Just a thought, does a players personality, or lack of, play a major role in how the media and others view him as a player?

Example:
Voss seems to be quite universally popular, for both his on field abilities and that the fact that he seems quite media friendly, quite down to earth and when on tv appears quite chipper. He seems to be the mans man on the field, but nice enough that all granny's list him as their favourite player.

Buckley is another issue. Personally being an old Bears supporter, I held great animosity towards him, in his sorta thoughts that he was always bigger then the team. I think for a while there, what I perceived as arrogance has stopped me from both a) liking him as a player and recognising how good he is.
From the weekend I was extremely impressed with his leadership skills, which from what has been said, had to be manufactured, and how skillfull he actually is as a player.

Sheenan on talking footy tonite spoke how he has been reluctant to put him in his top tier of players for quite a few yrs, no doubt he has the talent, but is it his (perceived) arrogance and the fact that he doesnt come across as well in the media, slowen the process for greatness.

Any other examples>?
