Absolutely no truth to these rumours about Francis, but I heard Skelly will be the one to watch if he ever decides to give up hope of a professional cycling career... he and Alberto Contador have been hanging out too much for my liking.

Plans for the dubstep dungeon and heaps of YS are the most promising features to come from the Ivanhoe preseason.

D3 followers won't be suprised to hear Glen Francis is tearing up the track at Ivanhoe this year. He's in the best condition I've ever seen him, will dominate at this level.

Things looking rosey at Hoe park, the Dubstep dungeon will be in full swing by the first function and we have a Sweedish bloke training with us so I'm sure he'll pull all the birds.... Soooo many birds. YS in fact.

Personally I'm avoiding Wednesday training as the fitness regime involves running with stell bars up hills.... Old school.

2012 Premiers:Ivanhoe - on the back of Francis
2012 Top 5: Ivanhoe, Yarra, Aquinas, Hawks (the big improvers), wild card spot
Big Improvers: Hawks
Big Sliders:dunno
League Medal:Francis
Relegation:dunno

this is the greatest day of my life, glen francis actually knows i exist!!!!

Was having a quiet 9 holes around Elsternwick on Saturday and on my way home I drove past a ground behind the course which was about 10 times the size of EP2. Can someone enlighten me if the Wicks have ever tried to relocate there?
Understand there are no rooms currently but there is nothing stopping the council building some.

Something us at Elsternwick are also at a loss to explain. There's plenty of room at EP2 for new rooms as well.

Until the council actually resolve to do something, the teams of the lower levels of VAFA football will just have to keep coming to the postage stamp.

I like the postage stamp - it has charector

Played cricket at Ferndale Park on Saturday. The ground is in great condition... Still small, but a nice surface. Also has brand new rooms.

Good for them.... Sounds like I'm giving St Mary's a plug, but I still can't forgive them for bringing their own beer to our ground.

Punter, so the Wicks have approached the council to relocate? I'm sure I heard something of that nature a couple of years ago.
I guess when you hear stories like this we at the Hawks realise how lucky we are with the council - all grounds resurfaced, and 90% with new rooms.

We have not approached the council to relocate, but it has been mentioned to us by council. It was in their plans at some stage. It is not in their plans as of now. We wait to see what their plans will be in the future.

I have returned from my enforced stay in the sin bin.
Apparently "taking the piss' and friendly banter is not tolerated on here.
No matter, the comments will be modified to suit.
My observations as to the veterans from Elsternwick was actually a compliment to them.
They have carried their club for far too many games.
It was more a comment on the inner suburban clubs in this division struggling to attract younger quality players to their clubs. Older players still have to play well past their preferred use by date and are still head and shoulders above the rest.
Gen Y more interested in Face(flog)book and texting or going to higher divisions rather than the Wicks, Richmond Centrals, Albert Park, Power House, etc.
And before you all get excited, I said "QUALITY", young players, not hacks.

Where the only 2 players under 28 from what I sore GF day?

Just did a count, 9 of the 21 were under 28. Possibly more but i don't know everyones age so just included the definites.

The team made the grand final and earned promotion so I don't think the age of players really matters.

I agree so what was the point of the orginal post. How many players have you lost from the GF? (no rumours here genuine question)

So I was trying to point out that our two best players from last year were youngsters.

There are 7 blokes who have left Richmond from that 21 last year to my knowledge, mainly those who have retired.

2012 Premiers:Elsternwick
2012 Top 5: Elsternwick, Aquinas, Yarra Valley, SFX, OW
Big Improvers: Kew
Big Sliders: Powerhouse
League Medal: Craig Mahony
Relegation:Hawthorn

Of course far too early to make a proper call but I'll put up a view without any real knowledge.

Premiers: Ivanhoe (about time we backed ourselves)
Top 5: Ivanhoe, Yarra, Aquinas, Hawthorn, St Francis.
Big Improvers: Hawthorn/Kew
Big Sliders: Powerhouse/Uni High
League medal: Probably the 21st or 22nd best player in the comp.
Relegation: Powerhouse, Richmond FC.

All far too early to call. Talk to me mid year for a truly informed opinion.

Well done to RC if you have been able to have quality youngsters playing at your club.
Certainly seems to be the exception and not the rule!
Need some extraordinary circumstances like the Assumption and Prahran combine to get substantial youth through the doors unless you have a school affiliation as a feeder.
Drove past Albert Park and Power House during the week and looked like modest numbers on the track? How are the Lake side kissing cousins travelling??

In terms of recruiting young players to the club, we have plans in work which will hopefully see a good transition of youth over the next few years.

Ivanhoe has a heap good of youngsters... having a junior affiliated club helps with that.

we probably will be short on experience if anything.

RC signed a 6ft 7 junior named Paul Johnson who's been put on the Oakleigh Chargers u18's list. Pretty sure he'll make their team, but here's hoping he plays a few games for the yellow and black this year.
