But I thought the Greens opposed hazard reduction burning?
They have in a number of instances. And opposed grazing in national parks. Its not like noone said anything. Still warnings were ignored.

A Victorian forest fire chief who quit following Black Saturday is warning a combination of fear about planned burns and increasing forest fuel loads is putting the state at risk of deadly bushfires.

When the Victorian Bushfire Royal Commission handed down its report in 2010, it was sharply critical of the Victorian Government's lack of prescribed burning, where patches of public land are deliberately set alight, to reduce fuel and to create firebreaks.

"The amount of prescribed burning occurring in Victoria is inadequate," it said.

Haha-I’ve got an era for you and your climate denying cronies. It’s called Jurassic. ;)
Strange response. That thread is based on an assumption that anthropogenic CO2 is causing dangerous warming to the planet. What are the rational policies that follow from that?

Who's noone?

Also that article doesn't claim anything to do with the Greens. Classic meds trying to blame anyone he doesn't like. Surprised you haven't blamed Sadiq Khan and muslims.

Ignorant as usual. Green opposition to fuel reduction via burning and grazing in national parks. Ditto opposition to logging which hurts efforts to stop fire breaks being created. The ALP govt in Victoria was well aware of the issue but did nothing as they wanted to appease the greens and the ignorant squealers.

Typical Bades, apologist as always. This has been going on for a long time.

The extent of green opposition to hazard reduction was clear in the days following the Canberra tragedy. The NSW Nature Conservation Council on January 21 denounced the practice as "futile" and a "knee-jerk reaction". The NCC chairman, Rob Pallin, said: "People who claim that hazard reduction burning is a cure- all for bushfire risk are either fooling themselves or deliberately trying to fool the public."

The Greens MLC Ian Cohen followed up the next day, calling for "an assessment to the contribution of global warming to the severity of the drought", and "education and community awareness programs to reduce the incidence of arson".

In July 2007 Scott Gentle, the Victorian manager of Timber Communities Australia, who lives in Healesville where two fires were still burning yesterday, gave testimony to a Victorian parliamentary bushfire inquiry so prescient it sends a chill down your spine.

"Living in an area like Healesville, whether because of dumb luck or whatever, we have not experienced a fire … since … about 1963. God help us if we ever do, because it will make Ash Wednesday look like a picnic." God help him, he was right.

Gentle complained of obstruction from green local government authorities of any type of fire mitigation strategies. He told of green interference at Kinglake - at the epicentre of Saturday's disaster, where at least 147 people died - during a smaller fire there in 2007.

It was testimony from a Victorian parliamentary bushfire inquiry

"Myths being debunked".

No, wrong as usual.

As former fire chiefs recently pointed out, of all factors driving a fire’s severity – temperature, wind speed, topography, fuel moisture and fuel load – fuel load is the only one humans can influence.

The royal commissio
n into Victoria’s Black Saturday bushfires identified serious shortcomings in land and fuel management, primarily the domain of the states.

lol. Much of this started with the ALP trying to get green prefs in the 80s.

hardly debunked.

oh and when the Greens got in to power in Tas what did they do? Yep, stopped logging and cut controlled burning.
And Tasmania has since gone up in flames, nothing left.

Dear oh dear

Deranged and Desperate

It is beyond question that locking up national parks from logging and grazing and reducing offs increases dramatically the risk of fire damage. Policies the greens have long espoused.

You are just arguing with yourself.

Now run along and play the fool elsewhere.

Actually, this thread is based on a failure to understand the links between global warming and extreme weather events and consequently is critical of the greens for making those links.
The Greens Party however, as the science shows, is correct to make those links and as a political party is well within it’s rights to call out a government that is in denial of science.
A peruse of the Green’s policies will show you that they have numerous rational policies aimed at addressing these issues. The same can’t be said for the LNP policies and actions and in any case, as they are the ones in power, it makes more sense to question their behaviour.

It wont make any difference given we only account for 1% of emissions

Whats with the science DENIAL?
C'mon. Even your guru Alan Jones acknowledges 1.3%, which is shocking per capita.
You should read Shadows of Consumption, to help you understand some of the impacts we are having on others globally.
You're also forgetting all the coal we export that gets burnt off elsewhere and counts as others' emissions. This pushes us up to about 4% and now we're in the top 6 contributing to carbon emissions. We're like the drug cartels, exporting to poorer nations.
But aside from that, we are wealthy and educated enough to begin a shift towards "sustainable energy". And no, renewables are not the be all and end all.
It's not just about coal, we should be looking at transport solutions also.
And efficiencies in agriculture.
Our governments should also be investing in NETs.
There's a lot of money to be made from this wave of social change. It's coming. You can't stop it. Just a shame conservatives are holding us back and stopping us from being leaders globally and benefiting both socially and financially.
But yeah, let's dig another hole in the ground that's not even financually viable without subsidies from the Indian government.
But it's clear you didn't actually read the article you posted. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Apologies if you're not an Alan Jones sycophant, you just seem like you are.

And the number one reason we can't burn enough "fuel". Less suitable days due to climate change.

That's incorrect. It's completely valid to argue that you think there is a link between CO2 increases and global warming, and support a party who shares your views. But it's absolutely shit behaviour to say that people currently in government are arsonists.

