Do Carlton need to undertake a list rebuild?

10 games? More like half a dozen lmao.

6 games out of 23 would generally classify as 'most' to people with a primary level education or above.
Might need to check the record books there kid, you did not beat any top 15 sides in your last 10 games

And there were some serious drubbings including the famous 0-60 wipe out in the finals

Fast forward to 2025 you lose the first 4 games

This is SHOCKING form carried from one season to the next and now you're 14th and cooked 🍳 make all the excuses you want but reality is the Blues are 🚮

Still not answering the question of how many good players you think are on Carltons list...

Quite simple for this year imo.

Basically career worst seasons for Walsh, Mckay, Curnow, Cripps, Docherty and Saad. Cerra been far below his best, Weitering too.

Add to that missing Newman, Elijah Hollands and a few other role players for extended periods.

Our best player this year has been Hewett who's meant to be our 4th option defensive mid. Sums it up quite well I think.
Carlton's list is probably still top 8 quality, like 5-8, but Voss is not getting the best out of them. I wonder if their best has passed them by too.

Their playing style is well suited to finals when it's congested and often cold weather footy.
However, it's so taxing that they can barely make it to the finals.

Something's gotta give.
Move back to princes park, bank wins like the cats do at gmhba, make finals

Nah, the list definitely isn't top 8 quality. We finished 8th last year, the lost got worse = not surprising

I think what is missed is that we have already begun a list rebuild of sorts. Something like 16 players are gone from the 2023 list and this season we have 18 players aged 21 and under. That's a huge turnover. We initially lost some good veterans backups and depth - guys like Stocker, Fisher, who went elsewhere for playing time. Then last year moved on a LOT - injury prone veterans (Martin, Marchbank, Cunningham) as well as Kennedy/Owies. That's a lot of good ordinary players gone.

We still have a pretty good top 6-8 players and I think supporters and general observers tend to base predictions on that, but depth is much more important. For Carlton, even if you count your way to player 23 you start to get into guys like Cooper Lord who had never played a full game at the start of this year. Losing three players to knee injuries, and then whatever has happened with Eli Hollands (and Harry McKay) gets us to player 28 and that's before more regular injuries hit, and we just haven't had the depth.

As an example, the only forward/ruck replacement for Harry McKay is rookie listed 19 year old Hudson O'Keefe (or Lewis Young playing out of position). That is just such a big drop off in quality and structure and we have had 3-4 spots and injuries hit in that way.

Voss has been fine - updated game plan, lots of good moves but he's coached one handed a lot this year.

Yeah maybe it is more top 8-10. Most of your players have been down on form, and I think that's partly coaching/system. Cripps is still serviceable but far from elite. The likes of Saad, Cerra aren't really dangerous anymore. Watch Martin turn into Stengel at Geelong, lol jk but let's hope not.

I do agree with a lot of your fans you do need a full clean out and rebuild though. It must be painful after so many years. As an Eagles fan I'm only just adjusting to the idea of being at the bottom for so long. I do actually hope the Blues and Dons become competitive again, would make things more interesting.

I did

Moir, Smith (probably) and now Silvagni

The rest are rubbish on current (2025) form

Lost to Richmond and North, bottom 5 crap side, hurts the eyes to watch them
So Cripps, Curnow, Mckay, Walsh, Weitering, Hewett, Cerra and TDK

Not even 'good' players...

Mr Rogers Clown GIF

Hollands looks decent, HOF (provided comes back good from his knee) and lord looks a real player. But I do think they need to get rid of a few of their vets and have a mini rebuild
Have heard a few people talking up Lord, I just don't see it. Every bit the butcher as some of our other names regularly called out for poor disposal imo.
