Are these VAFA campaigners taking the piss with a 6 team division?

1. Box Hill
2. Eley Park
3. Masala
4. South Melb
5. St Johns
6. Swinburne

I also hear the VAFA "brains trust" want 18 round instead of 15 #UnevenDraw

A shambles. A waste of $11.
South Melb appears in the Div 3 draw. They must be hoping to bring in one (or more) sides from somewhere else. They can't play a 5-team division, surely to phark.

Seems South Melb are listed in D3..

South Melbourne Div 3, La Trobe Div 4 I'd imagine
Having a 6 team comp like this will reduce blow outside in score in the lowest division. Think 1st vs 10th team compared with 1st versus 6th. Still this division is for clubs one step away from clubbies or worse, folding.

Any reason as to why Wickers, Albert Park & South Melbourne have gone up to D3. Were they the next best placed teams after the departure of StFX or did they volunteer?

South Melb went up given they won the reserves grand final as well as having access to U19s/junior players vs remaining D4 clubs. I'm guessing Elsternwick and AP both made finals ahead of the remaining teams?

6 teams 2 coming back from clubbies? What a disaster.

If 1 or 2 don’t get up then what??

Would not be surprised if VAFA HQ want DIV 4 to go the way of the Dodo.

They seem to invest time & effort to prop up clubs that don't actually need propping up and s**t on anyone below D1.

Hair Hat. How are your boys at Box Hill North travelling. Recruits? Where are the boys training and what sort of numbers are you getting? Any pre-season injuries of note?

Be sure and keep us regularly up-to-date with the goings on at Deeland.
We’re taking it one training session at a time thanks AM, most of our pre Christmas sessions will be at the local, you should join us.

Surely the 2 club's coming up have guaranteed vafa they will have appropriate numbers to field 2 sides..
I’m sure they’ll try but it’s a big step and you need to recruit probably 20/30 players depending on your last years numbers and that’s without anyone leaving.

Hard to see 2 teams achieving that. Not to mention you can’t “guarantee” this early.

Thoughts?

Why not only two divisions below Premier as per the below.

Two 17 team comps.

Prem C: as normal. 2 down, 2 up
Div 1: 17 teams, 2 up, 4 down
Div 2: 17 teams (or however many can be fielded) 4 up

Making a change does three things.

1. Breaks the norm which isn't working in an attempt to generate some interest and buzz.
2. Gives an actual reason for the name difference to Premier.
3. Ensures the divisions are more fluid as clubs try to launch up the grades.

Obviously the top team will likely belt the bottom team in this equation but that already happens twice a year in most comps and potentially three times in div four.

Div 1 becomes very fluid but equally hard to get promoted and four teams exit the bottom devision every year.

It wouldn’t work. The difference from the top 3-4 to the bottom in D1 last year was enormous, couldn’t imagine the difference the further it went down

Some of the belting within divisions have only been constrained by time. There comes a point where it doesn't get any worse.
