Whether your at the footy or watching it at home, do you watch the whole game if we're getting flogged or can't win? No matter how bad the situation is i pride myself on watching the whole game, sometimes it's very hard to do (especially the last few seasons) but i do. I don't believe in leaving early or switching channels because that's like giving up. What's your thoughts people?

If I'm with other people we usually stay til the end, but if I'm by by myself, I usually go early... mostly just to beat the crowds

Yep and there have been some truly scarring and horrific experiences over the last few years.

The worst has to be when the Blues played Brisbane at the Gabba and I finally got to see a game at the ground for once. If u guys think it looked bad on TV, you couldn't imagine how much being at the ground hurt. it was the most pathetic thing I have ever seen and one of the worst experiences of my life. i was in shock for a couple of hours after the match and didn't speak for a while.

I've only left early in one game which was midish season 2006 against St Kilda. We were being smashed and not just on the scoreboard. We were playing terrible footy also, kicking backwards and sideways which really pissed me off. Left early to visit a friend in hospital.

There was a game a couple of years ago when we we played Richmond at the MCG and we down by about 90 at half time. If the side is not putting in 100% effort it really tests the patience of the supporters.

Once. Left at the 20min mark of the last term, rnd 22 2003. Took my nephew to his first game and he couldn't make it all the way. Happy enough to go that day as we were bout 117 points down against the Kangaroo's!

I never used to leave early when we were getting pumped, however, I have been doing so recently. It just gets too hard to stay there when we get beaten time and time and time again. Hopefully we can notch a few more wins on the board this year.

Never, ever leave before the final siren. I feel like tripping up those who do but tell myself they must have a sick granny to see. For one, I'll bet there are people who left the Round 3 game last year early. Nice one. Also, believe it if you will I reckon there are people out there (you know who you are) who left the 1970 GF at half time too. Nice one.

The main reason I stay is that sitting being humiliated by opposition supporters as your beloved team plays like a bunch of gay goats makes those wins all the more enjoyable. You have to feel the pain of serious defeat to really savour the joy of victory.

Also, there is never a better time to see who actually is willing to wave the flag than when you are being hammered. Easy enough to play like a star when you are 10 goals up. It's the players who are still having a crack when they are arse-hole deep in crocodiles that I want to see. They're the blokes who will win you a flag.

Nope.

On tv yes I watch the whole game, but while at the ground I leave early when the 'fat lady sings', not because I can't take it/it's shameful etc, but to beat the traffic basically. No point when we've lost to get stuck in traffic and waste half an hour, especially a Sunday game.

You might want to read this out loud some time. See if it sounds as pissweak to you as it does to me. Traffic. Seriously.

These days, when I'm watching at home or at the Dome or MCG I always stay to the end. When we played out at Prince's Park, I always left 10 minutes early, whether we were winning, getting thrashed or if its down to the wire. Hated battling crowds out there.

I travel over three hours to get to the game, so I stay till the end, Hawks game was hard last year, but sat it out, ya never know, ya just might miss a good goal from Fev or something.

watch all of the game. but to be honest a certain game against the bombers last year, i was very close to turning the tv off and going for a walk to de-stress. but fevs 2 goals before half time made my walk outside in the backyard less painful for any ball in site, but most still went over the back fence. looking back, glad i came back inside to watch one of the best halfs of footy i've ever seen. so for that reason i stay till the end. be it live or the telly.

Can't have sung the song too often.

try to but sometimes its just to painfull
eg carlton v pies in 2002

I must shamefully admit I walked out at half time of that game. It was the most insipid half of football I had ever seen from a Carlton team & the anger that was building up inside of me was unhealthy. I was certain if I stuck around I would end up in a fight with some of the feral supporters. As I was making my way down the ramps to the exit, I passed John Elliott on his way to do a half time TV interview & he was copping an absolute earful from the feral supporters. To his credit he ignored them all, but it was a reminder of just what low lives some of the feral supporters really are & a reminder of why I couldn't have stuck around because things could have got real ugly.