The people who let the Murdoch press, Andrew Bolt and Alan Jones do their thinking for them are looking pretty stupid right now (let's call them the leaners). Unfortunately they refuse to accept that they have been very stupid and have been convinced by those that tell them precisely what to think that being conned by anti climate change propaganda aimed at the stupid is actually a mark of intelligence. Now the poor silly drones are looking to deflect, and they've been told by their overlords to point their fingers at who they see as the adults in the room; tax paying educated professionals who vote Green (let's call them the lifters).
It would be great if the leaners could just get out of the way and let the lifters get on with what has to be done.
Why are people looking stupid, I read the New Daily its free and do they ever sprout some bulldust, and bias, but its fun to to see all the one line answers just insults and stupidity and any disaster to blame climate change for, hah.
I never have needed some bloody news hound with leaning any which way for me to see logic, and to recognise bulldust and political point scoring expecially using bloody disasters floods bushfires droughts you name some green idiot will blamer every thing on climate "change" well climate has been changing since existence of the living plant s and creatures cam about.
Way before fossil fuels and luddite ism became the new fashion, ice ages came about and melted , well I guess climate was cooling and warming way back then aren't you folks getting sick and tired of this rubbish , and blaming the wrong thing ion other wrong things, don't you reckon there were bushfires a thousand years ago??? And droughts, , it is the past, you look at to get hold of your future with sense, of course as I have said before we have always HAD climate change, its the history of nature on earth, it didn't start with the industrial revolution it was already here, we may influence it a bit, instead of arguing with political abusing we should be looking towards how we make our fires not so catastrophic, every fire is catastrophic, our influence have a serious look at the size of this planet, you know what I've said before, we are miniscule, but to ourselves we are a plague, but a real plague and something to worry about would be if Fire Ants grew into the same size as us and multiplied a million times more than us, our total population can fit in a very small area if crammed in, we don't do that to prove a point but that has been mathematically worked out, and even if not totally accurate it gives you an idea of our spread and how WE look at it, and if you really have a think about space or area, we are really insignificant little animals, our major problem is we have big brains.

And now we have phones, airoplanes, cars, TV's, computers, very much better medical services, elimination or close to it of diseases that used to kill millions. we know this because in some third world countries they are just getting help for stuff we barely see any more, discoveries to make life easier.

You know that fossil fuel burning is the only way people in BIG business will be able to afforsd the renewables we will eventually have but a longer time away than people think, we have had two trial places for wave power in Australia that went down because they ran out of money , and that is now, while the fossil fuels are still being used but some stations are being shut down

Do you know , I asked this the other day, do you know who will RENEWABELISE the planet, it'll be the big business' along with the huge mining and industrialised companies with billions and billions of dollars they will do it when it is timed and affordable and it maybe in the next century, but they will be the ones , the ones everyone hates right now, but still buys their products and uses electricity from. Governments may help they can't do it all, but how sick to death of this political bullshit about the climate do you folk out there get. I am fed up.
I don't follow right , left , green , communist , Nazi or fascist ideals from media news readers, I do see great piles of their biased manure thrown out, and they all do it, shoot Bolt if you like but try the ABC if you really are neutral, think about that blind freddy knows they all spring from one suide or the other, if you can you watch all and try to make out the real from the crud.

I have had to, though, give Q&A the arse, because it is positively totally in agreement with itself these days, never used to miss it. And I'm a foremer disillusioned long term unionist, loved kicking the crap out of Sir Henry and Mal Fraser, loved Bobby Hawk worshipped big Pauli although he has changed a bit too, on the journey discovered that a great deal of the union movement are as crooked as some of the liars we put in parliament, hence my look at both sides now more evenly, and I can say , Morrison may be slow , and Turnbull was an idiot and egotist, but when Bill lost , WE ALL DODGED A BULLET!

Now you should all be thoroughly fed up with my common sense. Because that's what it is.

Also anyone who considers ant-vaccination nut cases anywhere close to climate reasoners in their thinking, (called by the dumb the "deniers") that's anyone who disagrees with warmers, you are definitely off the air and politically w***ed OF YOUR BRAIN!

So we blame the Liberals in NSW?
You tell me, I mean I am not sure what you think, you blame every disaster on earth since the industrial revolution on climate change.

But speaking of governments of all persuasions, the deliberate murder of water distribution in NSW SA QLD Vic happening , people who have been responsible over two decades of that and people who have allowed crops grown in an area it should not happen, I would hang them from a tree, well no I don't believe in capital punishment, but they'd die in jail, the world would go to war over water, and manipulation is another bugbear that makes me angry and it is never been really opened up, there is Cubbie station the pipe from Wentworth to Broken Hill feeding water up to there , from a drained Murray , they grow almonds and walnuts and cotton out on the flood plain, they make dams, and hoard water, then the Edwards river near Deniliquin over flows and some farmers can't get a water allocation, tha only a few weeks back , may have been solved , but haven't heard boo, since.
So that's climate change too hey?

Lots of utter garbage in your post but I will concentrate on this little nugget of wisdom.

You are not "deniers" because you disagree with the so called "warmers." You are deniers because you have turned your back on the science. It is overwhelming and undeniable (unless you are a moron). The only "scientists" who are arguing against the facts presented have an agenda. You are not "climate reasoners" at all because the position you take is in no way reasonable. According to the science we are facing an existential problem. It is not reasonable to question the experts and it is not reasonable to take no action to mitigate the position the planet is in. Climate reasoners...give me a spell. You lot are social terrorists.

And it puts you in the same basket as anti-vaxers, whether you like it or not.
