I suppose it all depends on what going too hard actually means in this case. It's not really clear why the club has decided action is required

Once you hear the actual story, you'll agree, action is certainly required, especially given the local constabulary will be taking action...

If the local boys in blue are required then I hope they take the appropriate action and it doesn’t reflect on the club. As no player is paid we can’t really sanction them but if they’ve broken the law no club would want them around... would they?

Baffling, and wrong on so many levels, if they end up in D3. Would hope that the current D3 clubs put in some kind of protest to the VAFA if this is actually happening

On what basis can they request to drop a division at this late stage , or any stage? Numbers? Quality? Fear of a couple of beatings? Some bright spark at doveton university might have seen Mt Waverley surrender in southern league. Haven't they got the supercoach from Swinburne?

Look on the bright side people, it's not like winning the D2 premiership and announcing a mass exodus of players too scared to play in D1, so they cried and wailed until they were put down to D3 where, unsurprisingly, all these departed players magically reappeared to spend a year downhill skiing and boasting about how good they were compared to the opposition.

Even if they don't, I fear we are setting a dangerous precedent if clubs can now relegate themselves as they see fit
I think their rationale to do this would be interesting; same as what went on behind closed doors at the VAFA.
