nick was a consistent player and worked really hard. today he is remembered as bein injury prone because of the way he finished his career, but the reality is that he hardly ever seemed to be injured for the majority of his career.

regarding dixon, he needs to step down for his own good, before his reputaton is tarnished by the way he bows out. at this rate he is endangering out chances of making the finals this year.

how many to go before he makes 200??

Nick Holland was a very good player untill injury ruined his last 3 years. He probley copped alot more than he would have if he had left at the end of 2004 rather than 2005.

Ben Dixon is not as good as he once was but still gives a fair target and provides support for Roughead, Franklin etc. His seiner experience is probly what keeps him in the 22. He won't be around next year.

Even accounting for poor delivery, he was useless today.
A forward line missing Buddy, Boyle, Willo and Thorp was crying out for a seasoned, strong-bodied player to do something.

He was nowhere to be found...again.

HURRAH!!!!!:) Damn straight, Dicko is Rubbish!!!!

After reading that Dixon's leadership abilities thread a few weeks ago I almost threw up as it sounded like most Hawk fans thought he is worth his place in the team..due to his leadership!? I actually wrote up a response but then my pc crashed so I lost it..Dang it.

Now I need to be leaving for work shortly so I try and make this brief, but I have feeling about the subject so we shall see. My issues with Dicko are these:

- He would be great on your team if the game was wheelbarrow, as he spends most of his time on the ground. Hard to remember someone who goes to ground so easily and lets the opposition grab the ball.
- while on the ground he is a spectator, someone would do well to explain the term '2nd effort' cos I never saw it from Dicko
- wasteful kicking - for someone who has always been touted as a brilliant kick, wheres the proof, it sure aint in the pudding
- Leadership..Overall he has little or no impact on a game. Yes sometimes forward entries can be average, and i know that one can't take much from players Dreamteam scores but i think when you are getting the bottom score out of both teams week in week out, doesn't that say something? Hardly inspiring leadership stuff.
Maybe his best leadership work is off the field passing on his intel to his protege on the ladies.

I remember Dicko flying for screamers out at Waverley and I have waited most of his career for him to do offer something, sadly he has had a couple of decent seasons and is what..relying on his reputation? to stay in the side? I honestly think he has some dirty mail on some of the Hawks bigwigs as I can't work out how he can remain in the team

I would put money on no other team picking him up next year if we delisted him..I don't think he could justify a spot in any other team in the league.

There! I feel better having got that off my chest, maybe I can just laugh now instead of screaming at the tv whenever Dicko mucks something up.

Go Hawks!

I neva saw much of Nick coz he had been injured and out of form for so long. Was he really this good? I have read good things about him on this site, but my dad rekons he counldt kick and had no footy brain and was the most overpaid and selfish player eva.

Your dads wrong and knows nothing. Holland got injured when he was as good as Carey and never recovered because the medical team doctors we had stuffed his shoulders and they were never right again. He played his guts out for us and played for Box Hill to teach the youg kids to play and now your seeing the benefits of his leadership and trainig wth the kids there now guns for us. You need to Dutchy more respect then you are.

Nick Holland is a legend of Hawthron and wanted to play on for another year for less money, he would of been great for the kids and a kid like Throp would of leaned plenty by how Dutchy trained and played. Hes an inspiration for the players and to play elite footy and get a Law degree is amazing. We neve got to see the best of Dutchy after he boke his shoulders and I recon in 2001 he was the most dominate CHF in the AFL.

I thought Dutchy was a veterinarian? And Dutchy retired like 3 seasons ago when Thope wasnt here!
