Dockers couldabeens

Justin Longmuir - ohh how 06 could have been so different with him in that prelim final side. Pav wouldnt have had the pressure of 3 guys on him. Who knows the double team of Pav, could have meant J'LO kicking a bag, then we go onto absolutely demolish West Coast in the Grand Final.

Haddril, Woods and Hayden as half our couldabeen defence. Those 3 could have still been half our backline. Hopefully Hayden gets his body right and can get back to the AA form he has shown in the past. A bit like JLo, he was peaking and playing absolutely brilliant footy when he was injured.

Clem Micheal: Career ruined by poor injury management
Clive: Forced to play out of position in a consistently weak side
Dion Woods: All the ability in the world yet lacking the dedication (Tragic death of his father contributed)
Justin Longmuir: See Micheal

Not sure I agree with Shipp and Toia, both tried their guts out but lacked the weapons

What position should he of played?

Chapman type role.

Should never have been the first target or the only target, had some pretty incredible raw talent but not the body or height to stand up to the barrage. It's unfortunate that Pavlich and Waterhouse weren't playing along side eachother for longer.

Chapman type role.

That's the type of role he played for Port Adelaide in 1995. I remember watching him run riot for the Magpies that year, and that's what led to him being drafted by the Dockers. For whatever reason though, the Dockers seemed intent on using him as a key forward, which was a role he was never big enough for and never quite had the skills to consistently pull off either.

I've always had a soft spot for the Dockers since their inception when I was 7 years old. They had some interesting players - almost a team full of cult heroes - and played a unique and exciting brand of footy in the Neesham era. I always thought it was a shame that guys like Daniel Bandy, Steven Koops, Dion Woods and the late Gary Dhurrkay never lived up to their immense potential for the Dockers. I also would have liked to see Clinton Wolf play a few more games as well, and it would have been good to see Craig Callaghan kick on after good years in 1997-98 and have a long career for the Dockers.

The Dockers search for that one key forward pre-Pavlich was always interesting too - names like Craig Burrows, Kingsley Hunter, Daniel Parker and Michael Brown come to mind, along with 'The Great White Hope' Clive, of course. Even the infamous Chris Groom showed some glimpses in 1995.

Robert Haddrill was always a player that I wondered what had happened to, and it's a shame to hear that his career was cut down by injury. Also, whatever happened to Andrew Seigert? He seemed like a decent player during 2002, but then almost disappeared after that. Ben 'Afro' Cunningham is another one who showed a bit during 2002 and then seemingly disappeared as well.

^Congrats dude. In that one post you pretty much showed more knowledge about Freo than I've seen from every other opposition supporter combined since I joined this site.

Siegert was cruelled by injuries, he was eventually delisted after 36 games. Plays on-ball with SowFs. Pity, he was a good tagger and hard at it, especially effective running off the half back flank.

I always thought that Clem Michael was a huge loss for you guys. He seemed to have talent, class and athleticism. In my opinion if he got to demonstrate his ability over a full career he would have been talked about as a modern great.

I remember reading that D Drum never coached a win after he lost Michael to injury. Though I am not too sure that is correct.

J-Lo was also a quality player lost too soon.

We haven't had a pretty history as far as getting value from ruckmen goes. Clem and JLo tragic losses, Spider and Simmo lost to other clubs, Wolf and Warnock never achieving their potential. And that's not to mention Burrows and Burton J.

Drummy never coached a win without Clem in the side fullstop. Then again...his win/loss ratio was 13:40.

Nice stat (for Clem not Drummy) Glad to know that my memory still works. Anyways here's hoping that you guys don't get anymore players to add to this list!

CLEMENT: What happened to J Clement was a crime. CC decided he didn't want him and that was that. I think he showed us all what he could do at Collingwood.

JONES: AJ must have sent a few surgeons kids through a couple of years at school. we gave up on him, he had some rare and serious injuries and we said enough. But he still played WAFL until end 2009, don't know if he'll go again. Claremont should be thanking his surgeon(s)!
