I don't drink alcohol, smoke or do drugs - does that make me a bad person?

No. What of my post would infer that?

I just think it's a tad high horse behaviour to criticise people for drug use when someone drinks themselves.

FWIW I find most people who don't use mind altering substances to be quite boring. Not a hard and fast rule but I've yet to strike up a close friendship with someone who doesn't at least drink.

you'd love the meth heads who wash windows up at the Canning Bridge traffic lights then

especially the ones who end up with bipolar?
I've enjoyed five or six spliffs a day for twenty odd years, and I've never experienced any serious mental health problems. Most of the serious issues resulting from pot comes as a result of heavy use in the teens before the brain has properly developed.

Was she bipolar because of the drugs or were the drugs a symptom of the bipolar?
she started on marijuana, progressed to other things, all before the age of 18. Highlight of her life was becoming a hooker to fund it, which is probably better than her doing breaking and entering. You can possibly understand why drugs don't excite me. She is now in and out of Graylands.

Those who've had a phuqed up family life, can be from bullying all the way to sexual abuse. The drugs open up apart of the brain/consciousnesses thats already been opened up from the abuse. Without guidance, support of nourishment from being around others, they spin out..

Sometimes they spin out as a result of a confused sexuality, confusement brought upon by societies demands. The drugs are just a diner on highway 66 ,the road of life. Plenty of diners on that road, selling all sorts of stuff. Pot luck which one appeals to your tastebuds.

Hey I seriously feel for you and her, the behavior must have a series impact on your family unit

But why did she use drugs? Has anyone ever bothered to investigate?

I think she was just a spoilt brat who hung out with the wrong kids - went to one of the top all girls schools in Perth

maybe and I'm only guessing, she realized the bullshit she was being taught at that school? The bullshit peer pressure being in such a school, how to get the top you gotta tread on other people. The drugs helped her escape that pain. because it is pain, it's horrible when see how cruel the mob is,the mentality they have, the hypocrisy.

Booze is bad but nothing beats meth.

I've only tired meth a couple of times (was overseas and adopted the 'when in Rome' attitude when some locals offered it to me) but it's the only drug I've ever taken that I would be hesitant to take again.

Not because I didn't enjoy it (quite the opposite) but because one of it's biggest effects was causing me to crave more meth. Dangerous, dangerous drug, and I can see how that one could ruin lives very easily.

With regard to psychedelics though, I genuinely think the world would be a better place if every politician and world leader had tried acid. Lumping all illicit drugs in the same basket just because some politicians have decided they should be illegal is a stupid and simplistic mindset.

This is what makes drugs interesting.

I'm inclined to hit the pipe once or twice a month (completely clean of all illicit's 3 months now - giving myself a little mini break) and have never felt the urge to overdo it nor am i bothered if it becomes unaccessible for a period of time.

For me it's just something to keep me going for an entire weekend when I need to. If it's there it's there and I'll hit it. If it's not, it's not. Never got the second day blues where all I can think about is how much I need some smoke.

You are right though, for anyone that forms an addiction it's horrific for your body. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it was worth for your body smoking meth every day than injecting heroin every day. Completely suppresses your appetite (how many fat meth heads do you see floating around?) and can really **** with your brain. If anyone has seen someone have a meth freak out you'll see some serious paranoia kicking in. it's not pretty.

Mushrooms and Acid are more 'useful', I mean it's a crazy trip but I didn't really take anything back.

Good summation of shrooms and acid.

Something like ecstasy makes you a lovely person when you're on it but that's as far as it goes, there's no flow on into your normal life.

But psychedelics like shrooms and acid (in particular) can fundamentally change your whole outlook on life. And you don't have to regularly use either, just one or two acid trips can be enough to awaken an understanding in you that can't be explained to people who've never tried it.

I have a pretty addictive personality and used to hit the speed pretty hard back in the day. Even in my worst periods I always felt like I was in some semblance of control though, no matter how tenuous.

But it only took a few hits of meth for me to realise it was a beast I would never be able to tame if I had regular access.

Different stokes I guess...
