No point having them if all you do is push up the ground then kick it sideways and backwards when you turn it over. FFS I wish someone could explain to me what it is he is trying to do with this game plan
I would hazard a guess that the Mantra is Maintain Possession - Control the ball, control the game. However it don't work for a number of reasons.

Have to admit TT I have no freakin idea what the game plan is..but watching the game yesterday, it was mostly sideways...backwards defensive ball movement

They can't because they don't know, they just keep saying gameplan this gameplan that without actually knowing what it is.
Care to explain the "gameplan" and also justify why an ever decreasing number of Posters such as yourself still believe in Hardwick?

Maintaining possession has always been the basis behind it SL. However teams figured it out long ago and apply massive presses to break it down. So we recruited players that can break the lines and penetrate opposition presses.

We Just need a coach capable of implementing a game plan that is attacking and higher scoring. We don't have that at the moment but will be much better off when we do.

Why do you think we don't tackle? Surely it's one of the ways you get possession.

Well if they're not being told to do this but are doing it anyway is it any less of a coaching issue?

So please enlighten me TT what is it he is trying to coach the team into doing that they're failing so miserably at?

Would maintaining possession be top of the list?
Well if they don't have it, they can't score.....

I think the plan also runs on the theory that most offensive attacks against are generated from the opposition Half Back line. So no easy ball into the F50 that can lead to opposition possession for them to counter attack from. So basically no long kicks to contest. However with the pressure applied from oppositions it all become contested ball of panic kicks and handballs.

I think I remember Hardwick saying on one occasion generating attack off your half back line is one of the last places you should be doing it. It means they're getting the ball into your forward half more than you want them to and it's harder to defend. You'd much rather turning the pill over further up the ground to start your attack.

Only team I've seen do it well this year is Adelaide and I know Pyke isn't happy about how often they do it.

From my point of view, the game plan resembles something like this:
maintain possession
take minimal risks
slow down play as much as possible to prevent opposition teams from spreading
don't use the coridoor unless it is absolutely 100% safe to do so
Every kick must hit a target (ie, that's where the sideways kicking comes into it). ie, no slapping the ball onto boot to get it forward, which ironically, worked for us for three years.
have two to three men behind the ball at all times and the person winning it handballs to said 'loose' players
only kick long to the forward 50 when Griffiths is one on one
Suspect disposers of the ball are told to handball. This seems especially true in the defensive 50.
