So tell me genius, wot do those footy comps have too do,too be in the same shadow of the EFL.

For a start at least one has to merge with at least one other. ie north and edfl to make a true Northern league.
Then it would make their Premier league at least comparable to the EFL.

No need for those two leagues too merge, both leagues will grow rapidly over the next 10 to 20 years, because of the population growth in the north and north west.

AFL Vic blocked the Heidelberg move.
From the EFL 2007 Annual Report Page 9.

"Representatives of EFL clubs meet at a Special Meeting called by the board to consider an application from Heidelberg FC to affiliate with the league for season 2008. The clubs reject the application 42 to 41".

That's why when AFL Vic blocked the moves of Balwyn and Heidelberg , Balwyn was able to successfully appeal and entered the EFL and Heidelberg didn't.
I think I know the club but I'm not 100% sure, so I won't name them.

I thought that was their second crack at getting in and the clubs narrowly rejected them.

Didn’t they first try for 2007, and the vote for both them and Balwyn got up - only for AFL Vic to ratify Balwyn and block Heidelberg? (Based largely on geography).

Heidelberg tried again for 2008 but it didn’t get past the first stage, the clubs voted it down as above.

That’s my recollection anyway - you may well be right.

That vote was taken in May 2007. Balwyn was already playing their first season in 2007.

I'm pretty sure they had two cracks as well. I am not 100% on the years because it was around the time I moved to W.A. but I thought they were consecutive.

Their reasons for leaving the DVFL were the prime reason for the league's overhaul after the confirmation that its finances had been 'raided internally for a long period of time.'

Yep - there was a vote in the 06/07 off season to put them both in, which the clubs passed.

However AFL Vic blocked Heidelberg, and ratified Balwyn only. Hence Balwyn played EFL in 2007.

Heidelberg tried again, but failed on their own at the first hurdle when the EFL clubs voted it down. I’m pretty sure that’s the vote that is linked above.

That’s my recollection.

Anyway, reason I bring it up is I think it illustrates AFL Vic’s reluctance to allow metro clubs to play out of their “region”. It was 12 years ago but probably the last relevant example. It’d be interesting should Cranbourne, Berwick or any of the other old SEFL clubs want to enter. If they did want to play metro footy, they’re very much in the Southern region.

EFL Show during the week had Silvan to knock off East Burwood. Rams kept them to 7 points in the second half. Small ground didn't suit the Rams either.

Max Healey another boy from Vermont, BOG in the 2's in his first game.
Nunawading next week as well as top spot on the ladder when Fairpark have their bye. Fairpark have a 3 week rest before they play us. Really looking forward to the game.

Plenty pressing for selection in the Rams Seniors. All three teams are doing well and it's been a real long time since I have seen that.

Rams easily account for the Lions in both the Seniors and Reserves and the U19's with a nice win over South Croydon. As Fairpark had the Bye we have all three Ram Senior teams on top of the ladder at the current time.

On a side note, it's great to see most clubs show hospitality to their opponents. Half time drinks and food for Club officials and very warm reception in the rooms after the game to everyone and clubs even give their opponents a slab of beer after the game (some free slabs have been given to clubs and that is what they give so there is no cost). I say most as one club in particular has given a big **** you to that and to everything else.

Name the club mate . Now that u have not named them u have put every other club under a bus

Good to see you here Richie. I can only say that I don't know who it is but you can eliminate Fairpark.
I wish I was playing nowadays, nobody EVER gave us a free slab.

On the game today, well obviously a good win. The key points are Gileno with 10 and Neate with 7. But Middleton continues to go from strength to strength with another terrific performance.
Also was Max Healey with another BOG in the 2's. That's 2 BOG's in the 2 games he's played.
Still waiting to see a return of Dylan Agnew.

See you in 2 weeks Crusey!

What type of player is Max Healey? Also how are the Ex-Vermont young kids going?

Difficult to comment when I have had an extended stint out of the country.

Great the Rams (East Burwood Rams that is, just to avoid any confusion) are up & about & suddenly have some more voices. I do believe that we could form a team from contributors here that may knock of some of their opposition though. Good on them for turning it around, it will be interesting to see how far they can go in the next few years.

Gmac would make a great captain.:p
