bloods stole a march on one of their suitors and think they'll do the same again this week.
Kew vs UHS-VU - Both were very disappointing last week with the Students still in the finals drivers seat. So a win here over the Bears is vital, but then the Bears are also in a animal-fight for one last finals spot.
Old Westborne vs Elsternwick - The Warriors have been saved from the drop at season's end by the inept Hawks but can't see them toppling the Wicks here who are coming off a big win last week.

So Div 3 reserve appears to be a shit fight between Yarra Valley and Kew. Divvy 3 is still wide open but I'd back YV to be absolute certainties in the Grand Final unless they choke yet again at the pointy end. So who will be the other side? Can Ash Close be stopped? Can Aquinas keep up their rejuvenated form or are they just a couple of losses away from slipping from the 5 and are Kew the real deal?

From last week's results, the most telling has to be UHS going down fairly convincingly, I don't know if they will be able to hold onto third spot at this rate. Huge game for them this week against the rampaging winemakers.

Reckon Uni High will hold on to third but will lose this week.

Got a few easy games coming home and they have enough in reserve.

Yarra Valley are hot favourites and I think Ivanhoe will meet them in the GF and will be a good chance to get over the top of them.

Kew and Aquinas will fill the other spots.

St Francis seem to be shooting themselves in the foot every second week and Elsternwick have probably left their run too late.

Agree with the fact that Yarra Valley should take it out but 3rd position (and the chance!) still up for grabs. Kew haven't lost at home and with a nice run home could easily steal it! UHS should lose to Yarra Valley this week which will make things even tighter

Interesting name on the hoes reserve teamlisting from the weekend chump

Not really LD ..... Christian Traeger has been playing back with us all year this year. Just starting to shake off some knee problems and build the fitness base again in time for finals. ;)

Nice try .... Think the reference is to Dutchy H ........ would not like to be the 22 to 23 rd player who has to missout for him after training & playing all year!!

OH , that Old Hack !! Ba ha ha.

Two things though .......

1/ Strong clubs should have more than 22 or 23 senior players each week fighting for places. I would think that over the next few weeks we could have up to 5 to 7 inclusions from the team that played on the weekend. Hopefully that produces the competition needed to keep improving, as finals go up another notch and we need to get better.

2/ Dutchy has been training for 18 months to get his knee right - and others have had 18 months to cement a place in the seniors or seconds - so no issue there - should he play well enough over the next few weeks to even get into either team.

Worst case scenario - great to have the ex-captain back in either team...... now where are my boots?

Chump.

3rd spot still up for grabs. Will make a very very interesting few weeks. Chances are Yarra will beat UHS this week. And if Aquinas win at home against elsternwick then the following round Aquinas vs UHS-VU could be the battle for 3rd spot. Kew still hovering around, not too bad of a draw. Elsternwick a tougher draw are also still around. Looking forward to the next month of footy.
What is everyone's tips for top 5??

1. Yarra
2. Ivanhoe
3. Aquinas
4. UHS-VU
5. Kew

My tips for the top 5:

1 - Yarra Valley
2 - Ivanhoe
3 - Aquinas
4 - VHS - VU
5 - Kew

Been apart of the bloods supporter need to beat Elsterwick & Powerhouse, gonna be a interesting month to go.

I can't believe you all missed the return of the Great 'Bemused'. Roll out the trumpets. Just need Umpy Advocate and Dee Three to fire up and the Board is well and truly back in business!!!
