After watching this video hit the nail on the head..repeatedly..

I want to get a feel from any left leaning individuals (more so far left) about whether or not they think a change of tact is needed, after recent defeats in both GB and the U.S.

This site has been a prime example of what Jonathan Pie is calling out in this video (censoring people's views and arguments with either insults or bans.)

Clearly this is driving the 'silent majority' towards voting for whatever seems to represent right wing, as the loud left has created a perception of imbalance which people are now voting to rectify.

Is a change required to move away from these tactics, which look to be acheiveing the exact opposite of what is its intention. I want to hear from the left..

If they ever want to win government again they better start listening to the other side.

Screaming 'racist', 'bigot' 'sexist' and 'islamophobe' has NOT worked and will NOT work in the future.

Unfortunately the tremendous egos of the faux intellectuals on the left will prevent them form acknowledging a need for change.

As a millennial I have noticed that a few folk my age and some of my friend s seem to follow the leftist/socialist policies of their parents who grew up in a very similar period in the 60s & 70s. Eventually a few of them will shift away from being sofar left and towards the centre. I have also noticed that a few in this group have become radical in the opposite way with them happily being willing to support policies like those of One Nation, Liberal, Trump etc relating to things such as gay marriage and migration. Furthermore they have no fear of abusing the extreme leftists back after being abused for their views.

Personally I have seen such debates first hand and I myself have been involved in political discussions on matters such as immigration with people who fall into the Greens type category. I can clearly see that people are tired of being required to be politically correct with their views and thus they are no longer willing to restrain from telling others how they think. This irks individuals like those in the Greens who often resort to abuse or using buzzwords like homophobe or bigot when they dislike the argument put forward by the other side or have been proven wrong/cannot refute what has been said.

The rights argument is based on brainwashing and bullshit.. Thats why you have the problem you do. You can't argue with that s**t. So if you're talking that s**t, then you're not going to get on with people not brainwashed.

Whats your Sunday experience with reality internet like so far?

I don't even know where to start with this it is that stupid. If you want to see a valid and real example of the left's brainwashing and bullshit then have a look at communism.

The biggest portion of the silent majority as shown by this election are women(not in pure voting numbers but in the skewing of the polls).

Clinton is suggested to have got only 43% of the white women vote compared to 53% for Trump. Heck Trump apparently got 45% of white women college graduates to Clinton 51% so you cannot purely put the "only uneducated people vote for Trump" argument forward.

If you walked around a college campus looking for a female Trump supporter in October it would have been like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

When "white men" get called racist, mysogynist etc when supporting a republican candidate there is still an acceptance that they may be seen to be voting in their best interests. With women the shame they recieve for supporting a Trump is significantly greater than that of the "white males" as there is a certain 'traitor' like vibe that comes with it. The same could be said for certain minority groups as well.

Imagine a female pollster rings and speaks on the phone to a female likely voter. The bias toward giving the socially desirable response will definitely have an impact.

The white women vote for Trump on election day blew projections out of the water and delivered him the presidency. Noone saw it coming and the hubris on the Clinton side cost them dearly.

Overly verbose rehashing of the legendary Churchill quote.
Can see this turning into a good ol' lefty bashing. Play on gentlemen.

A supporter of current orthodox austerity style conservative economic policy begins with the premise; I think people should suffer. Which is always a difficult case to argue.

Trump's final campaign ad looks like it could have been made by Michael Moore or Bernie Sanders.

Whether or not you think Trump believes in what he is saying, that is the kind of thing 'the Left' should be campaigning on. Instead you get politics like this:

They came in their thousands - the children of immigrants, transgender individuals, women and men of all different ages and races - to demonstrate against President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday in New York.

Who the * cares about 0.01% of the population? Why do these increasingly tiny categories of people matter in national and global political discourse?

What millenials have parents that grew up part of the 60s and 70s? We're they all having kids in their 40s

18-35 is the age range of millennials that is widely thrown around. Most of my friends have parents who were born in the 50s and some of my slightly older friends have parents who were born in the 40s.

Is money the root of all brainwashing? Can we live without money ?

Don't mean to side track the thread but it has gone to brainwashing and i just had to ask

The people you're referring to are the centre right progressives, with right wing economic but nominally progressive/left social views.

Those on the left would call them the bourgeoisie.

Yes they need to change. They need to shut up and hand the reigns back to the actual working class instead of pretending to be our champions while really only caring about feathering their own nest or focusing on feel good politics instead of economics and the democratisation of our working lives.

The speech that got Trump over the line.

Actually, I'll agree with you both here. Part of her strategy just seemed to be negative attack, negative attack on Trump. I really hate that kind of politicking myself. Debate the ISSUES, for f*ck's sake. There was plenty of things for Clinton to get stuck into the Rebublicans about, and plenty of U.S issues, both domestic and foreign, that needed looking at ahead of a negative attack campaign that seemed to alienate instead of unite.

You're right. The Clinton campaign shot itself in the foot, and then in the head.

Delusional.
