We have the makings of a dangerous, functioning forward line.
Charlie - McKay - McGovern = tick would ideally like another mobile med tall like a Gunstan / DeGoey type to roam & lead out off HF & the FP (JSOS, what can you do?). Can Owies surprise up forward though more a small’s role.

Pickett on the HFF if he can get fit (was also expecting big things from him last season until the wrist injury) with DC another option. You could see the merits in having Rankine on a HFF as well especially if we’re targeting midfielders as FA’s/trades vs drafting Walsh (Setterfield outside, Kennedy in).

We’ve then got the overflow from the midfielders to fill in the remaining slots with SPS & Fish as I see it.

No more sitting on the fence for me - I think Pickett will play 20 odd games this year and show his wares

If Pickett manages to play 20 matches next year, I'd back him to play in at least 23 matches in 2020...;)

We could still do with a small forward. The retirement of Matty Wright isn’t seismic but it is a position of need that has been weakened further. Rankine would be a great addition to any forward line. I have hopes for Pickett but think a second small would be helpful. Any thoughts on Jake Neade?
We will get Jack Martin next year. All will be well with our team in 2020. Just more games into the kids

I empathise with those that lost some faith In Pickett this year. The injury was a huge hit which we all acknowledge and he didn’t see to come back well at all - seemed a bit chubby tbh. But when he did come back we were pretty much shot as a team with no defensive unit left and only a couple of kids in form. So it’s genuinely difficult to assess that.

In some of these games we tried him as a one on one forward which I don’t think is a strength. He needs to be able to use that pace and we really didn’t allow that - our delivery is shocking. A couple of times he just seemed to runaround in a big circle.

Think our forward line will become more settled.

I'm a big fan of Sam Fisher (Northern Blues) if we do in fact draft him. He would have been playing this year if he was on our list. Form warranted selection in the back half of the season.

Probably one thing we're missing is finding our version of Tom Papley. A solid, tough, consistent performer. Doesn't have to be flashy. Just consistent.

Not sure how many people have Polson in their best 22, but I reckon he'll become a regular with another strong preseason.

Just remember against Adelaide in round 23 he had 15 disposals, 7 tackles and 2 goals.

I'm not going to expect him to get 2 goals a game in 2019, but if he can average between 10-15 disposals and 7+ tackles per game, I'd like him in the starting 22 every week.
