Watching AFL game day on seven this morning and while discussing Carltons change of fortunes and attitudes compared to last season they mentioned how quickly a side can completely turn it around with fresh ideas and belief if they have a good core group of senior players to carry forward the direction change. We have every bit the equivalent core of senior players that Carlton had in place.
I've been a Hardwick supporter in the past but fear if we don't move him on at seasons end at the latest we will continue on with this cycle of mediocrity yet again next season. We appear totally lost onfield at the moment, with little structure and gaping holes throughout the corridor which is why get absolutely smashed by the fast running direct playing sides. He seems to struggle or is just unwilling to adapt to opposition structure or style changes throughout the game. I don't know why this is? is he just steadfast that he is right and it'll just all miraculously fall into place for us (7 years and we're still waiting for it to "click" Dimma) or simply too arrogant to swing the changes? I realise injuries left us short of personnel on Friday, but match ups that are destroying us need to be changed mid game. Harvey again needing a hard tag is a fine example. How many times do we need to watch this little campaigner nudge 20 possessions and kick 4 against us. Apparently Brando can run all day, it's not like we wouldn't have missed his meagre 7 possessions had he been told sit on Harvey after he started to get on top early in the game. Just try something Dimma, anything. Make some f.....g changes!
Stupidity is repeating the same mistakes over and over and expecting a different result. This is us in a nutshell at the moment.
I now believe we need fresh ideas and to move Dimma on to go forward.
Knights, Dew or Caracella for me (in that order) at this stage, but we need to be doing something. Coaching stability is not the issue it once was at Richmond, our last three coaches have been afforded plenty of time to get results.
Be bold Tigers, enforce change and demand improvement. We the paying members and long suffering supporters deserve it.
