South Mornington played Albert Park this weekend, we won both the ones and twos by probably 6-8 goals each??? (there was no scoreboard), have to say we had around 55 players for the day albert had a few blokes play two games, but was a good hitout regardless, we play Box Hill North this sunday then Elsternwick the saturday after that so some solid hit outs there before Richmond Central away round 1...

Went down and watched Box Hill play the Southern Dragons on sunday. It was a pretty even hit out with some good passages of play. I think like all practice matches, everyone was keen to get in the thick of it. After a gruelling pre season (3 a week training sessions) it was interesting to see a number of the Box Hill players cramping. I am aware of the heat but that cant be a good sign.

Any other news??

Nuske 11 straight, not a bad effort.

Really good hit out with the dragons. They have improved a lot from last year. Agree there were a few going down cramping but majority of those guys had just arrived last week. Box Hill still have around 15-20 players to come back so looking to improve on last year. Will be good hit out with Sth Mornington this weekend.

Thats a good sign for South Mornington beating a Div 3 team by that margin, how strong are Albert Park generally?

I think you will find the players cramping had doubled up from the early game.

The Dragons had definately improved from last years praccy match. Why did Penny not play forward? A few new faces and blokes played different positions to that of last year.

Good result for your guys Bob. Are you playing again this year?

We're pumped to have you guys in round 1, in the alternate strip and all that :)

Was really good to get back out on the field. Didn't notice any cramping from our blokes but I was probably suffering from heat stroke at the time. Dragons have improved massively since last year. Plenty of positives to come out of the game for us.

Albert are normally pretty strong they played d3 finals last year, they either have lost a few or just had many not available for the praccy, I am playing waz had a kick in the twos due to lack of pre season from me, might be a little tougher for me to get a game this year which isn't a bad thing for club, we will see where were at in the next couple of praccys, looking forward to round 1 in the big V, haha

Will be attending the BHN v SMorn game this Sunday. Should be interesting after the news from last weekends games.

So what is your problem anyway if I sell myself? I DO NOT want any money from a club, I do not want to stay for a Premiership and leave, I actually would love to volunteer my time to do anything the club needs even if it means play thirds or whatever.

ANYWAYS lets stop this garbage and make myself more important then I am and continue with the Thread that is the Division 4 Section 2011.

Bring on 2011 :footy:

GO SHARKS!!!!!!

Cristian??:D

Sounds like SMorn are going very well beating Albert Park by that score! either SMorn have recruited better then anyone to beat Albert Park by that much OR Albert park had ALOT of players out.

RC played against NFL Div3 side St Mary's in Seniors and Reserves. It was a good hitout for both teams. No serious injuries that I was aware of... that's the main thing. Nuske bagged 11 straight in the magoos :)

Waz, just a quick Question how have Richmond recruited so many country players? How do you do it? i work for a team on the Mornington Peninsula and admire how many players you have recruited. Please could you share your tips.

Have Box Hill Picked up any new players? If so haven't heard much from there end! They must be struggling if they just beat the Southern Dragons!

Simple... Richmond is the best suburb in Melbourne :) When people move from interstate or from the country, they want to live Central, play Central, etc.....

Go Snakes!

Thats a fair answer so then wasn't there anyone moving from the country or from interstate when you guys couldn't win a game for all those years?

Ha... Good point though... Back then nobody knew we existed. So I guess the answer to your original question is "Shameless Self Promotion".

Good on you Waz so in relation to this how did you promote your club? like Billboards, Word of mouth, maybe a little bit of cash maybe? does your league pay players?
