Wind was a shocker in Kew aswell. Most results went as predicted. Some big games next week with uhs-vu v elsternwick, la trobe v centrals and kew v aquinas
Particularly looking forward to UHS-VU v Elsternwick. Elsternwick are certainly the surprise packet so far this season and a win over UHS will firmly place them in the contention pile. Will take a big effort from one of the current bottom 6 to turn it around, some of them are streets behind.

If Elsternwick beat UHS they will be flag faves you'd think.

So... Ladder:

Elsternwick
Aquinas
UHS
Kew
Richmond
Swinburne
Albert Park
SFX
South Mornington
La Trobe
Power house
Old Westbourne

And the matches for this round:

UHS v Elsternwick - Another big game for UHS... A loss might see them fall out of the top 5
La Trobe v Richmond - LT have had a tough run losing to 1st and 2nd on ladder. Are they legit?
Power house v South Mornington - PH have to win these home games.
SFX v Albert Park - They should be evenly matched. Good game.
Kew v Aquinas - Is this the first real test for Aquinas? Another cracker.
Old Westbourne v Swinburne - Similar to PH, OW should step up in this game.

I'm tipping a couple of upsets in PH and OW... Seems to me that all of the games will be close this week. Hope the weather is fine!

Not bad Bigwaz! My tips:
UHS to beat Elsternwick by a few goals
The Chino lovers by 5 goals over La Trobe
The Irish in a close contest against S Mornington
SFX at home against Albert Park
Aquinas to end Kews winning streak at the Bearcave
Swinburne to surprise again with a win over Old Westbourne this time

Always 4n20, but sometimes the gourmet 4 pack variety and sometimes the plastic bag variety :)

I remember being pretty impressed by the Albert Park canteen..... They had cheerleaders running it!

Discussing the big issues here at Bigfooty! I've got to say, it was either Powerhouse or Albert Park, pretty sure it was AP where the prices were a little unreasonable for a snagga but maybe they just didn't like the look of me.

Beautiful weather predicted for tomorrow... Early rain followed by 30kph winds.... This will be my first time out on La Trobe's main oval... How does it cope with the wind?

Ah yes, the cheerleaders! Fantastic initiative, although I cannot see our better halves getting into those costumes bigwaz.

Tipped the card last week, which wasn't too hard, but this week certainly is tougher. So,

UHS-VU vs Elsternwick
La Trobe Uni vs Richmond
Power House vs South Mornington
St Francis Xavier vs Albert Park
Kew vs Aquinas
Old Westbourne vs Swinburne Uni

Who is this bloke Tim Allman for Kew who has popped up out of nowhere and kicked a bag of 7 against a premiership favourite? How much talent do they have down at the bear cave

Yes some interesting results. They would suggest that uhs-vu and Kew are the two faves at this point. Close third to elsternwick?

Aquinas?
Albert Park?

They both laid a couple of eggs on Saturday.

My tips for this round:
UHS to make the long trip out to South Mornington worthwhile with a victory
Richmond Central to continue there strong form with a close win against Aquinas
Albert Park over Old Westbourne by 5 goals
Kew in a surprisingly close one against Powerhouse
Elsternwick easily against the X Men
La Trobe Uni to end the students amazing run at St James Park with a 2 goal victory

La Trobe goes from perhaps the best home field advantage to the second best at St James... From the biggest ground to the smallest. I think they'll struggle and Swinburne will beat them.... In saying that, smaller grounds offer much more unpredictable results. On the bigger grounds, fitness plays more of a role?

Interest comment you make there Waz. And glad some real football conversation.
I think it comes down to the type of game you play. Kick-mark - don't need to work that hard on a small ground, run and carry - more work required.
I know from speaking to guys at De La who play an incredible running game where they would have more handballs than kicks, their opinion of this is that you have to actually work harder on smaller grounds than on bigger grounds.
Big grounds are easy because there is space everywhere so you don't have to work that hard to find space. But, for teams like De La, they feel their workrate needs to increase on smaller grounds to not only get into space but to create space for their team mates.

great post justafan on the small ground your running players have to work double hard to make space but this does not mean the team with the fittest players will win. i would say the team with the best mid field rotations and run with player rotations will win if it is done right.this will allow you to over run any team on any ground
