You assume I'm not doing something 'positive' (either on BF or IRL) = false pretense. Seeing as you claim to be one of the best investor/businessmen in the world I'm surprised you think someone would reveal business ideas/projects on a blog thread devoted to the Federal political situation in Bonnie Doon, Wang, ski resorts and the surrounding Kelly Country districts...

I am legitimately interested. disclose it wherever you are more comfortable.

There almost certainly are. Very glad to see that you are finally starting to see that there are standards of discourse that are unacceptable. Pity that your new found concern has to express itself in a partisan way rather than explaining the problem, as you now "understand" it to be.

On a related issue IMO the age photograph of her was disgraceful. I couldn't care less how she looks and that photo was deliberate denigration. Even the gorgeous Sophie does not deserve that sort of ridicule.

I have to agree. The House will be a much better place without her but that picture of her in the age was terrible and not sure why they ran with it.

There you go

New England - combined Labor-greens Vote = 16.06%

Lyne - combined Labor-greens Vote = 26.96%

Not much doubt that the voters of those electorates were pissed off at being taken for mugs.

Erm, Rip.

2010 Lyne - combined Labor-Greens: 17.78%
A combined swing of 9.18%.

2010 New England - combined Labor-Greens: 11.70%
A combined swing of 4.46%

That's some good mathematics, Ripper.

Proves my point , Oakshott and Windsor were elected overwhelmingly by conservative voters who they turned around and shat on. Plants.

Labor have never polled well in New England, ever. Trying to say that voters turned on Labor & Greens shows you have no idea what you are talking about, to see what the locals thought have a look at how independents polled not Labor/Greens.

This whole discussion about whether it was conservative or Labor/Greens voters who supported Oakeshott and Windsor is pretty irrelevant. Rural politics is not really about right vs left. It is about country vs city.

The reason that the ALP and the Greens poll so low in rural areas isn't really because everyone outside of the cities is a rabid social conservative. It's because the Greens and the ALP are urban-oriented parties. Their prime voting demographics live in the cities. Their policies are overwhelmingly skewed towards city people's concerns. Rural branches of those parties don't really have a distinct voice. 'Country Labor' is basically just a brand - they aren't even represented on the ALP's National Policy Forum.

Guys like Oakeshott (who openly says he is anything but a social conservative) have shown that if you stand up for your local area, country people don't much care what your opinions on stuff like gay marriage are.

Abbott dodged a bullet she is a low altitude flier of the highest order. Unfortunately this means we will see her more as a "research fellow" at the IPA ranting about socialists as if she is still in the Melbourne Uni ref
