I keep hearing, Richmond are playing a great brand of footy. Richmond are the real deal. Hardwick is talking a lot, encouraging Collingwood to stick with Nathan after Richmond stuck with him which lead to the media labeling it a revival. Is it a revival so far? It's not, we all know what Richmond need to do.

2006 was the last time they defeated their first opponent, Geelong. 11 years ago. Selwood (29) hadn't been drafted yet.

Say they lose for Geelong for the 15th straight game, they then likely play a 14-2 Sydney, who Richmond lost to at home a few weeks ago.

Supposedly like Floyd Mayweathers head, Richmonds forward line is too small. As we often hear from J. Brown OTC, it is harder for small forwards to perform their role under finals pressure, a much more contested ball game.

Although I believe that how they play is the least of the worries. They've beaten Hawthorns, Sydneys and had hot streaks leading into finals. Richmond have earned their top four place and likely have a tough draw, but are they forgiven if they don't win a final? Say Richmond don't win a final, I believe Hardwick's press conference will tell if Richmond will ever win a final under him.

Do Richmond get a pass mark if they fail to win a final? I think not, and I see straight sets for them.

Depends where the pass mark is coming from.

In context, everyone thought the Tiges would miss the 8 and Hardwick could well be sacked. Now he's got 3rd in the H&A season...

But as I think 7 or 8 years or whatever is is enough time as a coach to win a final. Worse case scenario they exit in straight sets and lose Dusty, and don't use their money on a decent acquisition, that's a massive fail going forwards.

Pretty much though I think given we all thought they'd miss the 8, it's going to be a pass. A finals win would be nice for their confidence though, surely it hangs on the leaders a bit, if they can get the monkey off the back who knows what can happen playing freely!

I think if they had a 2nd KF they'd be sure to win a final, yes smalls are doing well but I do agree with Brown it makes it harder. If they rectify that this off-season, then we all know their mids, defence are very good and their forwards would take the next step, that'd be a pass because the belief would be that a finals win is expected in 2018 and an assumed goal. If they miss out this year I'm sure Tiges fans would agree they still have a few pieces to complete anyway.

I would still say it's a pass given the side profile. You have to look at the team that has been playing majority of the year. I don't think we are peaking for another two years. Regulars have included:

Short - 16 of 32 career games
Rioli - 21 of 39
Townsend - 2 of 33
Lambert - 20 of 48
Nankervis - 20 of 32
Bolton - 6 of 6
Markov - 6 of 14
C Ellis - 6 of 23
McIntosh - 20 of 49
Graham - 2 games
Broad - 6 of 8
Menadue - 9 of 28
Butler - 19 of 19
Castagna - 21 of 26
Soldo - 7 of 7
Stengle - 2 of 2

Tigers' 2017 is already a big pass.

Many people thought they were going to finish bottom 4 this year.

To have finished top 4 in 2017 is an excellent result.
They are playing some great footy, and have a game style which will be difficult to stop in finals.

Tigers are right in the mix for the flag this year

Normally yes, as it would be their second best output of the century, and they aren't an intimidating contender who expects to win the flag. But after those three consecutive elim defeats relatively recently in 2013-15, another 0-2 in 2017 will be painful. Recent history in September means winning a final is the goal.

The pass mark keeps moving.

Pre season, suggesting we'd make finals was laughed at.

Then we started winning, and it was 'haven't beaten anyone'...

Then it was likely finals, and we had to win a final.

If we win a final, then I'm sure the bar will move again.

I'm confident that if we win the flag, the BF 'neutrals' will be all about how it doesn't mean much due to <insert reason here>.

So really, I don't care about your pass mark. We made 3rd with a very young team, and whatever we achieve (or don't) next year will almost certainly be better, so whatever your judgement, the future looks sunny.
