MELBOURNE DEMONS!!!
hey people,
i know that i don't find anything more entertaining and fun more than footy. i mean, come on, the game is soooooo cool to watchj, and even better to play, with sexy bods too! i love it! footy is what i live and breath for, and i wonna know if you people feel the same way. tell me please!!!

AFL is the sport I have the most passion for, but I have more to do with basketball cause i've been playing it for so long, basketball's sorta my thing, but afl is always on the top of me list... i luv rugby too - go broncos

I love NBA (Boston Celtics), NBL (Vic Titans) and English Premier League (Leeds FC)
footy isn't dead, it's only sleeping

C'mon.. in winter there is no better way to enjoy an afternoon other than at the footy!!!

and in summer there is always cricket... but then again i play a number of sports.. so i cant be too biased to footy. :p

but footy is WAYYYYY up there!!!

My first love will always be gridiron; my enthusiasm the highest for university level (in America, some university sports are revered and covered as if they are professional sports). I do like the NFL a lot but college level interests me more. I was born and raised in two cities (Lincoln, Nebraska and Green Bay, Wisconsin) where college and pro gridiron respectively are a way of life and have the privilege of seeing both codes in person on occasion.

On a more casual basis I like ice hockey and baseball.

I am also very passionate about golf; I've been playing since the age of 8 and have been competing at the school and club levels for sometime as well as following the professional tours closely. One of my favourite hobbies is bulding golf courses on my computer to be played on Links 2001 and such.

And of course, I love the footy. I admit that the passion I have for it is still relatively new found, but it's very strong and I don't see it going away.

It's more the passion than the game !

In England Soccer is incredibly good. In USA Gridiron is incredible and in Australia Footy is the Greatest.

But it is the passion, the rivalry and that something special that makes each fantastic to be involved with in each country.

And I must give a mention to cricket. I stand in awe at the Australian cricket team of today. I doubt if they will ever be matched in history. We are probably in a cricket era that Australians for hundreds of years will remember.

NBA - THE LA LAKERS !
NHL - PITTSBURGH PENGUINS
PREM LEAGUE - ASTON VILLA
AND FOR SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT IT HAS TO BE WRESTLING !!!!!!!!!!

------------------
Essendon - The greatest club with the greatest coach in the league ! Carlton- absolute hypocrites who accuse others of being cheats only for it to be found later that carlton are the "serial salary cap breachers" as quoted by our president, haha

AFL is the best sport in the world but not far behind is American Football (NFL) its a great sport to watch especially for the tactics of an offense moving the ball up the field and the defense trying to stop them, and those guys are tough even though they wear all that padding, The Super Bowl has to be one of the biggest sporting events on this earth.I follow Tampa Bay who has a chance of winnig the superbowl this year.
I also follow
LA Lakers NBA
Yankees MLB
Liverpool Premier League

Go the lakers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cricket - Victoria
Fa Cup - Newcastle United
Nbl - Melbourne Tigers And Sydney Kings
Nsl - Northern Sprit
Italian Soccer - Juventus
Nrl - Broncos before Storm came in the Comp. So it is still the broncos!
Nba - Minnesota Timberwolves

Mags

Footy by far and away. Gaelic Football too - both games involve fast open play with great athleticism. A cliff-hanger in one day cricket can be very entertaining too.

Soccer - too often boring, Baseball and Gridiron too stop start and over specialised for my liking, Basketball and Rugby League lack variation. Rugby Union can be great but long boring sequences of players kicking out on the full or trying to organise a scrum don't appeal to me.

Golf and Test Cricket are mostly very unexciting but can be useful for veging in front of the TV for relaxation.

As for motor sports - I don't think of them as sport and round and round driving I can do looking for a parking spot.

To me the fact that footy stands up so well on a player base of only about 400,000 compared with the multi-millions of other codes, suggests the game itself is a great one.

In answer to the question, no nothing comes even close to the entertainment that i get from AFL football. I do like other sports, but they are all just 'pastime' entertainment. Footy is the only thing that really stirs the passion to any degree where i can have a good or bad week over the result of a game. Maybe its to much, but thats the way it is.

