Do you Hate Us? Why?

Before the GF I started a thread 'I don't hate the Hawks.'

I still don't hate the Hawks, they were the better coached team on the day. I certainly don't hold anything against our players (except Stokes issue was disappointing), as they were held to playing within their skins.

I am more disappointed in our not addressing weaknesses in coaching, tactical issues not being addressed. Hawthorn exploited our few weaknesses.

The smarter bullfighter slays the stronger bull. I am not saying that our coaching is bad, just having unaddressed weaknesses that made them look pathetic. I am disappointed in the coaches, not the players. The coaches blew the GF imo. So how can I hate the Hawks for this?

(The AFL being a $700million entertainment industry doesn't help either. I couldn't understand Kennet gloating about a dynasty BEFORE the GF - being the underdogs. If this was ASIC - an insider trader investigation would be underway.)

lol. Kennett makes all Hawk supporters drink an extra glass of wine (maybe even the toddlers) whenever he speaks. I shrunk the moment they started talking Dynasty. It's just so hard to even make the GF and that much harder to pull it off. Kennett is good at deflecting attention away from the coaching staff and players to an extent. I'm sure they have a giggle in the privacy of their own homes.

Costa, however, I thought was a little ungracious in his post match interview. Disappointed I'm sure, but we talk about arrogance (Franklin) - when you expect to win then there is bound to be something not quite right from the top down. I still think he is a super president. Probably no.1 in the league. So don't tear me to pieces. Just take a look at it objectively. 11 rushed behinds. Many shots we had that only barely missed too.

Anyway, it looks like the Cats will be super primed to spank us in the opening round and it will be interesting to see the coaching tactics, which will certainly change on Thommo's side of the fence. We will have our work cut out. But you won't get Buddy with a bung shoulder and a damaged thumb again, which required surgery. It occurred after the dogs game. Both team have stars - what a game it will be. May the best team win. Hopefully we make the GF and you guys are not there You guys will be ferral.

I don't understand this "selfish" tag that Buddy has acquired. If I was being harsh, I'd probably call it something more like "outlandish" or "flairy". He's a goal-kicker for crying out loud... it's what he does for a living!

He gives goals away too... and did so on at least one occasion in the GF. He just gets a LOT of opportunities at goal every week... it's not his fault he's hard to match up on. If I had that kind of talent, I'd be having a ping as much as I could too!

Did anyone actually say they hated the Hawks cause they were tough as nails and played football with passion on the day? Hmmmm

And no-one on this thread so far could say that because they didn't barrack for either team, they supported the under-dog on the day.
I did and the Hawks were the under-dogs.
And the under-dog scratched, and scragged and gave every ounce of energy in their quest to take down the team who thought they just had to turn up on the day to win. Don't fool yourselves....you thought you were home.

To the guy who said Geelong were the most successful team in 2 years. No you weren't. You won the flag in one year and another team won it this year. Once you start judging home and away games, you'll end up thinking like a S.A team who thinks there is such a thing as Minor Premierships. No one is remembered for successive Home & Away seasons.

Not the scoreboard attendant at a local football club. The signs were there you thought it was all going to happen this year.

And I hate Franklin for the great player he is, and I hated Mooney when he was on fire last year. I guess that's human nature.

This thread was amazing to see the feeling between your 2 clubs is still simmering. Maybe this year's Grand Final has allowed both your teams to keep at each other for years to come.

Good Luck, you are both elite club, both worth watching for the impartial supporter, and clubs others are trying to emulate.

Get your facts straight, it was reported after the game that the footage of Bomber eating was filmed before the game, then inserted into the footage to make it look like he was eating during the game.

Sorry, give me Roughie over Buddy any day, Roughie is still underrated right now by a lot of people cause of a certain #23. I thought Roughead was stiff not to get a nod in the AA Starting Team IMO. Best CHF in comp. Mr Consistency.

We beat you in 2007 because we won the GF, regardless of not playing you, the fact is, Hawthorn didn't make the GF & Geelong did, thus beating you & won by the biggest margin in GF history.

Hawthorn beat us in 08, & the cycle continues, No-one is exempt from losing, and if you think you are then you're delusional my friend.

So you're saying the club and the media publicaly stated that they beat every team in '07. I can understand the odd uneducated juvenile supporter stating that (but I actually can't remember seeing one)but not from anyone in an official capacity, however I'm sure your generalised sweeping statement would not have been made without some proof to back it up so please post a link to the media realease you are referring to

Ive hated Hawthorn for as long as i remember, a lot of my mates go for Hawthorn so thats naturally a reason to hate them because i hear a lot of sh!t about them when i dont support them, losing the GF this year just made my hate grow even further. Every person has a team they hate (collingwood seems to fit the bill for most) but its just simply the Hawks for me.

More modern reasons why i hate them are the following players that for some reason just give me the sh1ts:

Buddy - arrogant prick (but bl00dy good)
Bateman - just looks like a tool
Williams - pfft
Roughead - the next Whitnall
Mitchell - always has an arrogant little smirk on his face

I could probably go through the whole list but these are my main hated current day players.

He may look that way but he's the opposite, I met him on a plane travelling to the gold coast a couple of years back and I'd have to say out of all the hawks players on the plane that day he was the most friendly and down to earth...I've got a lot of time for him.
