For the most part I HATE reading the coach/club/CEO bashing that goes on.

Best avoid most of my posts from 2005 to 2008 then.

Don't we get enough from Hackdorn, Barra, Duff et al. If I wanted that I would start buying the Worst or the Sun Slime again.

Sure, but we don't have the opportunity to debate with Barra, Hagdorn, etc do we. If someone expresses an opinion on the coach, CEO, or anyone else and someone else disagrees with that opinion it is much better for them to discuss it than to just delete one side of the debate.

If someone writes a post which is malicious or vindictive or overly aggressive then by all means delete it but if someone makes a well thought out post it should remain regardless of whether it is positive or negative.

You're right dom, but as was said in this megathread a few times, BF serves that purpose doesn't it? Thats why I've read the threads here for so long (I have to say, I laugh more at DL than I do here, but that is by the by).

For what its worth I'd prefer more opinions becasue that would mean more posts and more to read, but it isn't that way, and that is the right of the guy running the site.

I guess my point is that if DL were more like BF, then maybe 1 would cease to exist. Having a niche site like that serves a purpose and some people aren't going to like it, they shouldn't take it personally though.

This last bit is a notion I forgot about during my reply. I remember when people were claiming the MoB or the Mad 37 were representing the "large portion of Docker members" that I wanted to turn my face inside out.

You are exactly right that this is not DL's fault but I can absolutely see how irritating that would be. Blame for that should lie with the mediots.

I think a tightly moderated site is a good idea but Dockerland is ridiculous. I knew it was bullshite when I saw a very well written post that praised the team's efforts after a win was edited to remove some constructive criticism on some stuff that the team could improve on.

Know what you mean Kram, it happens. But the negative stuff does get a run. There have been a couple of examples this week in fact. Sometimes the negative stuff gets a run but doesn't stay up permanently. Sometimes it does like the "West Aussie Flogs" thread running there at the moment.

It was very interesting to read the Sticky on the BF Freo Board and see many people critical of DL also sledging Ripper & Sabre regarding how many threads they left up. Some were even suggesting a no warning policy and to just delete the thread with no explanation and ban the poster.

Sounds familiar no?

I guess my point is that there is always a problem when lines are drawn. Someone will always want the line moved. Where it is drawn is always controversial.

Shane has made his decision on that and whilst it obviously reduces the popularity of the site it is also the reason the people who do like it stay around.

I don't always agree with it but I also have to admire in a way the fact that he sticks to it (regardless of the criticism) in order to maintain his view of what he wants DL to be. Its not for everyone but those who do like it and stick around appreciate what it offers. Those who don't have other options like BF.

Dockerland does very poorly when Freo are playing poorly. People try and vent and get moderated, I expect a lot more people from that forum to find their way here over the coming weeks. Expect an influx of new forum members.

There's nothing wrong with DL. Shane runs it the way he wants to, it's his site so he has every right to. DL is a fun place to visit. If you want to vent your spleen at the club, you're better off here on BF. Fairly simple really.

I happen to enjoy doing both.

I don't know for sure but I guess that is the Chinese government getting tips from Shane about how to effectively censor internet criticism.