Soccer- Paok (greece), Inter (Italy), Everton (Eng), Real Madrid (Spa)

Footy - Crows (AFL), Sth Adel (SANFL)

Basketball - Bulls (NBA)
frown.gif
!, 36ERS (NBL)

Cricket - Aus and Redbacks

These are my fav 4 sports, in order, so soccer is the best!

Unfortunately i still go for the bulls, we are like 3-23 right now!

But elton brand and ron artest look promising. And the pick up of ron mercer was a good one. Also a small rumour that we might pick up finley next season as a free agent!

No!

I do find other sports entertaining such as Soccer (English Premier League - Leeds), Rugby League (Storm) and Union, Gridiron (NFL - Steelers) and of Course Cricket. I follow these sports with a more detached academic interest.

Not so AFL. This is followed with a fierce, blinding passion. In AFL, it is the emotion that drives me first and foremost. As analytical a person as I am, this goes immediately out the window once the Tigers take the field.

This is a hallucination and these faces are in a dream. A computer generated environment; a fantasy island you can do anything and not have to face the consequences.

My teams (since everyone else is putting theirs in) are:

Newcastle United (don't follow to closely, just my preferance)

Chicago Bulls

Melbourne Tigers

Brisbane Broncos

I used to love the trots.

Up until about 30 years ago, in Adelaide, they used to race at the Wayville Showgrounds. It was a really small track and it made you feel like you could almost touch the horses.

There was nothing like a hot summer night at Wayville, with the lights and the colours and the excitement. They used to get huge crowds in those days. When they moved to Globe Derby it really killed it.

These days I sometimes go to Moonee Valley, but not very often. There's just too much else to do. I would have loved to have gone to the Melbourne Showgrounds in the good old days.

If ever you are in Sydney check out the Trots at Harold Park Raceway in Glebe. It is a fantastic venue for Harness Racing, a great atomsphere and the there are facilities there like you have never seen at a Racetrack ever before.

Naturally Australian Rules Football is the one sport that really gets me going big time, but I also like to watch International Rugby Union, becuase it is often as passionate as Aussie Rules but is on an international scale and the really big test matches (like NZ v South Africa, or England v Scotland) are some of the biggest footballing occasions anywhere.

I also love Cricket, American Baseball, Gaelic Footy (and Hurling too !), American Gridiron and big-time Ocean Yachting and Powerboating can be pretty awesome at times as well, although not so spectator-friendly I must admit.

AFL is by far the best sport on earth. The excitement, the high flying marks, the bumps and the skills needed to play at the top level make it #1 easily.
And no matter what you think Wrestling is deffinently the best form of entertainment! You cant beat a good wrestling show- packed full of excitement, you can just relax and enjoy the storylines evolve without worrying about who's gonna come out on top.

Other sports, Soccer isnt bad but the National Soccer League do nothing to promote the game. If Kewell, Viduka, Lazaridis and co. came down to play in Aus soccer would be AFL's # 1 threat.
Rugby is pretty boring and so is girlie-ball, I mean basketball but they're both excitement+ compared to cricket!
Cricket has gotta be the most boring and UNentertaining sport there is-id prefer to stand around and watch grass grow!

Later.....and GO DEES! Premiers 2001, 2002, 2003....

While I have my favourite teams in virtually any sport going, I have to say that Carlton and the AFL wins hands down. Some cricket matches have me on the edge of my seat and top level swimming is also a bit of a rush. I love the V8 Motor racing and the Formula one grand prix's.

I just love competition full stop. I could sit down and watch most sports and pick a side or competitor to barrack for.

On a excitement scale, State of Origin League is up there with AFL.

AFL - Carlton
SANFL - Glenelg
Westar - Perth
NRL - Cronulla
ABL - Bullets
English Soccer - Notts Forest
redface.gif

Aust Soccer - Bris Strikers (was Carlton
smile.gif
)
US NBA - Chicago Bulls
US NFL - Dallas Cowboys
US Baseball - Atlanta Braves
Union - Qld Reds of course
Cricket - Ummm....Qld!

The list go on and on so I won't!!!
