Do we elevate Brandon Jack?

You have to take our list size into account with these discussions. In our final list lodgement for this year we elected to only have 38 players on our primary list instead of the maximum 40. If we have 3 retirements or delistings we will have 5 spare spots on our primary list. I think it is certain that Dane Rampe will be promoted to our primary list and that we also select Lloyd Perris. This leaves 3 potential draft selections.

We still have a problem with our rookie list. We will have one spare spot if we promote Dane Rampe. We are allowed 4 class A rookies and 3 class B rookies. Class B rookies are for either overseas or academy players. We have 3 players as class B rookies - Brandon Jack, Daniel Robinson and Sam Naismith. I think that we will be looking at promoting Harrison Green from our academy this year. To do this we would have to promote one of our 3 class B rookies or delist 1. I don't think any deserve delisting after 1 year.

Who is unsigned for next year?
Mumford is the obvious one who else

Lamb?
White?

I guess what im getting at is some people not re sign with us.

Based on the case presented why elevate him he is not in our best 22 and if we get injuries can promote him, no pressing need to upgrade him

Some 1 said that Smith is out of contract to , is that true

Pretty sure i read that

Smith
Lamb
Mumford
White
J bolton as well

I think it's a sin to mention RWO in these parts. Not sure, but that's the vibe I get!

It’s only a sin if people follow their discussion or battles across which has happened in the past. If there’s a practical purpose to mentioning it like contract lists or something similar than we’ll allow it.

Just dont go overboard in bringing it up.

Based on contract expiry, we could be looking at something like:

OUT: Lamb (traded), Mattner (retired), Bolton (retired), Morton
IN: Rampe, Traded Player, 2 draftees

Lamb u think might ask to be traded due to more games some were else or club might not offer him another contract ?

I think Shaw may way up retiring to

Yeah think Lamb might attract some interest from clubs like Melbourne and WBD where he'd get more of a guarantee of playing time.

Shaw I think will depend on this comeback from injury.

Has anyone considered the possibility of trading Towers back to Victoria. He clearly hasn’t settled in Sydney and was a highly touted mature age player last draft wether a Melbourne club might be interested in taking him home where he might be more at ease.

He hasn't? For all we know, he is doing everything right behind the scenes and can't fight his way in to a very good side righ now, despite the injuries. I wouldn't give up on him after one year.

Pretty disappointing first round pick so far plus being a mature age player u would think with all our injuries this year he should have debuted , did see him last year in the VFL and never thought he was that much chop

I hear you but there have been plenty of opportunities to break into the team this year and he was supposed to be “ready to play” yet the number of players who have gone past him in the pecking order do send alarm bells.

Your correct, I’m only hypothesising but putting it out there as another avenue to a draft pick in order to put Brandon Jack on the senior list, particularly if he is front of Towers ensuring B Jack doesn’t field offers from rivals who might offer to put him on their senior list if we don’t.

Here's the facts.

We have Mattner retired plus Goodes, Johnson, McGlynn, Jetta, LRT, Reid, Rohan and Walsh out with injury. That is 9 players. We have picked 22 for this week, plus 3 emergencies. That's 34 players total. So at best Towers is 35th in line.

Additionally, the following players are well ahead of him in terms of "best" votes in the reserves (by well ahead I mean at least twice as many): Jake Lloyd, Tony Armstrong, Alex Brown, Daniel Robinson, Xavier Richards, Tim Membrey. So it is possible Towers is 42nd in line. Out of a list of 45 players.

Rookies like Biggs and Jack who play essentially the same role as him have been elevated off the Rookie list and above his pecking order. I would say he has disappointed the coaches.

I'm well aware of those facts (you have made them abundantly clear recently). I just don't think he been so horrendously bad to be given up on after one season. Even if he isn't on much of a salary, throwing him out on his arse would cost us money that we don't need to turn into a sunk cost. We can hold on to him for another year, hope he turns around and if he is still 42nd in line, delist him. Why not hang on to him and hope he comes good if we already have money invested in him?

I believe if we trade him we don't have to pay his salary. That would only be if we delisted him, which isn't being suggested.
