Would it trouble you too much if I asked you for PROOF of your ridiculous claim?

I’m saying all of them gone.
So like removing Grundy (BnF), Treloar (AA mid), Langdon, J.Thomas (38 goals), Stephenson (38 goals), Varcoe, Phillips, Mayne who all played 20 games from our 2018 GF team.

Removing 3 old veterans who are not the players they were in the 2010s, who we already have shown we can win without ain't that big a stretch.

He’s also 35 this year and that’s the issue.
I wouldn’t get rid of him but he could just as easy retire at the end of the season.
Elliott is born August 92, more than a year younger than Jack Gunston, and just a signed a 2 year contract after having a career best season.

Perhaps all the footy he missed due to injury might actually help his longevity, despite being 4 years older than Maynard he has played less games of footy.

But good to know you wouldn't get rid of him 🤣🤣

What time period are you talking?
How many close games did we lose with all 4 playing in?
Do we get to bring in replacements, or have to play with less players?

We have won 90% of the games Sidey / Pendles have missed since 2023 - winning 14 of 16 without them.

After Howe broke his arm in 2023 Rd1 against Geelong, he didn't play again until Rd15, by that stage Pies were sitting pretty on top of the ladder with a 11-2 record.

Jamie Elliott missed the entire 2018 season, we played in a GF without him.
So too Darcy Moore

Some clubs have been happy to play the kids and be a development list for over 20 years and don't look like finishing top4 anytime soon.

Just lazy basic stuff to think having early draft picks equals success in 4-5 years.

Tis 2020 all over again

Oldest list in the competition, came up well short in finals, over reliant on the olds (who aren't good enough to win a flag 18-19 were our best chance) the "experts" claim it is rebuild time.
In 2020 most of your oldest players didn't play the majority of games. You had Lynden Dunn(2 games), Beams(0), Greenwood(6), Varcoe(9), Reid(2). Most of them were gone soon after.
Your reliance wasn't on over the 30yr olds in 2021, and was instead on 25-27 yr olds(DeGoey, Moore, Maynard, Crisp, Adams, Grundy)...who were the top 6 vote getters for Collingwood in the AFLCA that year, and then you added Nick Daicos at the end of it.

You don't have a core of 25-27yr olds now that are leading the charge heading in 2026, and you barely have anything coming through under 25.
Of the top 8 players in Collingwood's AFLCA votes in 2025, 5 are over 30. There's 2x Daicos and Long who are under 27, and Long is a battler.

You Collingwood fans keep putting your fingers in your ears and talking about how you're going to just keep on challenging or competing for flags, but anyone who's followed footy and particularly older clubs who've tried to stay up know that you have to have some top line youngsters who can replace the older heads in order to do that, and Collingwood simply don't.

If Gunston doesn’t play.

Us Collingwood fans don't know what will happen. But there's a good chance it's not 10 years as a bottom 4 team like most are predicting.

All clubs look to bulk up there elite young talent while still trying to compete.
No, most seem to be happy being shizen and as young as possible to focus on how many top 10 picks they can get.
No idea why Collingwood think they won’t have too.
Collingwood are actually trying to compete instead of just being young and shit.

But apparently if your team contends for but doesn't win the flag, it proves the list management approach was wrong, and instead any experienced and proven player over 30 should have been delisted and replaced with an unproven kid with potential, and whilst it means you're assured of bottom 6 finishes for a handful of years, you MIGHT be good enough to contend for a flag in 8 to 10 years.
