Wow - I haven't followed the GV league closely for a long time (grew up in Shepp) but it used to be between O&M, Geelong & GV leagues for best non-metro league in Victoria (and possibly country).

Amazing really (for me at least) to even conceive of a D4 club to take them on. Good luck; I'm eagerly awaiting news of how you guys go...

Being a boy who grew up in Kyabram and Bendigo I know the standard of the league and it is still very, very high... Euroa struggled last year but have recruited well, it will be fair to say that the result will be irrelevant this weekend. Good to test yourself against good opposition I suppose.

RC playing Euroa....who is pulling the strings down there? Norfolk, how are the boys looking at this stage of the year? That will be a massive test. The boys must have a bit of confidence in what they are doing?

Who is playing Saturday? Who is playing Sunday?

The boys definitely aren't lacking confidence but thats on the dance floors on a saturday night, as for the footy field its all going well at the moment but playing a GV team is a huge rise in class.

Having not played in the comp before mate I honestly have no idea how we will fair, things are looking good but I don't know what the standard of the league is like.

One thing is for sure though, make sure you select Trent Woodberry in your D4 supercoach team, after watching him in the intra club on the weekend he is very Brian Lakesque...:thumbsu:

Slurpee01.

I apologies for absence in this integral thread but have been out bush working at the Desalination Plant. Got back to Melbourne in the Corolla last night and have been catching up on the D$ Section thread ever since.

Interesting to here that Chadstone are quietly confident... is this in direction correlation to not being humiliated on the field for 2011 and now just being "comfortably defeated". It will intruiging to see how much improvement there will be from the "witchers-hats" of the D4 Section 4 competition.

RCAFC playing Eurora... mmm I hope that they have a player or two that can be the "general" of the CHB line. Thoughts Norfolk?

BHN are sounding like a genuine threat to the "Students" title as pre- season favourites for the silverware, looking forward to seeing their new tall recruits that have been clunking the pill all summer long.

Whispers out...

Manningham vs Kew on Saturday.

That will be a big test! Interesting that Euroa would go for that, would've thought they'd want a C/D1 opponent at least. Good luck with it.

BHN are playing Emmaus St Leo's this week.

Kind of makes you wonder why St Leo's are happy to play BHN in that case.

Good to see a strong country contingent on the forum. I too grew up playing in the GV - at Rochy. I'm under the impression that it used to be much stronger than it is now (clearly nothing at all to do with my departure), but still a huge get by Richmond to snag that praccy game. Very interested to hear how they go. The sharks travelled up to St Arnaurd a couple of weeks back. North central league isn't the strongest going around but it was a good hitout. Made a weekend of it up there with the saints boys, about 20 sharks staying at the pub in the main street on the Saturday night. Looks like it could turn in to an annual event.

Looking forward to the VAFA launch tonight! Should be on the froffies within the hour.

I heard rumour there was a lot of talk going around at the season launch about what teams are stacking up where. Can anyone that was there shed some light?

Hi All,

Just a quick message to introduce myself as the Division 4 scribe for 2011. I'm going to do the best job I can, but not being a part of Division 4 myself, I'm going to rely heavily on the information that is provided for me. I'm sending out emails today to the relevant committee contacts provided to me, but if anyone on here wants to send me a PM with details of the previous round, upcoming club events, player milestones etc. it would be greatly appreciated. I know it's a lot easier to send through something after a win than a loss, but the more you send to me, the more you will be reading about your club in the record.

I want to provide the Division 4 community with more than just the results/goalkickers/best players, so letting me know about where specific players lined up, highlights of the game and turning points would be fantastic. Your thoughts about the facilities and ground at away games will also be welcome, to give me more of an insight into Division 4 (try to keep it constructive). For the round 1 record, I'd love to hear about your club's preseason, arrivals and departures, practice matches/pre-season camps and new appointments.

Cheers and good luck for the year,

Simon Fuller

Welcome to d4 then Toohas.

There was a lot of chatter at the season launch... Most of which has been mentioned on here... So good luck filtering out what's true.

Firstly, let me say what a great night it was and a pleasure catching up with all the other Presidents.

It's been relatively quiet on the forum since to the other night because we all concluded where everyone will stand at the end of the season so not much point in posting any more. :)

Based purely on preseason speculation, gossip, innuendo, perceived cockiness, number of registrations and Big Waz's detective work, it was concluded that Swinburne will be Premiers with Eley Park runners up followed by Centrals finishing third. Asides from Manningham, the rest of us didn't get much of a mention. Lots of pressure now on those three teams to deliver. :D

But in all seriousness, everyone agreed that it's the most evenly balanced D4 in many years and not likely to be the big gaps as in previous years.

Good luck to all.

I think D4 football was the winner on the night Kotsa. With booze a close second.

Totally agree Waz. Great bunch of people on our table and the other D4 tables. No doubt booze played a big role in our decision making process. Even worst, the bottle claimed our team manager!

Good hitout with Euroa today. They're a quality side....and won by plenty. The reserves was the opposite result, which was interesting.

I hear Sth Morn beat Elsternwick and I saw Chadstone get thumped by Hampton.

BHN had a solid hit out vs St Leo's Emmaus yesterday.

Seniors went down by 5 goals and showed some very good signs.

Saw the second half at Elgar Park. You must have been ahead at half time as they dominated the play and scoring from the time I arrived.

Not too many changes to the BHN roster from what I saw. A couple of the older lads from BHN did seem to be playing well though.
