I think I remember Hardwick saying on one occasion generating attack off your half back line is one of the last places you should be doing it. It means they're getting the ball into your forward half more than you want them to and it's harder to defend. You'd much rather turning the pill over further up the ground to start your attack.

Only team I've seen do it well this year is Adelaide and I know Pyke isn't happy about how often they do it.
Sounds like a theory behind the "press" replacing the "flood".

I'd be the greatest coach in history. My game plan would be "make sure we kick all the goals, and the opposition doesnt kick any". Then blame the players for failing to execute my flawless game plan...

Too complicated. Can be simplified to "Win the Game".

There ya go. Proves there's always a younger, fresher coach coming along with a new thinking and game plan to bring the old one undone...

Yay ... one of the biggest improvers on a team that's gone backwards by six spots. His first two years were inept, this year slightly better. Again he offers nothing other than at centre bounces.
We can agree to disagree! The End!

I accept your points but in the context of the season Hampson is a player we are happy keeping on the list; he has shown he can pinch goals forward when put there and you're underselling his contributions in other areas for a big man. Fitness is probably his biggest issue at the moment and another pre season under his belt plus the return of some good players should increase his output.

He's not Todd Goldstein or Max Gawn but he is still a productive player in his role and one of the last players we should be looking at getting rid of when this season he proved he is capable of improvement.

The time has come now when Penny and Beg started to move the shame and blame onto DH and his FD rather than the players. The players are there and then prepared by them. Excuses are over we are now resembling the Reject shop.
Time to rebuild using the dogs or Saints model. Discarding rubbish , trading Lids Sheds and Cotchin as they will only give us something decent and they cannot carry us further.
Only untouchables are Rance Jack and Dusty.
We, seven years ago were like the Dees now the Dees worked their rebuild differently bc of little talent to trade . They were in no hurry under Roos unlike us as Dan told us. The Dees instead went stockpiling kids of high quality and under Roos and have started to build a genuine list.
They're rebuild is in its third year and if they continue in this manner they will have a very competitive list. I see them a better side than the Tigers 2012 as their untapped talent is massive.
We need to move DH on now as we will be left for dead by GWS Saints Dogs Crows and Melbourne.
People in the club need to have a private body to come in and do a revue on the club and face the hard facts when the truth is pointed out to them .
Quote : Ricciuto " The bar is set too low at Punt Rd"

I would hire him in to start the process bc he was behind the dislodging of the ball cupper Sando and finding three coaches since ,Walsh Campo and Pike. Dunstall is also welcomed .
To solve failure you need the people behind the failures to be ousted as they haven't been able to find the causes which makes it impossible to find a solution.
It's blame and shame time for Beg Penny DH and FD not the players. REVIEW TIME PLEASE.
IT'S clear, no matter what the club line is this week (and it changes often), we are in either rebuild or at least partial-rebuild mode. And here's the thing ... you can count on the fingers of one hand the number of coaches who have led a successful rebuild when they have been in charge of that club for a good length of time. Like Clarko at Hawthorn, Beverage at the Dogs, Richardson at the Saints, it takes a new spokesperson. Coaches just don't re-set and become a premiership coach in five years' time. Hardwick's time is up .... he won't just get better.

have to laugh at Peggy and Benny .. 'Hardick is a great teacher'. Yes, he's teaching the AFL's nmost flawed game plan. It's a shambles!

I agree. I reckon for after 7 years the message is old and it's not getting through. It points to us needing a new coach. Too bad the club extended his contract.

What would we rather, the club admitting it made a mistake and cop the payout this year and find someone new or;

Give him another 12 months, opportunity to fix his **** ups and if same same give him the chop next year.

Three goals in 16 games!
Hammer is the Tigers prototype. Two awful seasons followed by a mediocre one that a few at the club talk up and bang ... here's three more years!
I bet when we recruited him we thought we might get more than a few cameos in one season?

