Super post. Something very fishy going on there. Hope the VAFA looks in to this. They won't though because it only concerns the poorer division of the league.

Oh sweet, didn't realise VAFA doesn't look at the lower levels, now just need to find some money at RC and recruit like mad!

In all seriousness though, do you think that there are many teams in the lower levels that actually pay their players? I have quite a bit to do with recruiting and find it very hard to recruit blokes who are already getting paid.

Probably more of a coincidence that AM, Bedford & myself were just talking the other day about how good/bad the people are at Oakleigh. I think the article some 2 days later reinforces my stance on some of the people/players at that club.

Sorry for the continual SFL talk
I was meaning Wrighty, great bloke , they can go and f off then.

I don't know what sort of payments players would be getting given the lower divisions don't have big sponsors to put players on their payroll like premier division clubs but I find it very hard to believe that a club like Aquinas could recruit 5 players from an EFL club without giving them some form of remuneration.
Surely they can't all be listed as playing coaches?

Yes a lot of VAFA clubs provide "inducements" a contract to do some building work, airconditioning work at inflated rates etc...scholarships for kids...and yes some money changes hands..and some clubs like Ormond (Bedford/muzza knows all)_ have financial "leakage"

If Aquinas can get these players across it would be fantastic for their club and the league. There is no way they will be paying players - they just wouldn't have the money to do it.
My club is a very healthy financial position but it would find itself in a very unhealthy position very quickly if we paid 1 player, let alone 4.

Didn't have the guts to reply to my pm, your a joke

I might stay on the D3 thread this year, much more action and controversy than the D2 thread.

Think I might get on board with RC as my D3 team seeing as they don't mind paying players if they can find the cash. ;)

I thought the early rounds of the fixture were due to be released today? Or am I a day early? Interesting on Aquinas, their FF was a good player but I didn't think he really gave too much of a shit about how the side went. Kicked 6 in the first half of their Semi and then fell asleep/was showboating too much. Fair player, thought he would have chased some coin.

I realise that AM so not sure what your point is. The difference being he was not umercifully sacked after one season on the back of taking his club to the GF and nearly winning the thing on the back of a player led revolt. Additionally he is a legend of that club with involvement going back 40 years, not to mention is outstanding achievements at the highest level. A good bloke who deserved better.

If you pay over the odds to suburban hack footballers and make them feel like rock stars then there is always the risk of this happening.

N & C – take your point but not much else happening here so at least we are talking football. If we just wait for D3 news we could be waiting a while.

Just being a bit cheeky with the first para, but Bedford put the bat in the air and let it go through to the keeper.:)

I thought the Caulfield Grammarians reference was relevant as one or two teed-off on Oakleigh Districts for appointing Steve. I stand to be corrected, but my memory is that C.G were happy with him. I have no knowledge of the goings-on at O.D or anything at all to do with them, by the way.

What do you call a very healthy [to the nearest $10k] financial position nodder?
Would many D2 TO D4 clubs HAVE MUCH IN THE TIN TANK?
Any one care to share their financial position?
THE EYE

Not certain about these 4 mates I'm bringing across to play for the us but maybe they just haven't told me yet. I know for sure that they certainly wont be on any coin and will be reaching into their pockets to pay their subs just like the rest of the side (if they do magically appear).

Willie bee I'm assuming you're one of the yags from the bloods stitching me up but if not then I'm don't know about 'not giving a shit'. Pretty relaxed on field for the most part which you may have read the wrong way (ds).

Loving this thread. Really looking forward to the fixture being released. Seems as though Aquinas might be stronger than I predicted

You don't read this thread unless you're keen!

Funny how the top sides seem to have The best draws every year... And poor old powerhouse has the toughest draw since chadstone.

This is true bigwaz we're all keen here...

Powerhouse v Chadstone, now theres a mouthwatering match-up ;)

1 bad season and all of a sudden, we're being compared to Chaddy. Don't be surprised to see the House bounce back next season.

Very confident that Powerhouse will finish bottom 3 this year. The 1s side they fielded this season wouldn't have been competitive in D4. Any news on numbers down at preseasons? I know the recruitment drive at Richmond Central has been huge for 2013, Old Westbourne are going to be welcoming back some good players from the WRFL #dodgy #coin ... and I know Kew have retained pretty much all players from this season and have picked up some gems for next year

Recruitment drive should be huge for all clubs really, RC have been casting the net far and wide but you'd think most clubs would do the same? When you can't offer cash you have to look hard for quality players.

The key is to have a net with the right sized holes...

You can delete 'scholarships for kids' from the 'inducement' file, Perspective. Just ask Peninsula.

Bout this time of year that I question the merits of pre Xmas training. It's only Important for recruiting... Bah humbug. And ts too bloody hot! Humbug!
