The angry minority always scream the loudest over the silent majority.
Which explains 5 parts to the Scott thread. The Scott out minority banging their hands on the desk loudly while the sane majority calmly ignore the hysterical theatrics.

Anyone can pick and choose what they feel is important - all I'm saying is when it comes to dick measuring contests between clubs and history the gold standard is premierships... Yes we can say fu** Hawthorn we beat you in H&A this many times - but the truth is they bent us over in the grand final and no matter what you think the reality is we are their b*tch still.
Of course everyone wants to win the flag and that is the ultimate measure but all those home and away wins against the hawks did matter. They are still so flipping scarred by the 14 or whatever it was in a row- they aren’t getting over it anytime soon. Same goes for Richmond- they beat us to win the recent flags but they are beyond consoling over the 20 previous years we flogged them for year in, year out. They absolutely hate us for that-so it’s also about the tribal rivalries that build up. And although the flag matters the most, the other stuff also matters.
My most enjoyable game this year came when we beat hawthorn by a kick in the last moments of the game earlier in the year- something satisfying about knocking them off in another close one. It didn’t mean anything in the context of the year but it still meant something to me.

.
Most of the posts in those threads come from the pro Scotters.
The angry loud minority.
dude, your non-credible view isn’t the one held by the majority.

It’s the one laughed at by the majority.

It's fascinating to see which side immediately gets abusive towards the other too. The angry ones seem to be those obsessed with defending Scott and not the other way around.
You know it's funny, when I started on this board back in 06, you were the leader of the Thompson boo-boys. Thompson was a 'clown', an 'idiot', the 'worst coach' in the AFL, 'tactically inept' and so on. 06 was his last chance—premiership or bust.

It dawns on me now that this has more or less been your mantra every year: 'premiership is a pass mark, or the coach is s**t'. Given this posting history and that you only emerge to rant after losses, it's a bit hypocritical for you to criticise anyone about 'anger'.

My point is why does the club simply refuse to consider drafting a young ruckman. Actually develop someone. We haven't done it since Simpson in 2007 or if you're generous Vardy in 2009. They're just not interested anymore. If they are there for insurance why should it matter if they take a couple of years to develop.
Since 2007 flags won by clubs who have traded in their ruckman.

2007 (ottens), 2009 (Ottens), 2010 (Jolly), 2011 (ottens), 2012 (mumford), 2013-15 (McEvoy), 2017 (Nankervis), 2019-20 (Nankervis)

Drafted:

2008 (Campbell/Renouf), 2016 (Roughead), 2018 (Lycett).

Fair set of data to suggest trading for a ruck often is the better path to a premiership.

An interesting little note - last off season the Scott thread was closed for a couple of months as it was the same arguments being posted on a continual basis with nothing new being contributed, and really it just felt like "same old argument" stuff

Take a guess at which side of the discussion showed the most frustration at the thread being locked for a few months

Great post! Lycett’s 2IC on that day was Vardy- served his purpose!

Yes. It is funny which side would be happy with a discussion being cancelled.
Take a guess at which side?

Its awesome that the guy who continually says we have nothing better to do than talk about chris scott, has twice as many posts as i do. And more than anyone else lol.
Not to mention the alt accounts. The minority pro-Scott crew are actually allowed alt accounts to boost quota's.
Fair enough. They need a leg up in life.

Socialism it is.
Failed concept.
And here comes the insults. Why is the angry minority so angry?

Must be all the mental gymnastics trying to defend a 40% finals record.
The mental gymnastics criticising a team that invariably outperforms 80% of the competition for 15 years + in a system designed to make it hard to achieve for more than 4-5 years.

Inane whinging when there is little to complain about, when we are genuinely rubbish for years on end. Knock yourselves out.
Until then, you just look foolish.

Maybe become a mod. I think we're pushing for a rule that 70% of mods must be pro-Scotters.

Why would I join the group that treats me the same way they just did you?