He has shown he can kick goals; i'm not saying he has shown it consistently but its something that is possible to extract from his game.
I bet when we recruited him we wanted to win the hit out count...and we do consistently. As I said he's not Elite but he is top 7-8 ruckman in the comp this year how can you criticise that ahead of flogs like Bellis who don't perform their role or people like Shedda who instead of taking the next step have gone backwards?

3 goals in 15 games this year.....if you think that sounds bad, of his 30 games at Richmond he has only kicked 4 goals.

I don't like him. But I would concede he might be worth keeping for a very low wage as a back up.

Are you serious he has kicked 4 goals 8 behinds in his Entire Richmond career of 30 games that's just a touch over 8 games a goal, but then again it fulfills the dimma mantra that kicking goals is not important.

As well as this its his 10th year in the AFL system do you think that may be enough pre seasons for him to get AFL ready?

but then again Big men take a while to develop

It goes somewhat like this...

Kick 10m
receive handball
look left, look right, 360 deg turn
kick 30m backwards
rinse repeat till the ball is turned over and opposition kicks goal..
Yer that's what should go up on some of those highlights packages on the AFL/Tigers website (with the Benny Hill soundtrack).

and as you brought up Todd Goldstein he has Kicked 85 goals in 165 games or a goal every two games Max gawn has 32 in 56 games or just under 2 games per goal, you picked the wrong stat my friend

Mate learn to read; I stated he was not in the same elite category as both of those two players; not many ruckman are. in terms of the overall talent pool in the afl he has been good this year.

I'm sorry bro , but I'm not sure if you have seen this guy play live.
Now he's bloody embarrassing let alone horrible.
His tap outs are nothing special and he's been doing this for years
What frustrates me about this guy is the second the ruck contest is over he takes a step back and puts his hands on his hips. Now even Daws knows you go in and put your body in to assist the mids.then his poor coordination when in general play just kills me to watch as he will either screw it up or give away a free.
His other major flaw is that he gets lost in the general play and his only way of getting involved is in hope of a turn over. This guy is a massive liability and is not VFL standard let alone afl standard.
If he's on our list next year we're gone as he's just the perfect rabble that DH and BH have bred into our club. Ivaan's shadow would beat this guy . I'm over list cloggers and players clogging up our cap. We need to start a rebuild and Hampson should be the first man out.

I have seen him live; I don't know what you expected of him in this pre season to suddenly become Goldstein mark 2 and become an AA. The fact of the matter is not many teams have A grade players in every position.

He is the best ruckman on our list at this point in time. I will agree with you that he is prone to ball watching on occasion. Massive liability is sensationalism; on a consistent basis he has beaten his man this year.

Ivan's shadow would not beat this guy and you know it. The games Ivvy has played this year have been putrid. I'm over list cloggers too mate; the clubs direction at this point in time is terrible, however its laughable you think Hampson should be the first man out the door when you look at our list.

I'm looking at you Ty Vickery.

I was going to add TV following him out. Now he hasn't beaten his opponents this year apart from in the ruck contest which oppo mids basically feed off him and we break even. This is not his fault I agree , but his general field play kills us and if your number one ruck cannot go back and help the defenders or go up forward and do some damage or follow the play then get a Naismith and you will get more. He's a joke for a bloke 9 years in the system. Only the RFC employs crap like Hampson and talk them up
I would get Daws on our list before Hampson and he has the tank of a goldfish .

I'm simply against kicking out all our available ruckman next year when ivvy will retire and Soldo is not ready yet, especially when hampson given what w ehave dealt with this year has played his role in a disappointing team.

Giving Daw game time on our list and time to develop with the young players coming through would be a solid idea, considering his worst area is positioning learning the trade of the ruck role and following the ball will limit his deficiencies whilst also meaning we have the strongest ruck in the league imposing himself for us. It could be a good move if Daw can commit to the club with time and effort. Naismith impressed me with his hands but I reckon Hampsons a bit better in the tap outs.

Don't worry mate - you'll get your wish,. Certain to be on our list again next season and we'll be just as average, if not go back another step.
