Three and three is bloody harsh, but I guess sort of makes sense if they decided to throw the book at him.

9 weeks for contact he didn't even get carded for is just confusing. Would like to hear more about the reasoning behind that.

Sounds like more of a tribunal issue than an ump issue, tbh.

If Fosters depiction of the event is in fact unbiased then this is exactly why the VAFA is failing as a league trying to promote family values etc etc.
What a ridiculous over exaggeration. Especially something that happened in the reserves. This is the reason the VAFA need to dip into their pockets and provide umpires for reserves games because 9 times out of 10 the club umpires aren't up to scratch.

That is an absolute joke, swearing and carrying on isn't justified, maybe one or two weeks for that. The crossing the border comment is a classic sledge and if I was umpiring I would have laughed and said fair play.

9 weeks for minimal contact which didn't even knock the ump over? That's a disgrace, fair enough if he collected the ump on purpose, but considering he just received a warning you'd presume that wasn't the case.

If we can believe the Pres - if the umpire had a sense of humour he wouldn't have been carded, and if he hadn't been carded he wouldn't have sworn and if he hadn't have sworn he wouldn't have been charged with manhandling.

Seems to me this "He Said" / "I Heard" garbage ain't getting us anywhere.... bad luck to the bloke who got 15 weeks. From what I've seen this year the Reserves Umpiring has been very good, and although there are always going to be disagreements/bias when you have an umpire affilated with each club, we should pat them on the back for volunteering their time on a Sat morning and helping out. I'm sure most of these guys would rather be on a golf course or in bed with the mrs (or someone elses) than travelling to umpire some of us fat old blokes that wander round in the 2's.

Back to the real stuff and this weeks footy... My tips :

Aquinas vs Hawthorn: Aquinas by 30pts... looks like they should win but they lost to Richmond at home...

Elsternwick vs Ivanhoe: Elternwick by 30pts... 4 home games in first 5!? they play their ground well the Hoes will need to play well to upset them

Powerhouse vs Richmond: Richmond by 14pts... No idea what Powerhouse are like, Richmond look alright

SFX vs YarraValley: Yarra by 20pts... Hoping for a SFX upset at home for the competitions point of view. Hopefully they don't get intimidated by the Bushrangers wearing pre-match tuxedos

Kew vs Albert Park: Kew by 15pts.... Could go either way, super important game for both sides

OW vs UHS: UHS by 20pts... margin depends on the wind, UHS look too strong

Best of luck to all teams

Wow, been rather quiet here all week ..............

Aquinas vs Hawthorn - Opportunity for the home team to up their percentage that may be critical come season's end.
Elsternwisk vs Ivanhoe - The Hoes need to negiotate this difficult one to keep amongst the other leaders, though the Wicks can be very difficult at home.
Power House vs Richmond - The Tiger-Snakes should be able to comfortably handle the Hawks in ths one.
St Francis Xavier vs Yarra Valley - Match of the Round that could decide premiership favouritism. Both have had relatively soft lead-ins to this one and going for the X-Men by a few points.
Kew vs Albert Park - A difficult one to read as both teams have been hot and cold. Still think the Falcons can be dangereous and going for them here.
Old Westbourne vs UHS-VU - A trip way out west shouldn't worry the Students as they look solidify their top echelon position.

Snakes pulled through in the end. Tough game though and ph showed a lot of spirit. MAssive game from angus.

Some close games on Saturday...

SFX pushed YV... Must have been a heartstopper. Goal after the siren?
Nothing between Elsternwick and Ivanhoe?
Albert Park must be fuming about the draw (or relieved), given the discrepancy in scoring shots. Though Kew finished with all the momentum?

Power house v RC was closer than the final score would indicate... RC kicked the last 7 goals after PH got their noses in front in the last quarter.

I see EDWARDS kicked 6. How did the oldest guy in D3 go?

X-Men possible flag favourites,I thought Aquinas touched them up R1.

He's a good bloke. Shame to lose him. He never spoke to me about it so I don't know. I assume he has more contacts there than at RC.

What happened to Traeger that saw him transfer to Ivanhoe?

Traegs played for Ivanhoe for six or sevenn years before going to Richmond with Kieran O'Dwyer.

Now Kizza no longer plays and he still has a lot of mates at Ivanhoe, he's transferred back.

Spot on, Traeg's decided to head back to where he has played most of his footy, he'll always be welcome at the snake put though. How's been going this year?

He's just having a kick in the twos at the moment who are coached by his good mate Stevie G.

As far as I know he's enjoying his footy.
