As we all know there are $$$ available in all grades of the VAFA.
The Eye
;)

There is not really any doubt that there is some sort of 'enducement' across the grades in the VAFA. How much of this is actual cash is anyone's guess. TBH - the topic just gets old.

Agitators from poorly performing clubs, either sub-standard football competitions or low graders from more elite competitions set out annually to discredit the integrity of the VAFA as a credible organization.

It’s also amazing that these trouble makers rely on idle talk and hearsay plus innuendo to fuel their insinuations. Many sensible posts have belittled such missives, all with a similar tone.

Name the player(s), the club, the amount and produce evidence, or GFY.

As an aside, can any of these agitators explain why Amateur clubs can’t retain their very good players who are enticed to cashed up suburban and country clubs.

Firstly, I've only mentioned which two clubs it's not. You can speculate on who it might be all you like.

Secondly IFF and SS - I am trying to get proof, if I do then it will be reported to the VAFA let me assure you.

I have been involved in Ammos for many, many years and love the comp and what it stands for.

Schwab / Chadstone predictions - 3 wins. Any takers?
It really depends on how many opther clubs are flt weights. From where they've come from 3 wins & another half dozen competitive games would be great strides. Any better than that would be amazing.

Kudos to them for sticking with it. Their administrators & core players have earnt much respect with their ability to stick fat. Unfortunately their lack of cattle has sometimes meant that they've played guys that don't represent their club all that well. Hopefully they can get past this & built to a better place.

So what will happen if Westbourne get two sides up and going? Both in clubbies

Like I've said if suns don't get a senior team up grammarians can only put in a side for clubbies and that's one side not two so if yous are saying you have so many players then there will be some missing out.. Kinda strange how there reserves coach doesn't have a clue whats going on... Kept in the dark maybe by a the committee

Sounds ridiculous from a league perspective. Means a heap of players will end up at wrfl clubs or werribee centrals.

How's numbers looking down at the suns. Did they start back last week.

If Sth Mornington pull out/fold, the winless suns stay up in D3?

Very ridiculous from a league perspective they could have just not let the grammarians in the leauge and kept the now team known as the suns having seniors, reserves and 19s but they chose to let them in with certain agreements from both sides from what I've been told, now the vafa will most likley end up with both sides not being able to field a seniors because of the suns not having a senior team as they are all at the grammarians but on the upside the juniors have more intrest from players more then ever and the under 19s have about 25 players so the future does look bright for them

Tip top work from VAFA in 'Growing the Game'. Placing ridiculous limitations on two clubs in a growing area. Surely saner heads will prevail. Ol mate Benny Goodman will get it right.:thumbsu:

Why not protect your existing clubs?

People are making the mistake of assuming the Wyndham Suns are a new club.

The Vafa shouldnt grow the game at the expense of its existing clubs.

Hopefully it all works out.

Growing the Game is only one of the objectives of VAFA detailed in their strategic plan. GRowing the game includes new teams, new participants as well new clubs. i.e. Westbourne Grammarians FC and the rebranded Wyndham Suns. VAFA may lose significant traction in the west if silly limitations force players, coaches, and volunteers to leave the team, club, and then the league. Foothold in the area is in balance with Werribee Districts moving WRFL and establishment of two clubs in 2 years that have opted for WRFL.

Sure the previous Board & Juniors of Old Westbourne moved to Wyndham Suns, but 99% of the Senior playing group is still aligned with the School (Westbourne Grammarians). just a bunch of blokes wanting to play with their mates at a place they have called home for many years... sure the board of a football club might have decided to move but the players didn't!

Funny thing is which you will see when fixture comes out next week that both teams will have 2 sides entered in Div 4
With who ever no being able to form a side will forced to forfeit there game come round 1, I say this with confidence after seeing documents handed to me from the league.

