A. Collett good enough for the vic side but doesn't get a run?

Probably the most "alive" division in the whole league with plenty of permutations still on the table and I'm sure that many will be refreshing the live scores app during the afternoon. Let's hope that all teams use the live score program to keep everyone informed as the afternoon progresses.

South Mornington vs Kew
Richmond vs Power House
Albert Park vs UHS-VU
St Francis Xavier vs La Trobe Uni
Swinburne Uni vs Aquinas
Old Westburne vs Elsternwick

AP v UHS-VU - UHS-VU by 25
SFX v La Trobe - SFX by 20
Swinny v Aquinas - Aquinas by 7 points.

So... it's finals time....XMAS for footy fans.

Kew v Aquinas - Kew won't be totally comfortable coming into this match, as Aquinas has been completely unpredictable this season. Still, Kew will be heavily backed.

UHS v RC - RC is playing better football than the last time these teams met. I'm predicting a nail biter, not a winner.

EA v SFX - Another game that could go down to the wire. Are EA's gun ruckman and midfielder back in the side yet? I think so.

Reserves:

Kew v PH - Kew by a fair way.
UHS v AP - Back to back beltings by UHS?
LT v RC - Only percentage separates the two sides. RC finished 4th on the ladder despite beating everyone except Kew. Another nail biter.

I'm predicting I'll have no nails left by 2pm Sunday.

R costanzo. Not in the team of the year though willie b. :)

Very, very stiff! Runs hard, uses the ball well - was in my 25 Waz ;)

Also, this weekend there are 3 absolute crackers in the first week of finals. You are both bang on with the Aquinas-Kew prediction - it will be damn close and Aquinas have really got their act together.

Think UHS-VU will beat Richmond but not by much. Wouldn't be surprised to see the hungry 5th and 6th ranked sides cause a boilover.

Elsternwick and SFX. Two very even teams. Elsternwick has regained some key names and I think they might have the staying power to knock off SFX. I think they'll win by 4 points.

Seniors:
Kew to beat Aquinas by two goals. Kew simply have too much depth
UHS to beat Centrals by 6 goals. UHS have much stronger rucks and mids. Centrals overrated
Elsternwick to beat SFX by 1 goal in a tight contest. The Wicks' forwards will prove to be too dangerous

Reserves:
Kew by 5 goals in a closer than expected contested against the big bodied Powerhouse
UHS by 50 against AP
La Trobe too strong for the Centrals

Gee the finals system is ridiculous this year. Just look at D4. A boilover by the 5 or 6 leads to an elimination match-up between 1st and 2nd in the second week of finals while the other elim is 3rd v 6th. And in D3 we've had the 4th best team lose and still survive to play off for a grand final spot. Gotta be better formats!

Maybe a top 5?

Top spot gets the week off, then 2 v 3 & 4 v 5 in first week.

Winner out of 2 v 3 plays top spot - loser plays winner of 4 v 5

No no no. ...You don't get it. This way VAFA get one extra money grab from the lower divisions. Plus food and beverage sales for venues. The premier divs would be screaming all over headquarters about it.

It is ridiculous that if positions 1,2 and 3 win in the first week the team that finished 4th still only needs to win the following week for a chance at a premiership and promotion.

What was wrong with a final 5? Even a top 4 makes more sense with 12 teams in the comp

Tips for this week:
Seniors:
St Francis in an upset against Kew by 3 goals. Midfield too strong
UHS-VU over Elsternwick. UHS-VU too much run and carry, fitter side than Elsternwick

Reserves:
Kew over Richmond to end a very average campaign for the Centrals
UHS-VU over La Trobe by less than a kick
