heartbroken said:I completely disagree. Campbell got all his possessions and goals when the heat went out of teh game.
His quality of possesion (15m - 30m chip kicks) and the amount of time he holds up play just isnt in line with the new Richmond game plan.
Campbell has been a fine servent to the RFC. However, his time is now up and if anything, he should see out the rest of his career in teh forward pocket or back pocket. DEFINITELY NOT THE MIDFIELD
tigertime said:I am not a big fan of the stats because history has shown that Campbell has had 20+ possessions and has had no influence on a game of football whatsoever. In the same game knights would have had 2/3 the disposals and yet have won us the game.
But in extreme cases, they have value, and these stats highlight his ineptness, which has come to an all time high.
The real impact he has is in turnovers and opponents running off of him.
Your statement that he keeps the ball in the forward line because he takes 30 seconds to kick is just amazing. Campbell has one speed setting. Very slow.
His direct opponent is getting the ball out of the forward line and setting up goals for the opposition. Campbell rarely chases and hopes for a turnover.
With an exciting array of youngsters, now is the time to have a fast richmond side. We cant afford slow players who have little or no impact on a game of football.
Its not vindictiveness that he has played poorly all year. Its a reality. For a player to be playing in the forward line, he isnt kicking goals??? He isnt winning the hard ball. He was an average kick before but now he cant even kick properly.
Why should we carry him to the end of the season when he should have retired last year??? Does he have to lose us a game, (perhaps a final) as he tried to on the weekend, for people to take this seriously.
Every player should be selected on merit. He hasnt earnt his selection once this year.
Infamy said:Campbell had 22 possesions in about 64 mins of ground time on the weekend. that's only half a game
Still in our best 22 and could play on for his 300 in this form
silence ofthe Robert said:Campbell actually got 26 possies in 81 minutes of game time and Johnson 22 possies in 59 minutes. Great effort both of them. They were important on Saturday, in the complete midifield shut out of the blues (especially in the first half).
There are many posters that really dont know what they are talking about. Go and have a look at the Port game tape and examine the second quarter. Tuck and Pettifer turned the game back our way but Campbell came on and slowly steadied the ship in the middle and started the ball moving in our direction after we looked gone.
He has been a vital contributor this year and I doubt we would have been 5 -2 without him. Very important especially in the bulldogs game and the Port game.
He is averaging the equivalent of 30 - 35 possessions for 120 minutes of game time at 32 years of age after crippling calf and achilles injuries , uses the ball well and he still gets bagged. I'm gobsmacked!
Just hoping that Karma kicks in and that Wayne plays his 300th in the GF and walks away with a well deserved reward.