Think you might be thinking of someone else there Mr.suns not only one big red at the club

If the league is forced into a decision, does it take the club with numbers now and no juniors or the club with less numbers now but a junior feeder.

Its difficult, but sounds like the grammanians agreed to form a club with restrictions enforced by another club. From the outside, it looks like one has the numbers and the other the brains.

What was behind the initial split? Surely has to be more than ego's!

Maybe you should get the truth....the school kicked the juniors out - everyone out west knows that...all the juniors want to do is play with their mates too. They didn't chose to move - they were made to

OK enough dirty laundry, I'm calling a halt to it before there are broad hints of financial carelessness, rumoured treachery and skulduggery, hijacking of websites/facebook pages/player databases/aeroplanes, communication with the playing group and ASIO being blocked, influence from a radical Young Liberals faction, clandestine shipments of tackle bags and water bottles to Syria via a North Korean ship, etc etc etc. in other words all the usual kerfuffle, shenanigans, half-truths and exaggeration that always goes with a club moving venues and a breakaway group electing to stay where they are, which is a perfectly understandable reaction and which they are fully entitled to do.

Good luck to both the Suns (OW) and the new Grammarians, and we'll see who runs out in round 1.

This subject is now closed and further posts will be deleted. If you wish to carry on discussing it, feel free to do so over a few cans with your mates. This isn't the place.

Well with D4 clubs scattered throughout metro Melbourne, no communication from VAFA, a delay in fixtures which leads to inability for clubs to schedule events etc, and operate as we should, because of the situation of the Suns and Grammanians, I think fair and reasonable discussion is appropriate for this forum.

I respect that you have a responsibilty to protect not only clubs you have involvement with as well as the league, however this is the big issue in D4 at the moment. To discontinue conversations is to the detriment of all other clubs.

If the Suns or grammanians dont like it, they are niave for thinking these issues wouldn't be discussed publicly.

To much dictating around here.

As someone not all that familiar with D4 clubs I find this an interesting conversation around an unusual set of circumstances. I am particularly intrigued by the apparent guidelines put in place by the VAFA.

With all due respect to the mods I have not seen anything derogatory or inflammatory – just some interesting debate from those with far greater knowledge on the matter than I.

To an outsider like me this seems both a shame and a shambles! Particularly given our competitions efforts to gain a foothold in this area of massive population growth.

Would be great if we got an informed statements from those actually involved with the clubs in question in the absence of comment or clarification from the VAFA.

Would be a pity to shut it down as this goes to the heart of local grass roots footy.

I respectfully disagree with you two. We had a similar situation with Oakleigh and the forum comments and lies getting out of hand. Exactly the same problem is developing here.

To paraphrase, it would be great if we got informed statements from those actually involved with the clubs in question in a position of authority.

As this is almost certainly not happening, I'm stopping the continued conjecture, incorrect comment, and outright lies. Things may not on the surface have been derogatory or inflammatory but you can believe they have been when quoted outside BigFooty.

Believe me, I'd love to jump into the discussion, I know a lot about this situation as it has developed over the last year or more. This is how I can be sure I am acting on conjecture, incorrect comment, and outright lies and dealing with the derogatory and inflammatory. Unfortunately despite taking a neutral position I am clearly identified as being on one side - whatever I say I'm either a turncoat or sleeping with the enemy. Just like umpiring, really.

TT, you can pick up the phone any time and talk to the people involved.

Despite the outside interest in a very fluid situation, I'm not prepared to let either side of this battle hijack the D4 thread and stir up any more ill feeling than there already is.

Well that's enough of that then I guess things will sort out late on.

But change of topic what about this weather eyy

Well contribute to page.

If your neutral and informed then put the story straight.

I dont think this is out of hand or even if people are incorrect, there is no malice.

There are interested parties. Rumour innuendo and corrections have built this site.

There has been childish back and forth that goes on undisturbed previously, yet when the moderator has his own clubs in the news, conversation over.

That is exactly what this looks like.
