Re: dockerland.com

Sorry I would rather them use dockerland than the idiots that ring 6PR or walk around with t-shirts saying Suma for coach ;)

Re: dockerland.com

So they use dockerland as a place in which they somehow come to the conclusion that Fremantle supporters want CC sacked and the board over thrown yet on the other hand you are complaining that posts saying these things are being deleted??

I'm confused......

Maybe not on this particular issue.

But DL is regurlarly used and quoted in various Perth media outlets.

That gives the perception that it represents the general POV of docker supporters.

A site that is lampooned throughout the football world as authoritarian and overmoderated is not the one that I want representing a general concensus of feelings on issues relevant to our club.

Re: dockerland.com

See personally I would prefer that than people ringing radio stations all day saying they want the coach sacked, there isn't enough Freo people on the board, The admin are a joke, Suma is the second coming of Jesus Christ which is what 6PR are trying to push at the moment and the idiots ring up and agree with them.

Re: dockerland.com

See, isn't this nice? Different opinions expressed and swapped openly and freely, promoting discussion and thought (and the odd insult). Isn't this what footy discussions are all about?:D

Re: dockerland.com

The other relevant point is that the media use Shane'sland as their reference for the point of view of the average Docker supporter/member.....which it clearly is not!!!

Funnily enough this is exactly why I like DL's moderating policy. There's enough anti-Freo assclowns in the media spewing their agendas as it is without giving them the extra ammo of the ravings of negative whiteants posting on the most well known Freo fansite.

Besides, someone like Hardie seems to have no problems claiming his view is shared by the majority of supporters despite the fact it hardly conforms to standard DL slant.

DL's good for a bit of fun. It keeps things upbeat and there's some genuinely funny people that post over there. I don't go there for robust debate, I go there to be amused and have a laugh. I'm still surprised that so many people take it seriously.

Some negative moaners seem to be under the impression that people are interested in listening to them constantly sniping at the club about every conceivable issue. And that somehow every website owes them the right to do it. Well they don't. DL doesn't owe you anything. It's an independant site free to be run however the owner feels fit. And if you don't like DL there's plenty of other websites that allow you to bitch and moan to your hearts content.

In fact WHTP caters especially for it. And yet look how much more popular DL is - funny that. Nobody likes being around depressingly negative people in real life, seems the same goes on the web.

Re: dockerland.com

Ease back mate, I love my team and want them to do well, I'm sick of this 1 step forward, 2 steps back routine we've gotten into and I personally think it might be time for a change....how is that whiny or complaining??

Sounds like you're the exact type of moron that dl.com caters for.

Little Secret, you'll find Roundhouse all over dockerland :)

Good points, but no-one likes their opinions deleted with a bias slant. Have to be able to take the good with the bad and vice-versa. DL should just post a message on the front of the site and say any negative comments will be deleted. That way it can't call itself a forum.

Re: dockerland.com

But it calls iteslf a "Message Board", not a forum. A subtle difference, but a message board is for posting messages (which could quite conceivably be removed by the owner of the board if s/he sees fit), whereas "Forum" suggests that open discussion and debate will take place. No-one claims it to be a "forum", so therefore if they don't like the messages being left, who says they can;t remove them?

Don't like it? Don't go there...

Semantics IP

I think forums are subject to removal of postings if the owner/moderator of the board sees fit too as well.

In any event, I don't go to Dockerland.

Re: dockerland.com

Suck it up. It's a Freo supporters site. If you want to bag anything Freo or make posts that are whiny or uninsightful then they don't want you there.

Complaining just makes you look like an arseclown.

Oh dear Roundhouse, you are indeed talking out off your butt. I've seen posts where the first half has been praising the teams performance in a game and then some constructive criticism in the second half for which that part gets instantly edited.

I'd be fine with the site if it didn't masquerade as a genuine supporter site and plainly stated that it was a club propaganda tool, sponsored by Rick Hart.

Mr Richmond and her site is an embarrassment to Fremantle supporters.

Semantics maybe - but maybe it's that distinction that people should keep in mind when they get their knickers in a twist over having their posts deleted. The simple solution is exactly the one you have taken if someone doesn't like the way they go about it. Don't go there! :)

Bigger Secret, I've posted on Dockerland about a dozen times in my life. I haven't posted there for about a year.

Thanks for the secret though, share it freely at your next tupperware party.

Re: dockerland.com

I don't mind dockerland, but i guess the consistancy isn't there when someone would post something, it gets deleted, and then a regular would post a very similar thing and it stays. But that's my only gripe really.

Re: dockerland.com

My two cents.

I loathe Dockerland now. It crept up on me slowly. At first, I read it avidly. Shane is actually very funny in his match reports and match previews, as long as you have the right attitude toward the tongues-in-cheek. But I got angry when I suggested that Waterhouse should be dropped (it was in his last season) and I found that my posts began to be deleted.

Then there's the 'in jokes.' Serious footy discussion is not encouraged. I don't go there anymore.

Not that WHTP is any better. In fact, the Bigfooty Freo forum is easily the best.:)

You accuse me of talking out of my but, then proceed to flat out lie yourself!!

The site definitely does not claim to a genuine (ie official) supporters site. Spokesmen for the site have stated on the radio that they have no official links to the FFC whatsover. They have gone to lengths to explain, whenever questioned that the views presented by the site in no way represent those of the FFC. It would be obvious to anyone whoever read the site anyway, but neverless they have never claimed to be an official site in any sense.

Claimed to be a propaganda tool? What the hell do you mean? Where exactly has it claimed to be a propaganda tool?

In the same radio interview with the sites spokesman, it was explained that the sponsorship deal with Rick Hart's company (or former company) is simply an advertising sponsorship deal. They went on to explain that Rick Hart has absolutely no say whatsover in the running of or content contained on the site. In fact, the sites owner has never even met Rick Hart.

Re: dockerland.com

Well kram81, I don't think you can say that it 'isn't a genuine Freo supporters site.' Clearly the regulars are rabid Freo supporters. It's not to my taste at all, and I don't go there anymore. In fact, I think a LOT of people are fed up with Dockerland. This forum has 5x more posters than it used to have. I wonder why.

Beat me to it Roundy. In the same interview Greg explained that it was a "supporters site" not a whingers site to explain the heavy moderation.

Seemed a fair enough stance to take in my view.

If you don't like it don't go there , simple.

P.S. I am getting sick being obligated to read through the same old arguments about DL on here.

Because Freo are losing!

Seriously, ask any regular who has been reading or posting here for a few years. In tough times, the whiteants come out of woodwork. If we were top of the ladder at the moment, half of the posters who are here at the moment would be silent.
