La Trobe seemed to have recruited a few from the country as usual, a couple of the names to watch out for

The 3 Parr brothers following the new coach from Berrigan, Steve played missed out on senior grand final due to injury last season, will make an impact from round 1. Graeme his twin hasn't played for a few years due to a series of knee injuries, carrying a bit of extra weight but should hold down a spot, will only get better with games. The older brother is just coming for the trip. But may be in the mix, will need a couple of injuries to get in.

They have also recruited well from Rupanyup with David South and Darcy Stephenson. But the more interesting one is Damien Cooper Ruckman / Centre Half Forward, played a few games last year in the 1s, but due to work commitments couldn’t train regularly enough to hold his spot. Now working in Melbourne, should be a lock in for CHF round 1.

Also another blast from the past Tim Madwsley, key member of the 1999 premiership side, seems to have shed some weight over the summer and will make a push for seniors
As usual a very strong and hard year to pick. Good luck to everyone in round 1

Yes it seems like all teams have improved from last season. We'll know who's who in the zoo come 5:30pm Saturday!

Tips:

UHS over AP
Pigs over Tigers
Snakes over Elsternwick
Aquinas over Latrobe
SFX over Power House
Kew over Warriors

My Tips for Round 1:
UHS to easily account for Albert Park at home
South Mornington to beat Swinburne by the smallest of margins
Centrals to smash Elsternwick by 50 points +
Aquinas to win by 2 goals against La Trobe in the match of the round
SFX by 4 goals against Powerhouse
Kew by 5 goals against Old Wesbourne

There's rumors flying about that one B. Rowles clearence is in the 'pending' stage. Terrible news for La Trobe if it doesn't go through before the weekend. As the general rule states: No Rowles, No Win. #breadrolls

Also I've heard Anthony Ticks for the Trobers pulled up a bit sore after last weeks praccy game, and may sit the first round out. Looking forward to having him back, wrecking havoc on the wing once again. #jet

RICHO U SALTY LITTLE FLOG, IF I HAD A DOLLAR FOR EVERY STUPID COMMENT U SAID ID HAVE 1 BILLON DOLLARS, U STAIN OF AN EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING. AQUINAS ACTUALLY LOST TO LATROBE, ALSO GET ON SAM CONDON AS HE IS A SHOE IN FOR LEAGUE B AND F, DOMINATED THE O AND M COMPETITION AS A WODONGA BULLDOGS STAR. ALSO **** UP

PattyH#5 Aquinas lost to La Trobe in a practice match. I think you should turn your keyboard off caps and then find out what a practice match means you silly, silly man!

No to sure how many clubs will go giving to much info to scribe when he is playing for Kew. Surely a win for Kew
You're right! He plays in the backline from memory, one of there best players. Ah well, his week 1 write up was very solid, has obvious done his background work... and if he doesn't bias kew too much I don't really mind!

So, in a nutshell Latrobe have picked up...
A 2's player from Berrigan, his fat twin and their older brother who can't play
A couple from a place no one exactly knows where it is
A guy who played a couple of games last year
Lastly, a fat guy who last played 14 years ago....
Watch Out D3.....

Don't forget the guy who played a couple of senior GVFL games at Mansfield and the kid from Wentworth who finished 4th in the U18 league medal.

But you're basically on the money if we exclude those 2.

Yes, I'm up for another season of informed selections !

UHS-VU vs Albert Park
South Mornington vs Swinburne Uni
Richmond vs Elsternwick
La Trobe Uni vs Aquinas
St Francis Xavier vs Power House
Kew vs Old Westbourne

Looking forward to the clash of the Unis during the season.

Some interesting round 1 results... Elsternwick improved a lot or poor first up performance by Richmond? Bears demolished Westbourne but I think we'll be seeing a lot of similar scores against Westbourne this year... La Trobe seemed to have started well against Aquinas but it seems as though Williams was the difference with 7. Solid start by UHS-VU as expected
